British festivals were bad news, Bob decided as Frank happily skipped off stage. If they didn’t get bottled, then something like this happened.
Frank got ideas.
A dangerous combination. This time he’d spotted his newest muse: a kid in an inflatable dinghy…crowd surfing.
Ray’s efforts to change the subject were ignored. Frank was entranced.
People all said sit down
Frank had been like a dog with a bone until the next show, unwaveringly determined and days (seemed like weeks) of whinging had paid off. He struggled back onstage, armed with dinghy, ignoring Brian’s protests that he knew nothing of this plan, Frank, FRANK!
Sit down you're rockin' the boat.
A grimfaced security guard clung onto the inflatable craft as fans pummelled from beneath, screaming encouragement. Grinning, Frank launched himself into the boat, whooping with glee as he shot across the arena, whilst his band mates watched in anguish.
“Be careful!” Ray yelped into a microphone, as the dinghy slanted ominously sideways.
Frank waved to him. There was nothing to worry about; why everyone had been so against his plan, he didn’t know.
And the devil will drag you under
A tug on his t-shirt alerted him to how vertical the boat was becoming. To his right were four fans dragging on his shirt. Frank became vaguely aware of Gerard hurriedly yelling something from stage before his vessel flipped and he was catapulted into the audience.
“Shit!” Said Gerard.
“Help!” Squeaked Frank.
“Oh God...” Groaned Brian.
By the sharp lapel of your checkered coat,
Last thing Frank glimpsed was Gerard’s face, twisted into a hilarious expression of disbelief and pure horror, his eyes bulging from his face, before the crowd above his head swallowed him up.
Shit.
Sit down, sit down, sit down, sit down, sit down you're rockin' the boat.
