The official website for the upcoming live-action movie adaptation of Motoro Mase's manga serial Ikigami is now up, and with it comes a new teaser. Like most teasers actual movie footage is pretty sparse, but at least we get a peek at Shota Matsuda in the traditional Fujimoto "sorry dude, you're dead" pose.

For those not familiar with the manga, the story basically involves a national death lottery in Japan meant to force citizens into becoming more productive members of society and reduce the suicide rate. Children are injected with a lethal nanocapsule along with a nationally-administered vaccine at a very young age. The capsule eventually makes its way to their pulmonary artery where it waits to be activated. Between the ages of 18 and 24 people become eligible for ikigami. 1 out of every 1000 people are chosen to die, being informed of their fate only 24 hours before it happens.

Having passed the age of 24 a man named Kengo Fujimoto has the unenviable job of delivering these ikigami. Although he opposes the law, he would never dare admit it publicly. The film will follow Kengo as he delivers ikigami and tries to accept his role as a messenger of death, slowly maturing with each case. It will also follow a few of his victims as they deal with their fate in different ways.

The supporting cast for the movie adaptation of "Ikigami" has been announced. The film, based on a manga by Motoro Mase, was announced in February starring Shota Matsuda. Tomoyuki Takimoto is directing.

The dystopian story is set in a Japan where the government attempts to encourage productivity by randomly selecting citizens for death. Matsuda plays a young man employed to deliver "ikigami," messages informing their recipients that they only have 24 hours to live.

Takashi Tsukamoto appears as a former musician whose friend receives an ikigami. Takayuki Yamada plays another young man chosen for death, while Riko Narumi plays his blind sister. Other cast members include Jun Fubuki, Akira Emoto, Hitori Gekidan, and Takashi Sasano.

The movie finished shooting last month and is set for release in September.

Motoro Mase's manga series "Ikigami" is being adapted as a live-action movie, starring popular young actor Shota Matsuda. The comic is serialized in Weekly Young Sunday, and the four released tankoubon have so far sold more than 1 million copies.

In the manga, the Japanese government establishes a new measure meant to encourage citizens to lead productive lives. People are randomly selected for death, and are issued "ikigami" (death notices) informing them that they have only 24 hours left to live. The story examines not only the lives of the chosen victims, but also that of a young man (Matsuda) whose job is to deliver the ikigami.

Of the 53 companies that reportedly bid for the rights to adapt the manga, TBS' movie division came out as the winner. Tomoyuki Takimoto has signed on as director.

Filming will last about two months, starting on March 4, and theatrical release has been scheduled for the end of September.

I've just recently became a Shota fan because of watching Liar Game..
Um..can I have a little request?..Can anyone make a wallpaper for me featuring Erika Toda and Matsuda Shota together? It could be any pictures of them..but it would be better if they looked sweet..and can it also be in black and white?

I'm sorry if I sound desperate and demanding. But please..this is all I want for Christmas..
