2006 Nebula Awards (Best SciFi)
If you know Jarred, you know he is a few things...

One) He's a SAMA fan. Sports anime and manga is what he is about. So much so I have to go get Hajime no Ippo dj's for him when I go to Comiket. I might give him a special treat this winter by shopping in the Formula 1 section. Imagine his face when he gets a Schumacher doujinshi!

Two) He is a sci-fi fan. He has done a couple shows on sci-fi and come on anyone who would dare read Project ARMS and admit he enjoyed it is dedicated. The repressed rage that was felt when he found out I got The Two Faces of Tomorrow could have caused an office fire.

Three) He sure as heck ain't a moe fan. Just by association he isn't a MediaWorks fan. If he knew enterbrain! released more bishojo than alternative he'd possibly avoid Comix Beam altogether also. I won't tell if you don't.

So when Jarred found out about the 2006 Nebula Awards included a couple manga titles (one of them recently licensed) he immediately shot me and David an email. SF titles tend to be pushed back into the recesses of manga magazines. Actually the good stuff might not even make it into manga form anymore. The great properties are Hayakawa Shoten exclusives by default.

A couple of these are coming. And if publishers are reading this we want the rest some time soon. I especially want Onmyoji because it is one of the strangest looking/reading manga I read in a while. I wouldn't call it sci-fi, but definitely hi-fi. And reading about the Anno Household through Moyoco's storytelling sounds like a whole new world of sci-fi altogether.

Yes! Kaguya Hime is the best. Now, would it get licensed?
There's yuri, yaoi implications, pedophiles, sort of incest, beheading, and all sorts of factors bookstores might frown upon.

Still, it's a great series.
And I'm not even a sci-fi fan.

I love the Onmyouji manga. I have a couple of volumes just to look at the pretty art.
I'd dance with joy if it got licensed.
