I know there probably isn't much else one could name this community, but does anyone worry that it might scare people off? (Though one could also say, "Well, if it scares them off, what do we need with them anyway.")

In saying that, I'm not aiming for the jugular by joining this community and posting in it. The fastest way to scare love off is to look for it. ^__^ Right now, I'm more concerned about making friends with people who think I have a hot accent or something like that. XD No, really... platonic or otherwise, I'm up for interaction.

I'm American, female, half Asian and half white, 25, single. (Leo/Sag/Virgo in western astrology, metal monkey in eastern, if you care.) My passions are paper, art, food, tea, wine, writing, languages, earth religions, and cultures (mostly foreign, but even my own). I have a serious penchant for foreign entertainment (yes, anime and Brit comedy, mostly, but I'll watch anything good). I'm also obsessed with electronic music. My weakness is computer geeks with shared interests. (I also have a weakness for Yorkshire and men from it, but anyway...) See my profile for more detailed information.

Lets get married.. you must be a hot american girl with a cute smile and nice shoes. The plan is to get married in Vegas and get a place in NYC and have as much fun along the way; causing riotous trouble and setting fires. When NYC weather gets too much, we can just move back to my London apartment.

Hi there

So my name's Abby, I recently got out of a relationship with a Brit living nearish London (Berks, to be specific) and after two years I absolutely fell in love with the culture, the people and the whole area.
I'm not actually too liberal (gasp) but not too conservative and I don't debate politics anymore with people who have opposing viewpoints, not because I don't wish to change my mind but because I really don't want to fight anymore.

After the relationship with this guy (who, long story short, let me spend a lot of money to fly from Atlanta just to be told that we weren't together anymore... something he could have told me before I got on the plane, so at least I would know what to expect) I am left with a deep love of the UK and N Ireland and really, really want to move there.

I'm 23, 24 in December and not doing a lot with my life at the moment. I'm looking for friends right now but most definitely my goal is to live in the UK (but not expatriate, because I want the option to return to the states without a lot of trouble in the future), and that's about it.

Errrrrr... hi.

Newbie

Hello everyone!

I got this community off of another person's post, and I thought it would be fun to join since I aint meeting anyone.

My name is Rebecca, but everyone calls me Lyndsey, I'm an 18 year old American from Florida. I was born and raised hear, but don't exactly fit in here. I have an extreme liking for English Football, and Rugby. I can usually blend really well with other people, musically and in other areas.

I like to go out and have fun, but I'm in my element the most when I'm at home cuddled up on the sofa, with my hunny watching a movie. I don't mind hanging out with my boyfriend's friends, as long as they don't think of me as just a dumb yank.

I have a thing for British guys, mainly South England and Wales. I plan on moving to Cardiff next summer, or if I go on Holiday there next January I'll be moving there next October.

I plan to study film, drama, and like. Aswell as take acting and singing lessons. So guys feel free to friend me, and get to know me better.

Lyndsey xx

Interesting indeed...

Just got word of this group through the grapevine, and was quite amused and figured I'd participate. My main question is: are there any actual non-Americans in this community??? Seems like a bunch of desperate emigrants like myself all realising that they're just clumping together all over again... what a shame. BUT WHAT FUN IN THE EFFORT! So here I go...

20-year-old white male (American citizen, unfortunately, although not American) currently living in San Diego, CA, USA. Typical poor US-college student situation... working to get undergraduates' in linguistics for teaching and eventual anthropological research (Doctorate-bound...). Speak German as well as my Ami mothertongue (but trying to adapt it to the proper British... :)). Know a smattering of Norwegian Bokmål as well as learning Swedish. Love travelling, reading, archery, nature, philosophy, music, and a bunch of other stuff of course. Amateur author and graphic artist.

Also working like mad to secure living overseas within the year 2005, either study or work, temporary or permanent. Hopefully permanent...

Hate to pick a mate just on the culture they came from (hey, doesn't everyone? ;)), but the country I feel most at home in is Sweden. So looking for a young Swedish female I guess!... but just for PC's sake, I love Germany, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, and Norway as well...

I'm officially a dork now.

Ha! I just found this community. I love the concept. As an anglophile, I've always had the pipe dream of marrying a Brit. And hopefully I'll get to go study abroad in London next year (crosses fingers).

This community is funny. So I joined. :)

I'm an American who is actually attempting to transfer with my company to London within the next year. I just love all those people who tell me that if I dont like the way things are in America, then I should leave. So now I'm heeding the advice of the rednecks and attempting to do just this. Luckily, my company offers the possibility of an international transfer since I graduated college already and don't really have any skills to offer as a worker. However, I hadn't even considered marriage as a method of obtaining a visa! Perhaps I'll make that my backup plan.

Just in case - I'm 22, blonde, love reading, drinking whiskey, and riding horses (but not all at the same time), and my little dog Wookie comes with me. I like tall guys who smell good and make me laugh. It helps if you can cook too. ;)

But seriously, since I'm trying to move, it would be nice to get to know some people since I know approximately zero people in England with the exception of this musician guy I had a one-night stand with who was in town for the South by Southwest conference. And I don't think I'll be calling him when I get to London.

Sorry for the rambling - I should get some sleep.

i have a question that i can't find an answer to ;_;

what would i have to go through to marry a french girl and get her to live in america with me, assuming we were both adults? sorry if it seems sort of emotionless the way i said it ~ but the details aren't too important. i've heard too many conflicting things and thought some people here might have some information.

Yay.

Hark! I had a thought. Someone so kindly pointed out to me the fact that if an American marries a foreigner and they live here in the Divided States of America then, said foreigner can become a naturalised DS (remember, it's the *Divided* States now) citizen who is--*trumpet fanfare*--eligible to vote!!!

So, basically, this greatly expands the options available to disenfranchised Americans to the following:

Sucking it up, getting used to the oppression and retreating further into the mythical, virtual and pr0n-ful world on teh internets.

Flee!!! For the love of Hugh Hefner, Flee!!!!!111one!!!!!

Recruit others to increase the liberal voting power. ETA: Also, increasing the population of accented people living here makes me happy and that is something I largely support.

</ol>
So, feel free to expand the community's scope to not just seeking a ticket out of here but to bring others (Only of a like mind!! No importing conservatives!!! I'll charge a tariff or something.) to the land of McDonalds and Other Useless Stuff.
Satirically yours,
Me

ahaha.. finally, a place where I can whore out myself to all those international lovelies.

ohkai, the stats. 18, female american, single as the day she was born. Freshman at Florida Gulf Coast University with a major in Criminal Forensics, but I am thinking of changing that to Computer Graphics Design/Animation.

Likes-
reading, writing, roleplaying, cloves, anime, web comics, smoking, tattoos, piercings, rain, winter, odd humor, VAMPIRES, and boys who wear eyeliner (you never know..), and guys who are gentlemen but still have notoriously bad mouths (nothing like having someone politely open a door for you whilst cursing up a storm..), the color pink

Dislikes-
Strict conservatives, racists, egotistical asshats, prudes

well, I am not sure what else there is to tell. questions? ask me. I'll answer to the best of my ability.

<3 cor

Hi. I'm a 19-year-old guy from Kent, the southeast corner of England (and have the accent to go with it). I like horse riding, play the clarinet, practice aikido (a soft martial art), study linguistics and psychology in Bristol, And spend ungodly numbers of hours on the internet, often late at night. Much of that is spent talking to my girlfriend in California. I'd mention her LJ username, but I'm the only one allowed to stalk her. We lurve each other, talk nonsense a lot, talk on the phone (there are ways of getting cheap calls) and next year she's studying abroad for a year here in England with me.

...
I just thought you'd like to know. We are out here.

Anyone but Bush 2008!
