Seriously, coolest tutorials ever. More playing around produced these four (pardon the lack of LJ cut):

1) I kind of like this one, but the silhouette actually just... wouldn't look right. It needed something along the outside to get rid of the roughness, but nothing looked right. Alas. The comic book effect was cool, though.

2) This one was actually much simpler than it looks and than the previous one; I like the effect a lot.

3) I learned how to make a brush in PhotoShop! Go me! Figuring out what she was talking about on the tutorial took awhile, but I got it, and I like the outcome.

4) My favorite of the four, and I have no idea what I did. I followed the tutorial to get the dotty bit, but couldn't figure out how to color it at all, and ended up just fucking around. Somehow it colored itself to look awesome, and I love it.

So this tutorial is the neatest one ever. It lends itself well to rock, so rock I did.

1) The text is blurry, but the silhouette turned out really well. It is, of course, Chris Murphy.

2) The font and the background turned out better, but silhouette is workse and the little star kind of kills it. (Jay Ferguson)

3) The sihouette for this one was so freaking hard!!! Also, the quote is too long to be good, but the background is cool. (Andrew Scott, duh.)

4) My favorite overall, though the guitar sihouette isn't as clear as in Chris's. The star brush is by artistbynight, and the border brush daughterofsnape. Actually, so was the brush in the last one, too. Obviously this one is Patrick; interesting how it's my favorite, huh?

Aha. Leah's done with season one (minus Tuesday's episode) and Margot has seen through number seven. I rule.

Pretty much everything I used was credited in my last post.

Only four icons:

1) Mmm, Damon. I did it through this tutorial, and it (like all the other icons in this post use gradients by bargaining, and textures by julia_thorne13. I believe this heart brush is from tiny_picts but can't swear to it. Anyway, the icon is hott.

2) Similar process, without the guide. Not sure where the brush was from; if anyone wants to know, I'll try and track it down. (There's a reason my icon says 'lazy'...)

3) Ditto on the brush. I like the overall effect but not that the gradient is so dark on his face.

4) Mariano! Ditto brush again. Not quite happy with the text, but like the overall effect. Man, I love Mo.

The only good thing about being sick is that I think my icon making has improved by a lot.

It occurred to me that I never posted the last couple of icons I've made... Both were for toon_icontest. They're nothing hugely special, but I'm proud of them in that they don't suck.

1. - I mostly just like the gradient in the text here.

2. - Okay, I just plain like this one (and I put it back up since I already accidentally disqualified myself anyway. Whoops -- Well, I'll remember next time. Pity, I'm actually proud of this one).

Clearly, I should be doing work instead of making work.
