Filed this under rumored plus for the time being, but Jen at Yaoi Suki (through the Yahoo Yaoi in English Group) found one of two new titles entered into the Amazon database by new BL manga imprint Deux. These two new titles from Kano Shiuko are scheduled for release in Feb 2008

Its about the Moe not the MoéI have to say, I don't know where to go with that header but I just found that hilarious. But when you are talking about moé you can easily be talking about manga. There is tonnes of it in manga. And the best kinds in my opinion are the ones that are not as pervasive. Take "Country of Cherry Blossoms" and the Hiroshima Carp fanservice... That goes over the heads of most readers but to a baseball fan or a fan of the Carp... MOE!!!
Nagai Go's manga has never been about subtle! But many of his titles defintiely have that moé factor going. Honey Flash!! And I have never met an otaku that doesn't feel male sukeban are moé. Getter Robo... Why mecha are so sexy!?! Who needs brains when the art is so mmm mmm good!
Takeshi Miyazawa understands moe and moé. Working on Spiderman Loves Mary Jane does that to a man, but going to the office that churned out titles like - Mahoromatic, Ikki Tousen, Amaenaideyo! and Front Sight of Alice - means he is serious about the moe.
There is plenty of moé in BL. Not sure what kind of moé Aurora will be going for with their Deux line but you know the fujoshi will be looking for it when they get their hands on those books later this year.
The MangaBlog will be sharing their moe and moé news this week.

More from Aurora... And more from Deux... All this josei and BL might really make Simon Jones cry! Being a ladies manga fan I will take Simon crying over his bakunyuu manga any day for the chance to read titles like Walking Butterfly in English. Sorry EroManga fans...
ICv2 shares info on three more titles from the new pub from SoCal. And technically yes Simon Akuma no OMise is a ladies title (I believe this ran in Hontou ni Ata Kowai no Hanashi a josei horror mag!)
Oh and I don't think Stellar Shuppan is around anymore. If it is please let me know. The cover here is from the Ohzora Shuppan bunko reprint they released in 2006.

New publisher and apparently new imprint and that means new manga!! You have heard a bit about Aurora Pub (check out the new site) over the last week or so. The publisher has actually been around in Southern California for almost a year now. They were scheduled to make a debut at YaoiCon 06 but pulled out last minute. But now they are ready and they are bringing it with a new imprint and two new titles to announce.
Both titles skew for the women but I have been told to expect more from them. Hmmm.
Very interesting. Okay, I knew they were doing BL. Anyone going to a BL only con is going to be releasing BL. The rest was not so clear.
Why? Well, honestly who has been successful with josei. Whether you call it ladies or shoujo or Passion Fruit or whatever this has not hit its audience in the US. Yen Press is going to give it a shot (we will talk about that later) but what makes Aurora unique is that their parent company Ohzora is basically a josei manga publisher. Way more than 50% of what they pump out is for the ladies. At the same time, as their BL line has already shown, this Japanese publisher will be licensing books from other publishers. That is going to make things very very interesting (especially when considering the number of artists who have worked for Ohzora over the years... doing Harlequin and all those anthologies collections). Still the other "unannounced" titles are all josei as well.
Ahhh! Sorry, if I am using a different cover than what is on Deux's site. This is the most current one from the new publisher... Huh? (You thought Libre bought BiBLOS' entire catalog...) No, like Yellow (now an enterbrain! property) Tateno Makoto's Kirai Kiraimo is now being distributed by another pub: Shusuisha.
That said, Deux did something very smart on their homepage... all images copyright Tateno Makoto and Deux. No mention of the old publisher. Looks like they crossed their "t"s and dotted their "i"s.

Japanese manga originated as entertainment for children, and eventually developed into entertainment for youth. It has expanded to include such a wide array of diverse genres that it is now enjoyed by adults, young and old. One of the reasons why Japanese manga has been so successful is because it uniquely describes human emotions. Many of the greatest Japanese manga works explore why we love, why we hate, or why we betray those that are close to us. They investigate fundamental and universal human themes. It is Aurora’s mission to introduce the highest quality Japanese manga titles to the wider population of North America, and develop the manga market here for a more mature audience. In order to provide North American readers with the best titles in a variety of genres, Aurora Publishing, Inc. has organized a consortium with several other manga publishers in Japan. Aurora Publishing, Inc. believes that manga will find its own place, a huge one, in the capitol (and capital) of worldwide entertainment.

“Walkin’ Butterfly” by Chihiro Tamaki
Torrance, CA
March, 2007
-"Walkin' Butterfly" is the story of the metamorphosis of Michiko, set in the world of Japanese high fashion. As a tall girl, Michiko has never fit in… literally. She has always felt different and she can’t accept herself. Her height is matched only by her complex about it. While delivering pizzas at a fashion show she is mistaken for a model and thrust on stage. Mihara, the show’s designer, confronts her and tells her that she can’t walk down the catwalk because she doesn’t know her true self. From that moment on, Michiko is determined to find her place in the world as a model, and as a young woman. Can she find the inner strength to undergo a spectacular transformation? Is Michiko up to the challenge? Just try her. "Walkin’ Butterfly" is as chic as a Tokyo catwalk.
