If anyone is interested in acting and portraying steampunk characters in a movie please respond to this post. This will be a great way to show off whatever you have made. A costume you made that looks phenomenal. Or you may have some other talent related to Steampunk.
If anyone has a movie idea please email me: star_dust125@hotmail.com Subject line: "Steampunk Movie".
A little about myself: I go to school in Bethlehem, PA (which could be used for location places) and I currently live here in Massachusetts in the summertime and holidays.
I'm a graphic arts major and studio arts minor with a big interest in animation and film making as a hobby on the side.
If any one of you has any experience in filming and/or directing and would like to help out please respond.
I like film making because you have a wide range of talent specified areas that can be easily filled when you have found the right people.
This is a non-paid volunteer job, it's a great way to show case anything you've made, your talent, and film making skills. If you are looking for something for your portfolio this is a great opportunity.
If you are interested in acting, please create a video and act out a scene from your favorite movie or a scene from the script once it's been written, then send the video to me by email via youtube.
Dear Friends,
Always wanted to know how to make a pair of steampunk goggles? How about a Victorian ball gown?
Please join us for an afternoon of tea and costuming at Cafe Pomplona (Harvard Sq) on July 18th, from 1pm-3pm! During the tea steampunk accessories and vintage reproduction clothing pieces will be shown and discussed. Come listen and learn about how historical clothing and steampunk garments (respectively) are created and can be fashionably worn on the street!
Guests are encouraged to bring any current costume or historical projects they are working on or have completed. If you've sewed it, built it or glued it together, we want to see it!
Feel free to wear a costume or modern clothes. We'll be thrilled to see you either way.
Hope to see everyone there!
Sincerely,
Maya Attia
and
Barbara Pugliese
If I'd'a thought of it a few weeks ago, I might have proposed a meetup celebration.
Oh, well.

For more info of this yearly event go here.

Also for you who do not wish to drive and have something to sell, show off or wish to do.
For the first weekend of August in Oxford, CT, I have a two day out door event looking for you humans
: http://www.midsummermagickfaire.com/
They are looking for clothing, jewelry and whatever vendors of the Steampunk persuasion. They are also looking for performers, music acts, etc for the two days as well.
If this sounds like something you're up for, email me at Jaborwhalky@gmail.com with the subject "I want to be in CT" Then I will put you in touch with the people running the shin dig so they can give you more details and hook you up with the good stuff.
Go to BOBBIE'S on Thayer Street in Boston on the near south side; they have a wild selection of excellent vintage clothing, a rare find for us guys!
Google the place for hours etc.
For example, they have new/old herringbone tweed jackets, a few kilts (professionally done), boots, shoes, suits, you-name-it. Last time I was there, they were going through 20 or so giant trash bags of neckties, from the cheesy polyester to the sublime 1920's and '30's in silk and rayon. THOUSANDS OF THEM!!!
HATS!!!
The atmosphere is nice too, planty of old store fixtures, radios and furniture as part of the displays. Guys, you'll get there and wish you brought more money!
And there IS a selection of women's as well!
BE AWARE that they are on a side street that has been converted to a pedestrian mall of sorts, so you'll need to find parking on the street nearby.
has anyone put together any SteamPunk related links
or listings of shops in the area?
I work nights so I was hoping to get out to a few places.
tahnks

sorry I missed the picnic
I "discovered" it the other week. Pay little attention to what's shown on the website; they have much more interesting stuff in the store.
Got goggles, got a pocketwatch. They also have lots of hats and, oh, all sorts of props and other stuff. Worth a look IMHO.

We have a place to park from the 12th onward, but are looking for a few driveways to park our 25ft rv, and maybe take a shower! ^_^
Right now, the Icarus needs the carborator rebuilt, so we can't afford one of the many campsites in CT as our fundage is nil until August. Lame!

The thing I said I'd post is the URL of my blog, New England Science Fiction and Fantasy Events, which is a calendar keeping track of geeky events in New England: http://nescifievents.org or follow the feed at
Sgt. Moustache, I think you had some movie event you were telling us about?
