A rather random set of 59 icons, mostly of somewhat strange and peculiar images, some of them filling requests. It's kind of my version of the type of icon posts you find at the wonderful and unique iconomicon.

Includes some with swear words. Also, signs, bugs, 1984, lego, cartoons, book covers, funnies, and random oddness.

As there are more than 400 people watching this community, I thought I'd ask what your favourite kind of icons are, and what you'd like to see me make more of.

I'm not going to promise to fill all requests, but please throw out any suggestions you'd like - movies, tv shows, colours, words, themes, lyrics, objects, political issues, whatever. As random as you like, whether it's something I've ever iconed before or not.

Also if you want to request an icon from a specific picture, go ahead, but please give me a link to the pic. Say if you want any particular text, or want it dark or light, or whatever.

Tutorial: Casino Royale icon

queenpeladon asked me if I'd do a tutorial some time, so I guess it's time to reveal the secrets of one or two of the Bond icons...

I'm using Photoshop CS, but it should translate easily to other programs.

Step 1: Base cropped from movie poster.

Step 2: Duplicate that layer and set it to screen, 94% (by right-clicking the layer and selecting "blending options").

You now have:

Step 3: New layer, with a base/texture I made from the title credit sequence of the movie.

I set this at Hard Light 55% - generally I play around with the settings and levels until I like what I see. I erased the middle part with Bond and the gun on this layer.

This gives me:

Step 4: Added some text from a brush (one I made). Gave it a drop shadow to make it stand out a little more.

I think I also played a little with the lighting (filter > render > lighting effects) on this one.

These are weighted in favour of seasons 3 and 4, but they go from Buffy to a handful from season 5 - quite a few Wes/Fred and Wes/Lilah. There are a bunch of scenes I still intend to do, but I think I need to shut Photoshop for a few days/weeks/months because it's doing weird things to my dream life.

So, more from the early seasons, plus later season 4 and more season 5, coming some time in the future. If you have any specific requests, make 'em and I'll let you know whenever I post the next lot. I will also at some point post the absolutely massive collection of bases I've built up.

54 icons - mostly the usual moody faces, but for once this set includes a selection of guys as well as the women. Plus a couple of guitars, some umbrellas, and a Marilyn Manson.

Also includes 7 icons of Joseph Cotten as Uncle Charlie in Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt, because he's one of my favourite evil but sexy types.
