Sherlock Holmes, Boy Meets Girl [ 12.21.08 @ 12:38PM ] jellybean888 From the Daily Mail: Martin Freeman who will play Dr Watson, opposite Benedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock Holmes, in a modern-day look at Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective. Writer Stephen Moffat has penned a one-hour TV pilot drama with Mark Gatiss that places Holmes and Watson firmly in today's society. The Holmes-Watson friendship began in A Study In Scarlet with Holmes uttering the following: 'How are you? You have been to Afghanistan, I perceive.' The original Watson was in the second Afghan War and was wounded at the Battle of Maiwand. In the new pilot, Freeman's Watson would have seen service in the present campaign in Afghanistan. Filming starts in the New Year, and if this show works, BBC TV will order a full series. Next year, Freeman will be seen in Debbie Isitt's feature film comedy, Nativity, opposite John Sessions. The Robinsons on DVD [ 08.29.06 @ 3:26PM ] ozorbust The Robinsons was released on DVD in the US last week. It's not even available in the UK yet, so this is quite a surprise! I haven't had time to properly watch it yet, but there are some special features: Behind the Scenes (15:34), Outtakes (4:44), and commentaries on episodes 1 and 6. Listening to the first few seconds of the commentaries it appears that episode 1's has the creative cast (writer/producer/directors) with Martin and Hugh Bonneville joining them for episode 6. Martin Freeman (Tim) and Mackenzie Crook (Gareth) will guest star in an episode of the upcoming third season of the American remake, which stars Steve Carell in the lead role. It is unclear whether the pair will reprise their roles from the British series or play new parts. Ricky Gervais is said to be "considering" a part on the show, for which he serves as executive producer, but is unlikely to do so for some time. Of Brent's possible re-appearance, co-executive producer Ben Silverman told the New York Post: "We're going to save the big man for now."
