The joke used to be that we'd trade Antropov for a bag of pucks. Personally, I think this season he was worth a little more than that, let alone two draft picks.
And Dominic Moore for one second-rounder? Really?
I know we don't have anyone on track for 80 points this season, but not only are we losing two of our top players, but the chemistry that was between them and their line-mates.
Draft picks might help us anywhere between 1 and 7+ years, and even then they're not a sure bet. If we got at least one current player in return in one of those trades, I'd probably think it's overall reasonable. But, personally, I'd give Burke a failing grade.
On the other hand, Gerber to replace Toskala while he's in the IR.... could work.

| Camera rules |
[24 Feb 2009|11:25am] |
I've just won tickets to a Leafs game (woot!) so I'm trying to find out if I can take my digital camera (SLR) and if so, what size lens is allowed. Can anyone point me at an actual rule? I've heard from people with differing experiences.
Update: Never mind - someone pointed me at this page which, unfortunately, says the limit is a 75mm lens for a dSLR.Video cameras are NOT permitted. Non-flash still photography is permitted; however, if the lens is detachable it must not exceed 75mm.

How motherfucking great did it feel on Saturday night to watch 6 unanswered goals against Pittsburgh? I was in Montreal oddly enough and missed the rest of the game. I watched it get to be 2-0 Pens. But, wow, that was amazing. We seem to stink the place out against Buffalo every time we play them, but let's beat Columbus tonight. And ACC fans, give Sundin a standing o on Saturday. Whatever you do, don't boo him! We boo too much now, getting like Habs fans. We can't have that!

| Two types of Leaf Games |
[05 Feb 2009|02:15pm] |
|
I have come to realize that there are two types of Leaf games, exemplified in the last two nights. First, there is the game in which the Leafs lead 3-1 or 4-1, and then cough up that lead, often losing in overtime. Then, there is the game in which they neither shoot nor score, and register a 5- or 6-goal defeat. Good season. I know this is a rebuilding year, but I just had to get out that frustration!

Ryan Dixon says that Sundin still matters
You bet he's still a force to be reckoned with! I don't think that his NOT being on the Leafs is going to change my "affection" for him. I love Mats! He's still one of my favourite players, and I'm pretty sure always will be. While he may get booed at the ACC when he visits with the Canucks in Feb (and that sucks, and I really hope it's not as bad as I think it will be), I'll be cheering for him, even if he scores against my beloved Buds. He's my kind of hockey player. Of course, I'd rather he was still on the Leafs, and would stay there until he retires, but the new management has shown themselves to be about change, as opposed to loyalty. Which is NOT a bad thing, just an unfortunate thing, IMHO, when it comes to our ex-Captain who gave us 14 great years! To spout off some stats, he had been the second-longest active serving captain in the NHL (behind Joe Sakic of the Colorado Avalanche), and the longest serving non-North American born captain in NHL history. And he has spent his entire career in the NHL, north of 49. Now THAT'S something! :)
PS. I know not everyone is a fan, and I fully expect negative comments...just be polite, okay?

Brad May (37) is the newest Leaf. Traded from Anaheim for a conditional sixth round draft pick in 2010.
At least we got him for cheap?
