only problem is, with a new computer, and new yahoo anti-virus things, it won't let me play maple becuase of a gameguard error.
i know that a lot of other people have had this error in the past. sorry for the repeat ><"

Update: Everything is fixed. ^^; I did a Windows Update and, 44 updates later, the game works.

I guess I should check for updates more often. >_>...

I finally made 34 today, due to the Maple History Book quest, which I just realized I had finished, and didn't need to train as much. >__< I have one level until I get new clothes, and alot more money (as I sell my junk, because I am uber poor xD), but that level's gonna take ages. I won't be on all day tommorow, being that I have a pixel I want to do, cosplay to start, and places to go (D: I want my day to be a day oooff!). Basically, Just see if I'm on when you are, and If I am, whisper me if you're on Ludi/Omega. xD

And if you're on now, yey. I'm still on, I can use all the help I can. ;)


Oh, and anyone know what "invalid pointer" means? I was wandering the Cash shop a while ago, and I forgot what I clicked on, but it faded out and then came up with that error. Had to re-log in. O__o

okay okay, my last post got WAY too confusing, so lets try this again

Here is how to keep your own splash screen for loading maplestory

start by *copying* your splash.jpg in your MAIN maplestory folder

1) open notepad
2) paste this:

del "C:\Program Files\Wizet\MapleStory\GameGuard\Splash.jpg"
copy "C:\program files\wizet\MapleStory\Splash.jpg" "C:\Program Files\Wizet\MapleStory\GameGuard"
run "C:\Program Files\Wizet\MapleStory\MapleStory.exe"

note: copy should be on one line

3) save it as MapleSplash.bat
4) put MapleSplash.bat anywhere you want, on your desktop for example, and it run it to open maple, and your splash will always show up
4a) make that, put the bat in your maple folder, and make a shortcut and put THAT anywhere

once you do it once you only have to do step 4, meaning its no more difficult than normally opening maple

this is MUCH better lol

so a while back someone posted that if you replace the Splash jpg in the gameguard file, you can replace what picture pops up when you open MS

ionno if anyone noticed this yet, but everytime i replace it and start up MS, gameguard automatically re-downloads the old splash jpg file...

and i was wondering this past week why my jpg didn't stay in the folder...

An error has occurred while resetting GameGuard. Please try rebooting the system before restarting the client, or close all programs that may potentially collide with the client before restarting. We recommend running virus/spyware checks for your system.

I wouldn't be surprised if GameGuard was the virus/spyware program.

Well... Let's go ahead and MODIFY SOMETHING!!

Go into the main Wizet folder in your Program Files, go into GameGuard (Alternately, right-click the Maple Story ison on your desktop, select Properties, go to Find Target, and go to the Game Guard folder.) and remove that Splash.jpg file from there.
You know that picture that pops up when you start Maple Story? That's it.

Now, replace it with this:



Or any other image of your choice. Just gotta rename it to Splash and have it as a JPEG format.
And there you have it. Instant customization.

Here's how it'll look from my point of view...

Oh, this trick only works once... then reverts itself back to the old splash image.
However, you're able to do this repeatedly for fun, at no program damage WHATSOEVER!

A Summary of Errors

error (110) — GameMon is already running. Either close GameMon process or reboot and execute again.

error (115) — Game has been executed multiple times, or GameGuard is already running. Close the game and restart.

error(112) — Failed to load modules for checking viruses and hacking tools. Possible causes are lack of memory and virus infection.

error (114) — Failed to initialize GameMon. Try rebooting or closing possible programs that can cause a collision.

error (124) — GameGuard.des file does not exist or is modified. This can be resolved by installing GameGuard setup file.

error (150) — Setup file for GameGuard does not exist or is corrupted. Download setup file for GameGuard and install at GameGuard folder.

error (153) — GameGuard.des does not exist or is corrupted. Re-install of GameGuard setup file should solve this problem.

error (155) —Windows system file is damaged. It is recommended to check virus, andreinstall Internet Explorer or rsabase.dll in the system folderaccording to Internet Explorer version.

error (170) — Failed to execute GameGuard process. Reinstall the GameGuard setup file and try running the game again.

error (200) — An illegal program has been detected. Close unnecessary programs and try again.

error (380) — Failed to connect to the GameGuard update server. Try connecting again in a while, or check the network connection.

error (340) — Failed to download. Network might not be stable currently, Internet or firewall settings might be having some problems.

error (350) —Cancel(Abort) button has been clicked while updating. If it is due tothe failure of connection, try connecting again or confirm its networkstatus.

error (360) — Update is not successful or GameGuard file is corrupted. Try again in a minute, or check the firewall settings.

Taken from the MSEA website here (which happens to be Firefox friendly!). They actually have an FAQ and provide some help on solving some of these errors!

Crap, now I'm getting error 114 T.T Anyone know what to do?

Hokay... I'm jumping the bandwagon.

I downloaded the MSEA client after a grueling seven and a half hours. I get it installed.
I run the program. Game Guard does it's stuff and the screen flashes a few times.

Then I get this:

Does anyone else have problems with the protect guard not connecting? If so how do you fix it?

someone else got problems to connect? or am i the onlt one?

The nProtect Gameguard Update can't connect, and i have to press "retry" over and over :/ And still don't works...

So I was online and all of a sudden it disconnected me to the main login screen. I logged back in, chose my channel and character, and then it logged me out again of the entire game.
When I tried to log back in I got this message:
GameGuard: Initialize Failed (360)
Fail to complete GameGuard update. Suspend Anti-Virus program temporarily and try the game, or check the settings of PC management programs if any.

The file it's trying to install is called npggNT.npz >> npgg.NT.des and I have no idea what that means, but the fact it's asking me to turn off my anti-virus is scaring me. Is this a normal update or a hack or am I just being absurd?
