Eva is still not used to all the flying she has to do for the NIH.

It's not that she really minds most of the flights. In fact, she's learned that a couple hours away from the chaos of the ground can be kind of relaxing - it's one of the few times she actually gets to catch a movie these days, and she's actually gotten a taste for those little snack bags of peanuts they hand out.

No, she doesn't mind the big, solid, passenger planes at all. It's the little, rickety prop-planes - like the one she's on right now - that she's still not too sure about. She can't help it if the way they rock against the wind as they fly so close to the ground makes her uneasy.

She enjoys that little jump in her stomach she gets when the wheels leave the ground for the first time just as much as anyone. She just doesn't think it should be a reoccurring sensation throughout the flight. She'd look out the window to try and get her mind off of it, if it weren't for the fact that she's sure that would only make things worse.

Eva shifts in her seat and tries to settle down, but it's a bit hard to relax with the engine sending tiny jitters up her spine and into her head. She doesn't know how Natalie and Miles can even manage to concentrate on the thin folders in their laps, let alone understand each other over the roar.

She tries to focus in on their conversation, but gives up when she realizes that she'd be just as lost even without the plane noise muffling their words. She watches Natalie underline words on the sheet in her lap with uneven pen strokes. The look of frustration on Nat's face tells Eva all she needs to know about this new case - they are going in blind.

The plane hits another patch of turbulence. Eva grits her teeth and rides it out, fingers tight on the armrest. A warm hand covers her own and Eva turns to meet Natalie's eyes.

"You should try and get some sleep." Natalie offers a sympathetic smile.

Eva shrugs. She doubts she'll be able to fall asleep up here, but she might as well try. At least it'll keep her mind off the rocking of the plane.

Natalie shifts a little and goes back to reading her file. Eva angles her legs toward the wall and lets her head fall back against the seat, brushing against Nat's shoulder.

A few minutes later the plane stops jumping. Natalie's hand is still warm on hers and Eva thinks that she might be able to drift off after all.
