Iron Man Speaks Out

So what did Iron Man have to say about his fellow summer blockbuster superhero?

Found this soundbite on Robert Downey, Jr. on moviehole.net

"My whole thing is that that I saw 'The Dark Knight'. I feel like I'm dumb because I feel like I don't get how many things that are so smart. It's like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I'm like, 'That's not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.' I loved 'The Prestige' but didn't understand 'The Dark Knight'. Didn't get it, still can't tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I'm like, 'I get it. This is so high brow and so f--king smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.' You know what? F-ck DC comics. That's all I have to say and that's where I'm really coming from."

Sorry to bother, but I need a little help in locating a particular storyline in the Marvelverse. Does anyone know off hand in which comic Tony Stark takes over as director of S.H.I.E.L.D.? I got the trade paperback of IM:DOS but they're missing the one that he actually got given the reins in.

Thanks a million.

Secret Invasion

is it confirmed who the 'He' is that the skrulls refer to when saying 'He Loves You' ? For some reason i would not be surprised if it was Reed Richards or even Galactus they were talking about. hasn't it been noted that the skrulls doing the invasion are almost like a cult separate from the entire race of Skrulls? also, what role do you think the skrulls played in House of M? is there any chance Quicksilver was/is a skrull? just trying to create some discussion.

The latest buzz out of the San Diego Comic-Con is that John Barrowman, aka Captain Jack Harkness of Doctor Who and Torchwood fame, is rumored to be in talks of playing a very different Captain, namely a certain star-spangled Avenger.

Discuss.

Enough about Batman.

Avengers Cast Confirmed & NEW Avenger Featured in Iron Man 2!

Frenchie fibber/director Louis Leterrier supposedly spilled the beans straight out of a Marvel meeting with Jon Favreau, but don't get too excited. He's been known to play fast and easy with the facts...

This from Den of Geek ...
Louis Leterrier says new Avenger will feature in Iron Man 2 and Jackson, Downey and Norton set for Avengers in 2011
Louis Leterrier has revealed not only that Jon Favreau is currently writing Iron Man 2 with Robert Downey Jr., but that the sequel to the Spring blockbuster will feature a new character from the Avengers, after the brief appearance by Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury in the post-credits sequence of Iron Man.

Additionally Leterrier is reported to have said that 2011 will definitely bring Jackson, Downey Jr., Hulk actor Ed Norton and two other 'A-list actors' - presumably whichever A-listers get cast as Thor and Captain America in their respective upcoming movies that Marvel is also producing - together for the Avengers movie.
All of this news is brought to us via a DoG scooper who supposedly spoke with Leterrier right out of a meeting with Iron Man director Jon Favreau at the Marvel Night at the Grand Rex in Paris in early July.

Jim Littler
7/23/2008
Source: Den of Geek

Spider-Man Brand New Day (or more like outdated old crap made worse by bad writing)

Yep, still hating on BND. It's like it gets worse and worse with every issue.

When is Amazing finally going to bring back Peter Parker? I'm just so tired of seeing Nick Katzenberg and Eric O'Grady's lovechild starring in Spidey's book.

What is it about this smug arrogant, waste of space papparazi slime bag loser that some people seem to like so much? What is it about this unlikeable, arrogant childish immature idiot clearly suffering from a midlife crisis that's supposed to be so fun and entertaining?

Is it just me who reads comic books to read about heroes? Is it just me who doesn't want to read a comic book about an utter and total failure surrounded by one dimensional excuses for a supporting cast and lame and predictable pretenses at new villains who are just third rate copycats of established bad guys?

When I read the Peter Parker currently in Amazing, I feel embarrassed for the character. That might be because I hate reading or watching people make fools of themselves, but it's there nonetheless.

I love Spider-Man, always have, but the character using his name in Amazing, just isn't him, won't ever be him and has less in common with old Spidey than the guys in the Great Lake Initiative do.

Why is it that people like Slott pretend to love Spidey and then write him as if they despise the character and just want to show everyone else why this character is so disgusting? Why is it that these new Spider-Man writers seem to want to make a point of saying: "Jonah Jameson was right all along, Spider-Man is just an irresponsible menace and Peter Parker is a sleazy jerk who takes advantage of his boss' good nature."

Why is it that Jonah is the only likeable character in any of the issues of BND so far?

And if I see one more note about webbing being expensive, I'm going to find a way to finance a trip to the US, grab these writers by their ears, drag them into a room with all the issues of Spider-Man ever published and force them to read every last one of them. Because webbing is NOT expensive, has NEVER been expensive and was something both Peter and Ben Reilly were able to afford on a minimum wage.

End of rant.

BMB, in a van down by the river?

Have you read Mighty Avengers #15 and New Avengers #42 yet?

No?

Done?

Good.

Notice a problem?

In one Hank Pym was having an out of the country affair when he found out the New Avengers had formed... and was replaced by a Skrull at the very least a few days later.

In the other he was already Skrulled and working in a lab in the US when it happened.

I don't buy that the Skrulls would be stupid enough to have someone traipsing around as Pym, who is famous enough to be recognized by some folks, before they've taken him out. That would be stupid.

(Continuing on without spoilers...)
The truth is, I think, that Bendis is just doing too much.

He got on my nerves a little with some total BS in Avengers: The Illuminati. Most of those issues worked well, but the Infinity War issue and the Secret Wars II issues just flatly contradict way too much stuff that went since. I get the impression that his only familiarity with the two events was through the main series and he didn't bother to do any further check. I can overlook minor flubs, but when somebody is contradicting an entire series (Warlock and the Infinity Watch) then they're off base.
