SLAM DUNK!!!
Viz panels in the past tended to be nothing but PowerPoint with about 10min of Q&A. The Shonen Jump panel was possibly the loosest I have ever seen the group and the attitude and content drew applause from the Narutards and the wotaku in the crowd.

More manly man Naruto starting in December is a good thing for 99.1% percent of you. BLEACH joining SJ this October (November Issue) will be a big boost. And a preview of the most beloved manga of all time pushed me over the brink that even I have signed up to the SJ. I want to have that issue bronzed by XMas!!

SLAM DUNK!!! Just the hint of the manga made grown women in the audience cry. SLAM DUNK!!! Made manly men dance like the little girls in Nakayoshi! You will buy this book. You will enjoy the book and you will want to buy them all!! There are no other options.

SLAM DUNK
by: 井上 雄彦

Slam Dunk
by: Inoue Takehiko

Shueisha/Jump Comics
32 vol/shounen

As much as I love the old covers, I wanted to show the Complete Collection art for Slam Dunk. Clearly a Slam Dunk for fans of Inoue's art and looking at Sakuragi Hanamichi shove that sphere through that hoop should make this a slam dunk for all of you.

ARRRGHHH!! It’s official, Bleach is moving to the magazine :( Hopefully it’ll be temporary.

I know this is kind of silly, but if you’re a Bleach fan send emails to Viz and let them know how bad this idea is. Bleach being in the magazine means the volumes will be 4 months apart or more.

http://www.viz.com/about/contact/contact.php Send it to shonen jump

If this pisses you off as much as it pisses me off, please let them know, and tell your fellow Bleach fans to let them know as well.

Bleach moving is a good thing

Let's face some business realities
1. Shonen Jump needs to maintain it's readership and circulation to continue as a magazine. DBZ and YGO launched the magazine as the stars and are gone. One Piece has failed to catch on and for whatever pathetic reason they continue to believe running Yu Yu Hakosho is important. Fact is that Bleach is the only thing approaching Naruto in terms of popularity on a regular basis for the masses (Death Note skews older). If you want Shonen Jump to continue (if for no other reason than getting some translated manga sooner and likewise to include other important works like Katyeko Hitman Reborn!, MxO and To-Love_ru (Blue Dragon will probably come over) that can actually benefit from being in the book and likewise, benefit the book then Bleach is importent.

2. Bleach volumes are quickly catching up to their Japanese releases. I mean, they just finished the Soul Society arc and the Vizard arc is pretty quick before the Hueco Mundo begins (which the anime will take some time to for both because it will spend a year on Bount) so in Viz's mind..they'll win..slow down Bleach launches with original (to US readers) minds while the anime offers all-new stories never before seen to US and not covered in the manga...same approach with Naruto.

3. No biggie cuz Bleach is the weakest manga in SJ IMO... naruto, One piece and then pick any title from Reborn!, Muhjo and Rosie, Claymore, Eyeshield 21, Gintama---these are so much more superior with better stories and more advancement of plot than the X-men lite work that is within Bleach.

Hopefully Slam Dunk does good enough for Viz to license REAL.

Well with two of their most popular Jump titles running in Shonen Jump maybe One Piece can get bumped off like Shaman King and be given a faster release. I don't care for the magazine at all so having the one title I read from it being hindered by two chapters a month is ridiculous.

So Viz is releasing the 24-volume Premium Edition of Slam Dunk! ? If they are, I'm double dipping on the Premium Edition (yes, I have the original Japanese Premium Edition). I feel like a closet Slam Dunk! fan (looks at the R2J DVD Boxset - Sakuragi Hanamichi edition) =P Maybe I am...

Not sure if they are yet. Viz is working directly with Inoue-sensei and his IT Planning to make this a success. I personally would like to see this title treated at least well as Vagabond. (Did you know Inoue-sensei himself designed the english logo?)

I really just posted up that image because I wanted to give you all a taste of those covers. And a taste of a Sakuragi Hanamichi DUNK!!!

They (Viz and IT Planning) should just go straight and release the Premium Edition. There's no need to pussyfoot around it. Slam Dunk deserves to be issued that way.

What I want now is an official poster of that full-colour 2-page spread towards the end of the Premium Edition Volume 24 (last volume). You should know which one ;-) What a glorious poster it would be.
