copellia. Every week, you will be given a picture or theme. Then, you make an icon that has to do with that challenge.

S U B M I S S I O N

You submit by leaving a comment on the challenge post with your icon. Comments on challenge posts will be screened, so only you and the original poster will see them.

Please use the following format for submission. Include the icon and url. Your submission should look something like this:

1. One icon per contestant per challenge (unless otherwise stated).
2. Only use black and white manga images for this icontest.
3. If you submit an icon, it must be your own personal work.
NOTE: Do NOT use someone else's icons, follow tutorials too closely, or use bases that require credit (it's generally better to make your own).
4. All icons must meet livejournal standards - under 40kb and 100x100px in GIF, JPG, or PNG format.
5. Icons must be remotely hosted on a site that allows direct linking (you can use a free Photobucket account). Userpics isn't a valid form of hosting.
6. Keep icons anonymous throughout the run of the contest (don’t post them elsewhere before voting is over). You may not submit an icon that you have used or posted elsewhere.
7. Mods are allowed to enter challenges, but only challenges run by another mod.

T H E M E S

Scan Challenge Rules:
One or two black and white manga scan will be provided for you to make an icon from. Color, brush, crop, and animate the icon however you want but the only manga/anime image in the icon should be the one provided. Mini movies and blends using other anime/manga pictures are not allowed. However, stock photography and texture images are allowed.

Theme Challenge Rules:
A theme will be posted and you may use any series you want as long as it's originally a manga scan. The icon must fit the theme. Usually you can interpret these themes however you want, and can usually use other words unless otherwise stated.

Lyric Challenge Rules:
The lyrics to a song will be posted and you can take any part of that song for the text on your icon. You can use as little or as much of the text as you want as long as the text from the song is the only text on the icon. You can use an image from any manga series you want as long as the image is a black and white manga image. Please don't just take and anime image or a color manga image and make it black and white because we'll be able to tell. You can color a black and white manga image however you want but it you must start out with a black and white manga image.

V O T I N G

Voting occurs in response to the voting post via a poll or comments. You must be a member of the community to vote. All members of the community are allowed to vote regardless of whether they submitted an icon. Votes are weighted, so make sure to vote in proper rank. You may not vote for your own icon.

1-3 entries: 1st Place Winner
4-6 entries: 1st and 2nd Place
7-9 entries: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place
10 entries and up: 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place, and special category like Best Use of Color or Most Original Design.

**Mod's Choice will be included with results if there are 4 icons or more in the voting; the Mod's Choice can be awarded to any icon, if it places or not.**

D I S Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S

A moderator will attempt to warn you if your icon is submitted improperly or if you break any of the rules; however, the moderators reserve the right to disqualify your icon without warning if it is improperly submitted or you break any of the rules.
