24th July 2006The meaning of life? And the Ultimate answer? Oh - it's Forty Two. 7th June 2006I have a planet- sized brain and I still count Using my fingers :) I've waited so long. Left alone in the car park. Just like poor Marvin. Pull up a seat then, And don't forget your towel. Have a go yourself. :) 24th June 2005On the Heart of Gold Two heads are better than one. Do you have some tea? (If you fancy more HHGTTG Haiku fun simply reply to the entry in haiku (5,7,5 syllables per respective line.)) 23rd June 2005As the old maintainer of this community - I'd like to propose that a democratic vote be made for the new maintainer. I can't pretend to be all-knowing in the field of Hitchhickers Guide To The Galaxy, but I created this community as a creative writing forum of sorts. I'm happy to have anything HGTTG related in the LJ, but I recognise that I haven't been a very good maintainer, so I'm willing to try and arrange it for someone to take over so that they can do with it what they will. I'm in favour of keeping it open, since I don't wish to let anyone down. However, there's a problem I created this place when it was possible to log on as a community, unfortunately now you can't, so I can't maintain it anymore. I'm endeavouring to ask for help at LJ maintainance though. Anyway, bottom-line do you want a new moderator? If so, I can try to arrange it so things will happen. Not Panicking but best wishes anyway, Drrng ---> Good news, I've managed to salvage the site. Luckily, I remembered the password too. It's been years ---> since I've been able to join as a mod. Phew, eh? ---> Anyway, many thanks go to 15th June 200523rd May 2005Just to make this known to other froods, &c., Towel Day is this coming Wednesday. ![]()

21st May 200520th April 2005I've posted a few news tidbits here in 15th April 2005Sorry to spam you all again, but this will be the last time for a while, I promise. With the aid of Sixteen of them! ( Here's a list with number of members and posts, as of a day or so ago when I compiled this. ) I don't mean to decry anyone's community or bring anyone down or anything. This is just for public information to help people find one another. My suggestion is this: in the style of Webrings, rather than closing down or merging any communities, that the mods of all of them just post a straightforward list of what other communities are out there on the communities' userinfo pages - and let people choose for themselves. You might want to trim off the statistics on the end of each one. Mods might also want to put in a bit of description of what makes their community special! 12th April 2005Since I've just been busily spamming LJ with links to the movie review and plugs for ZZ9 - join now! join often! - I have to ask... How come there are quite so many HHGTTG communities on LJ? Doesn't anyone bother to check before creating a new one? So far, I know about: • • douglasadams • • • • • • ... Any more? EDIT: and Any more? A bit of consolidation would be a really good idea. A single community with all the members of all these ones would be a lot more active & interesting! 10th April 2005ZZ9 Research Archivist and world's greatest Guide expert Simo has been to a preview. The news, as I have to confess I rather suspected, is Not Good. On his site, Planet Magrathea (the single best site for HHGTTG news in the world), there's both a spoiler-free short review and a longer one which gives the whole game away. -- Obligatory plug, 'cos I'm the president: join ZZ9, the Official Hitch-hikers' Guide to the Galaxy Appreciation Society! We have WAY better merchandise than ThinkGeek does, a quarterly magazine, a members-only Yahoo community & mailing list, regular meets and more... Only £8/US$18.50 a year! 18th February 2005http://hitchhikers.movies.go.com/main.h (though unclear why the trailer has a different date to the web page) 1st February 2005You know, I'm really not convinced Martin Freeman would make a particularly good Arthur Dent. Am I the only person who seems to think this? 29th January 2005The latest edition of "Weebl and Bob" (published yesterday evening) features an incident which Guide fans might recognise. Yes, Weebl has an accident owing to an unlikely cause. http://www.weebl.jolt.co.uk/ouch.ht 23rd November 2004If you're a fan of the Hitchhiker's Guide, why not give this a whirl... The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Role Playing Game - the hoopiest thing ever to come out of the website of Yahoo! Groups. It is a Roleplay (notice the capital letter) of epic proportions, starting where Mostly Harmless left off and then bumming around the Galaxy in ways we've bummed before. (Tried but true ways of course, including lots of Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters and rehibilations groups. And girls. We can't forget the girls.) Pick a character. Email the mod. Get partying. Help the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy crawl back from the very edge of destruction. Help Ford Prefect shove it right up Infinidim's behind! 22nd November 2004This is a towel dating from 1985 (the seller says 1983 - that may be right, but I thought it was 1985). It's starting at £50 with no reserve and ends in about a day and 18 hours. These are incredibly rare and have gone for over £100 before. I would advise anyone who likes This announcement has been brought to you by dna_ebay. Have a nice diurnal anomaly. Current Mood:
13th November 2004Just to let people know that the news sites below have something interesting on them concerning Yahoo (i.e. a slightly new teaser trailer, eight bits of concept art and a slightly new teaser poster) right now and that they will have something even better to report on Tuesday. http://www.planetmagrathea.com/ http://www.douglasadams.se/ http://www.h2g2movie.com/ They're all kick-ass sites. 22nd September 2004People reading this may or may not know about the HHGG game which has been re-released on the BBC Tertiary Phase site. I happen to have written a walkthrough for it and I thought I'd take this chance to plug it, as someone needs to go through it and see whether it's all correct and things. It's available from here if you're interested. Share and enjoy. Current Mood:

20th July 200429th February 2004Pleekly foul odours, Defaced my long armpit hairs with a wet carrot. I demand not to Kloogle floss my rear with straw, but to find answers! The truth is onkle, Betwixt the dirty pillows. On warts but not all. 13th February 20048th February 2004Hello. Does anybody have any more information on the new movie?http://imdb.com/title/tt0371724/ I'm excited, and yet... apprehensive. 16th February 2003I want to use the computing and video stuff that I have to produce something more than just a holiday video, I'm thinking of going for a short film that is a tribute to Mr Adams.... Lance: Darren? What are you doing here? Darren: I'm affraid I have some bad news? Lance: What? What's wrong? Darren: It's all gone wrong, everything! Lance: You're not making sense, what's gone wrong? Darren: It's Marvin. Lance: Marvin? Darren: He's decided to end it all. Lance: Who's Marvin? Darren: He's a manically depressed robot. He's found "The Third Key"? Lance: "The Third Key"? Darren: Earth, well Earth IV, is a the most powerful computer in the entire universe. So powerful that the existance itself depends on the program which it is running. There are three keys that keep the program running. The US has one, the Russians have the second and the third was hidden. Lance: But the US and Russia aren't at war any more. Darren: War? Lance: I'm guessing you're talking about keys to neuclear weapons? Darren: No? Lance: Then what are you talking about? Darren: The keys that keep the Earth IV program running. The Americans have the control key, the Russians have the alternative key and now, Marvin, has found the delete. Lance: "Control","Alt","Delete"? Darren: Yes and if the three keys are used together, "poof" no more. Lance: The "Blue Screen Of Death"? Darren: You're not taking me serious are you? 3rd January 2003Current Mood:
