HULK SMASH! [07 Oct 2008|02:59pm]

Hmmm...

Art's kind've rough, but if Marvel actually pulled it's head out of it's collective corporate and artistic ass, could this be a good media for giving us canon cartoons, like they used to with Captain America, the Avengers, Sub-Mariner, Thor and all the rest?

I THINK SO!

More likely, though, we'd get this:

Still, though, it was interesting...

THE INCREDIBLE RULK [07 Oct 2008|10:49am]

virus_x
With the last issue of the Hulk dealing with the Red Hulk, I'm starting to wonder a few things.

Disappointing fight with Hulk aside, disappointing fight with Thor aside, it just hit me. Hulk has the power to instinctively home in on, with dead accuracy, the exact spot where he was created. Rick, the new Abomination/A-Bom, can, seemingly, instinctively home in on Hulk, now. However, now, it seems Hulk can instinctively home in on Rulk.

Rick and Gamma Base were part of Hulk's creation, so I can see the ties, there, but Rulk? That, to me, says one thing: he's someone associated with the creation of the Hulk.

What if the Abomination wasn't killed, after all?

What if the body was duplicated (maybe cloned), and the clone murdered by the Rulk, who may, in fact, be none other than Emil Blonsky. It also wouldn't be the first time Marvel gave undue weight to characters, just because they were in a movie that got them some money. With the impact of Rulk against San Francisco, we already see he didn't need the Abomination's invulnerable body to do the kind of damage he did to the Russian countryside; he could've just done that with a single punch, or just by using a really high jump.

What if Blonsky was contacted by Samson and Ross to murder Banner, for whatever reason (maybe in 'retaliation' for the World War Hulk-thing)? "Hulk tried to kill you, now it's your turn."

The only real obstacle to that is Betty's death, which, to me, would be very difficult for her father to get over (after all, he almost blew a public nut, when she married Banner). It also seems like a Hell of a long shot that Abomination would trust him, or Samson, considering he was responsible for murdering Betty. With those aside, who else is tied into Hulk's origin, like that?

Or, what if it turns out that Glen Talbot isn't dead, after all?

According to a recent interview on contactmusic.com, "The Man" himself, Stan Lee has indicated that should Obama become President, then many Marvel characters will likely be taken in a strongly black direction. We're already seeing this as Rhodey will be taking over SHIELD and the reimagining of Nick Fury as black in all non-616 continuities, but Lee also hinted that this could also mean Will Smith after all as Cap.

In case you were looking for a reason to vote for McCain.

end of Secret Invasion [26 Sep 2008|03:22pm]

or the next Fantastic Four arc...

so the comics have been featuring this preview page of an upcoming FF cover showing everyone mourning over a grave and the one person not shown is the invisible woman.

let me preface this by saying, i'm not a huge FF fan and i don't read the book. i also have not read FF: Secret Invasion but let me posit that at the end of Secret Invasion the Skrulls....maybe Princess Veranke determines that they can't kill Mr. Fantastic but they can take away the person he cares about the most and kills the invisible woman. of course no one really stays dead so i think it turns out they never killed the invisible woman, but killed Lyja posing as the invisible woman.

About Us

This is a Marvel Comics movie-verse RPG.
Setting: New York City

In a nation where crime and evil runs rampant, there is a desperate cry going out for someone to save the innocent people that are struggling merely to survive. In answer to this call, and with goals and motives all of his own, Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man) has decided to go to New York City where he has heard rumors and reports of a series of superheroes cropping up.

A young man with the powers of a spider. A foursome that has been genetically altered with superior skills. A scientist that suffers from a rather peculiar split personality.

Every day it seems that there is a new story and tale of heroics to be found, and it is these men and women that Stark seeks now with one purpose in mind - to bring them together towards a common goal. To form a team.

Where will you fall in? Will you join your fellow heroes or will you turn your back on them? Will you step up into the ranks or will you go rogue and take things into your own hands?

Whatever your decision is, it is sure to be the discovery of some Marvelous Beginnings.

More Marvel Films From Fox? [10 Sep 2008|08:04am]

File this firmly under "speculation" for now, but an interesting tidbit has emerged from Fox about the Marvel characters they still own the rights to. After a deathly quiet summer for the studio, a strategy meeting has been called to discuss possible superhero plans - and there are some intriguing ideas to be bandied about.

First is a Young X-Men project of a type that will be familiar to fans of the 2000-2003 animated series X-Men: Evolution, wherein all the main characters were teenagers. Is this a good idea? Well, possibly not: either they stick with the continuity of the other films and don't include the likes of Wolverine (in which case what's the point?) or they confuse everyone and have younger versions of all the same characters, or they go with a spin-off team like the New Mutants, who never really fired the public's imagination. Unless it's like an X-Men Muppet Babies, in which case bring it on!

Secondly there's the possibility of a spin-off of a spin-off, with Deadpool being mooted. For those of you not au fait with your Marvel masked assassins, Deadpool's a wise-cracking mercenary with similar powers to Wolverine but better one-liners. Ryan Reynolds (a good fit for the role) is set to play him in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so would hopefully take the role again in any spin-off. From the spin-off. They could call it X-Men Origins: X-Men Mates: Deadpool.

And third and most radically, there's the possibility of a Daredevil reboot. As one of the few publications that didn't hate the first one, that doesn't seem immediately necessary (and a reboot didn't work for The Incredible Hulk), but as equal opportunities film fans, we're all in favour of more work for blind superheroes, so bring it on!

These are all mere possibilities for now (although the Deadpool idea has been on the cards ever since Reynolds was cast in Wolverine) but they're lots for comic fans to be going on with. So Marvel fans, begin your discussion: good ideas or bad ideas?

If Doom doesn't show up in S.I. at all its safe to say his upcoming title explains what he's been up to...

and the Spidey marriage is getting its BND update?

If THIS is true, it is complete blasphemy to the character of Captain America. It's one thing with Nick Fury, given his character in The Ultimates but Steve Rogers?!?

Is there a website anywhere with a comprehensive and non-partisan ranking of relative super-powered beings' power levels?

Failing that, in your estimation, what would you consider the twenty-five most offensively powerful non-cosmic Marvel characters?
