Welcome to McShep Match 2009: War and Peace!
Stargate Atlantis may not have a new season, but fear not - McShep Match is once again recruiting two fabulous teams of writers – and now artists too – to bring a little McShep into your summer! Last year the Home Team (captained by

thegrrrl2002) just pipped the Away Team (captained by blueraccoon) to the win in a contest closer than we could ever have anticipated. Now we're back, with all-new team themes, team captains and prompts! :-)For those new to the fest, this is how it works:
- Participants will choose a team to join when signing up to take part – this year, Team War or Team Peace.
- Each team will consist of the Team Captain plus an equal number of participants (maximum 24 writers and 5 artists) in order of sign-up for the team. Latecomers can volunteer as reserves in case of dropouts.
- The same 30 prompts will be allocated to each team, one per team member. Please note that all prompts are open to artists and writers alike when claiming starts for your team.
- The minimum length requirement for stories is 1000 words per writer. That means if you are co-writing your story with a friend your minimum word count will be 2000 instead.
- Each writer works on their own entry, though they will have the support of their team and the mods for ideas, betaing etc. on the team communities:

mcshep_war and mcshep_peace. - After the deadline, the two entries produced for each prompt will be posted anonymously on each day of posting.
- Readers can vote for the entries on the following criteria: how well they fit the genre (war or peace) and the prompt, and how much they enjoyed the work. Results are hidden.
- Teams are encouraged to pimp, plug, bribe and blackmail their friends into voting for their side!
- After all posting and voting, the mods will announce the winning team. All participants (both teams) will receive banners/icons/celebratory items of a similar nature to record their participation and team.
Icon challenge: Wednesday 3rd – Wednesday 10th June
Sign-ups open: Friday 12th June
Drabble tree: Wednesday 17th – Wednesday 24th June
Prompts allocated at latest by: Tuesday June 28th
Deadline: Wednesday 19th August
Posting starts: Monday 24th August
Please note that because of the limited places on the teams, sign-ups usually close very quickly.
