| Description: | A drabble community for the Starsky & Hutch fandom. |
This drabble community was inspired by
Reminder. Drabbles. This community isn't called me_and_thee_100 for nothing. The challenge is to write exactly 100 words. It's meant as a writing exercise, but even more so, an exercise in editing your own fics.
A 100 word drabble usually takes less than 10 minutes in writing, and up to one hour of editing. The exercise is to find out what is really important for the little story you are going to tell, and what is not. Also, please keep in mind that a good drabble is a drabble that actually tells a story or sets a certain mood. The challenge is to get your point across in only 100 words. Even a drabble needs a structure, a structure which usually ends with a climax.
So please, post only drabbles which have 100 words, and have been checked for spelling, grammar, and correct punctuation! There's no problem or shame in having someone look your drabble over for you before you post it publicly. In fact, it might save you embarrassment for posting an obvious misspelling! :)
THE BASICS:
(unless otherwise indicated)
2. Your words, to the prompt.
3. Edit, tag, and post it.
4. You're done!
Need more detail? See below. :D
1. New challenges will be posted on Sunday (or Monday) but all previous challenges are always open for submissions.
2. Please be sure your drabble is on topic. If the challenge is about a character, the drabble needs to be about or referencing the character; if it's a concept, be sure you're writing that concept; if it's an episode challenge, be sure your drabble is within that episode or is obviously referencing it. Drabbles need to be about Starsky and Hutch, the show, and/or the characters they interacted with. Think of your drabbles as extensions of scenes we know, characters we love.
3. List of challenges is here. Please identify which challenge # you are posting for in the tags and in your header.
4. Tagging for gen, slash, or het will also help readers locate the drabbles they want, as well as tagging with author name.
EXAMPLE for tags: challenge 1, author: lauramcewan, slash, rating: nc-17
5. Special challenges: Once a month we will issue a challenge for a specific episode or character; other weeks it will be some element of the show or even a random idea.
6. Suggestions are always welcome; please email your maintainers or post to the current challenge post.
7. Using other source: This comm isn't me_and_thee_100Songfic. Lyrics and dialogue from the show/movie count against your 100 words, but in the spirit of original writing, please keep the lyric/quote brief. If we feel a drabble is taking too much of the allotted count from another source, and not from your own words and ideas, we may choose to remove it from the comm.
8. Post your drabbles as a new post to the community. While you are free to post whatever you want in your journal, please do not post just a link back to your own journal. Our community, our challenges, our posts! We want to see what you wrote HERE. We really want to focus on the WRITER and what she or he is WRITING. This means, please, no pictures or excessive explanations. Your story should be clear all on its own.
We reserve the right:
To delete drabbles that we feel are inappropriate as regarding The Basics outlined above.
To update and enhance our guidelines as we feel is necessary.
Feel free to pimp us out in your journals!
