Pastoral
Title: Pastoral
Author: [info]cruisedirector
Words: 100
Rating: R
Characters: Diana (Jack, Stephen)
Rum: This doesn't really fit the challenge so I don't know if it counts, but if it does, Diana gets to drink.
Comments: Not that this ever would have happened but if it did, it would be set during Post Captain.

It is wicked even to think of it, yet Diana knows it would be simple to bring about. She must only invite them both, requesting that Aubrey come to the front door while telling Maturin to visit her privately. Stephen certainly suspects Jack already, and how could Jack be shocked to learn that she had another caller?

She has already taunted Maturin that he is all but married to the man, while Aubrey has been in the Navy all his life. A trio, she might suggest, running her fingers over their hands, a harmonious concerto, with herself as the instrument.

Oh, smart girl Diana! Am definitely jealous of her position.

mmmmmmmm, *drifts off to fantasy-land*

She's conniving and devious. I love that in a woman. Especially in that era.

Oh absolutely - sod assertiveness; these are qualities to be admired in any era, especially if they reap this kind of reward. *VEG*

Who would you want to play her, though? See, my feelings on book!Diana are mixed - I love that she's all strong and independent, but she also treats my beloved Stephen like crap. I feel like I could either love or hate movie!Diana depending on the person who plays her.

I am sure I am going to hell for this, but Jennifer Connelly has been playing Diana in my head since I first saw M&C. *g*

Ohgod. Then we are both crazy. I have admitted this to no one but myself 'cause I can't escape the feeling it verges on Real Life circumstance. we can go to hell together!

come on: now everyone else admit they were just giving Jennifer Connelly the proper English accent and voila!

Yes, the RPF possibilities are -- hold on one second.

*bashes bunnies over the head with a cannonball*

Ahem. It is simply that Ms. Connelly is a very fine actress and has nothing to do with how hot she and Mr. Crowe were in ABM, nor with how hot Mr. Crowe and Mr. Bettany were in ABM, and certainly not with how hot Mr. Bettany and Ms. Connelly were in those tabloid pictures before anyone was supposed to know they were dating

Um! The weather is great here! Much warmer than last week. How about you?

No, don't strangle her, I love her too much. If I can't have Jack and Stephen naked at the same time then I don't begrudge her having them!

Thanks. ;)

Mmm, define unhappy. By the end of the series she's not in a bad way a'tall really, but there's a great lot of angsting in the interim, on all accounts.

Re:

*laughs* Oh dont worry, I have read most of them (at least in parts and out of order, lol), so I know it would have to be in like the last three books if something like that does happen. There's an endless amount of angst with her and Stephen, but I hadn't heard anything to the effect that she kicks it. Gah, I really hope not, as if Stephen doesn't have enough problems.

Yummy, both Stephen and Jack. 'Cause really, how could you choice between the two. And why should you if you could have both? Makes me think of a line from a Lou Reed song "It's always been my fancy, to make it with Frank and Nancy...."

Because we weren't around to threaten him with our matching icons! :)

Seriously, though, I enjoyed the Jack/Stephen/Diana possibilities that came out of "Post Captain." Even if the three of them never had any sort of orgiastic gathering, there is still the time-honored tradition of men sleeping with each other by having sex with the same woman...the whole Arthur/Guinevere/Lance triad, played out on so many bodies before and since. :)

Thanks again for the lovely drabble,

Fuschia

More? You mean, like, actually write the OOC, out-of-canon scene in which Stephen, seeing his cob and figuring out that Jack is there with Diana, doesn't turn around and get all pouty but keeps right on going until he's got them both naked, sweaty and...

Um. *sweats* I can't resist puppy dog eyes, is all!

Hee! I am only halfway through Post Captain and don't know exactly how naughty Diana is -- I can't tell if she's playing a game of chicken to see if one of them will leave and she'll get the survivor, or if she genuinely likes both of them.
