10:23 pm - What are YOUR racist experiences like?

fantasyecho
We know racism is pretty much part of the institution in Malaysia. At least, we like to say so. But how racist do we get, on an individual basis? Tell us about your racist experiences or instances you've faced in Malaysia: What did/do you face that was racist and discriminatory against you or someone you knew/know? When did you first become aware of racism, not just as a word, but as an actual experience that people actually go through? What do you feel would be practical solutions in combating racism? Have you ever tried 'em?

Thread rules: No personal insults, no slagging on another race just because you had a shitty experience (srsly, it's not all about you, mkay?), no attacking a person for "misunderstanding" (if you want to explain, that's cool; but remember we all have different perspectives) and keep it polite and clean.

Moderators can delete this thread at their own discretion if they think it too inflammatory. I was inspired by a discussion somewhere else and wanted to throw it out here. We know racism exists; we should be able to confront things about ourselves as a people we might not want to.

12:19 am - HELP!

mistressnaoko
Hi all!

First, thanks for reading. I've been requested to come up with ideas of stuff you'd like to see on a LOCAL sports website. Scope of website will cover ALL local sports. We already have ideas like blogs, up to minute reporting, analysis and other standard items on our checklist, but we'd like (like most companies) something a little bit more.

What features would keep you coming back to a local sports site that covers everything from your usual major sports (e.g. football, cricket) to school meets and competitions?

Are there any interactive features you'd like to have?

What type of content would you like to see and why?

At this point in time we're open to anything and everything, so feel free to throw ideas and suggestions! Your help is greatly appreciated!

7:05 pm - are you anal?
dirtyhairyboy the word 'pogrom' was used to describe acts of violence against jews in the russian empire. some historians believe that the russian government used pogroms to deflect the russian public's(or the rakyat if you will) dissatisfaction with the government.
basically whenever the russians were upset with the government, the government would sometimes instigate pogroms to distract them.

anyways, isn't it strange how sodomy is a crime?
i myself am not a big fan of it but wherever i stick my penis(consensual sticking of it of course) should not be of anyone else's concern, especially the police or the judiciary.
and i'm pretty sure that what he did was consensual. i seriously don't think he's capable of raping a 23 year old at this age.

9:07 pm - One question, straight up!

karcy
I have a question that I wanna ask all the straight guys reading this.

HOW MUCH MONEY WILL YOU ACCEPT TO ADMIT THAT YOU KENA LIWAT*?

Okay. This is NOT a question to ask 'how much money will you accept to defame another person'. This is also not a question about whether or not that Famous Liwat Part Two actually happened or not.

This is a question: how much money will you accept to (okay, falsely) admit that you kena liwat?

Let's just say that the situation is just as high profile as Liwatan II that is going on now. You may or may not like the person you are accusing of meliwat you, your Peliwat partner may or may not be your boss, and Mr. Peliwat may or may not be a controversial local figure.

The only sure consequence of your action is that you will be known as Mr. Kena Liwat for the rest of your life.

So how much money will you accept?

Obviously, only answers by STRAIGHT MALES count. But other people are free to answer also!

* for those who cannot understand Malay, kena liwat = got buggered. Literally.

8:43 pm - Petrol Strike from tomorrow?

fatcatlim

Rumor is that there will be a petrol strike starting from tomorrow and that it will last for 3 days, so all petrol stations across the country will be closed. Apparently, people are already queuing up like crazy in Labuan and Sabah.

My tank is half-full, so I'm good for a few more days. What about you guys? Otherwise, I recommend pumping tonight.

2:57 pm - Sending a pet overseas

ticktockhearts
Hi :)

Have any of you ever courier-ed a pet to the States?

I will be leaving to the States soon & am planning to bring my dog along. I called the American Embassy & they strongly discourage the idea of putting my dog in the same flight as mine seeing how it is a 22-hour flight with many transits. Also because it is summer, the cabin might get too hot & my dog might die, eep. They suggested courier.

I already tried calling DHL, UPS & FedEx but according to their Customer Service staff, they don't offer such services.

Do any of you know of any pet courier services? Any info would be a tremendous help. Thank you in advance!

1:05 pm - Passport issue.

tequilabangbang
I'm hoping someone here can help me with this. I've asked the Malaysian embassy here but they don't seem to know and I'm getting worried.

I'm flying from Moscow back to KL on the 2nd of July. My passport expires on the 31st. Can I fly with said passport? I've heard you need 6 months validity at least, but others are saying since I'm flying home, it doesn't matter.

Can anyone tell me what's right? Do you know where/how I can get an proper answer? Thanks for your help.

10:38 am - Questions about setting up schools in Malaysia

divabat
What rules and laws govern the formation of schools in Malaysia? Do those same laws affect private schools?

For instance, if you set up a private school, are you required by law to administer the KBSM/KBSR curriculum? Do your students have to take UPSR/PMR/SPM/STPM?

What if you wanted to set up an alternative school - for example, one following the Sudbury Valley model? With the Sudbury Valley model, national curricula and standardized exams would go against everything the model stands for - democratic, student-centered education.

Would you need to get approval from the Government before setting up such a school? How and where would you get funding?

I noticed this in a Malaysian book store chain. Buddhism, Zen, Eastern Thought as Science Fiction?
Jeeperz... Maybe there are zealous religionists in there subverting other religions. *whisper* it's a conspiracy. LOL

5:59 pm - Petrol Price to increase to RM2.70 *tonight*

fatcatlim
"The new price of petrol is RM2.70 per litre beginning midnight tonight, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced just a moment ago. The 78 sen hike or 40 per cent increase is still below the anticipated RM4 per litre price projected earlier and among the cheapest in Asia."

Get ready for higher food and electricity prices to follow...

On the side note, I tried to rush to a gas station earlier near my housing area but there was already a looooooong queue of cars waiting in line. So I gave up. *sigh*

11:21 pm - Korean contact lens~

o_o_alex
I'm not sure if this allowed, but anyone interested?

my friend Zoeyi is selling korean contact lens..please refer to her  friendster photo album..
http://www.friendster.com/viewphotos.php?a=248046854&uid=13919310
She's selling one year and half-year contact lens. I think the price is quite reasonable, coz the market price for other brands are kinda expensive, like CIBA VISION's 3 months cost RM100+. But this 1 year contact lens cost at least the minimum RM125!
There's loads of patterns, like totally unique ones you can't find here.

All the price, patterns and her contact number is listed at Zoeyi's photo album.
PLEASE TAKE A LOOK!

Thanks~
