I've been giving it some thought, and trying to figure out something fun to do that would give people freedom without being
completely free form, since prompting and "deadlines" seem to keep people writing where "post anything whenever" tends to result in community death. So here are my ideas, and I'd like people to weigh in and let me know what they think.
- Community is open to the existing prompts only until Nov. 1.
- Beginning Nov. 1, we will have monthly prompts. Monthly prompts will not involve specific characters or fandoms; you write a story based on any female character over 40 (as hashed out in the definitions post).
- You can use monthly prompts for one month. You can use the original fest prompts anytime. During a given month, you can post a story based on the original fest prompts or on the current month's prompt any time during the month.
- The 10th and 20th of each month is Free Play. On those days, post any fic (or art, or fanmix, or any other creative activity) you like, from any fandom you like, about a female character over 40. If you started to write a story for last month's prompts and didn't finish it before the end of the month, you can post it on a Free Play day. Or if you have a fic sitting around on a hard drive or in an archive or on your LJ and it's not getting as much love as you want, post it or a link to it on Free Play day.
- Announcements for related communities (example: someone creates a community for BSG2003 femmeslash; someone creates a community dedicated to Janeway/Torres pairings from Voyager) and news (example: an interview with Mary McDonnell, who played Laura Roslin, is posted; the announcement of Majel Barrett's death could have been posted here if we had existed at the time) can always be posted. (Related communities have to actually be related. If you want to announce the creation of a comm for a pairing that doesn't have any women over 40 in it, it doesn't belong here.)
- Discussion posts that are on topic can always be posted.
