Bring friends who are new to BPAL as well, we love being enablers!! I have tons and tons of scents... rares, LE's, GC's, you name it. Also quite a few TAL and BPTP items. If you are looking to check out a specific blend, make sure to post here so I remember to bring it.

Cafe Netherworld is a wonderful cafe/coffeehouse/bar. They serve New Orleans styled food, adult beverages and coffee of course. They have a great staff who love love us and always ask us to come back. It's a relaxed vibe, big tables and plaenty of seating and they play some super fun music to keep us chipper. They even provide cups of coffee beans to clear our sniffers! It's easy to get to, right in the center of Cap Hill in Denver.

Time for another Colorado BPAL Meet-N-Sniff!!! I'm sure a bunch of us have Halloweenies and Yule blends we're dying to let the group smell, and try and sample before they come down on the site. I had wanted to do the Meet-N-Sniff before the Haloweenies came down, but life has been hectic with the huge Halloween party we threw.
This time around we're having a daytime BLACK PHOENIX ALCHEMY LAB Meet-N-Sniff again, and will be back at Netherworld since they've treated ud so well in the past and because it's nice and central. Plus the layout is great with a big table for us all to sit at and be able to pass and see the precious very easily. And they have tasty food and drinks and thats always a plus!
Remember, you don't have to own any BPAL to come, this is a great opportunity for you to sniff the scents and maybe even swap or buy a few off others. For those of you that do have BPAL, bring as much as you're comfortable with. I usually bring some of the rarer scents and of course the newest ones. Also feel free to bring other bath and body products you'd like to introduce people to. We're all scentaholics. :)

Disintegration was one of two places in Denver chosen to promote the new Ian Curtis/Joy Division movie "CONTROL." The promotional party, complete with give-aways, trailer clips, and more happens to fall on the same weekend as Disintegration's massive Halloween celebration. So in memory of Ian Curtis, and many other musicians and artists that have influenced our generation, Disintegration is proud to present "Dead Souls" a Halloween/Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration tonight Saturday, Oct. 27 at The Atrium (554 S. Broadway, Denver, CO).

Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the costume contest. In order to be eligble for the contest, you do need to be dressed in the theme... either Dia De Los Muertos or a dead idol of your liking.

Just a reninder that the Colorado BPAL Meet-N-Sniff is happening tonight. Details below:

It's time for another meetup! There's been bunches of new scents released and people have been emailing me asking me to arrange another gathering so we can share and play with these scents.
By popular demand and the fact that we always have so much fun there, we're having our BLACK PHOENIX ALCHEMY LAB Meet-N-Sniff at Double Daughters again. Those of you who haven't been there, it's a gorgeous bar with a Tim Burton/Edward Gorey feel to it. Perfect for us huh? They also have Happy Hour form 5-8 and great drink specials that start at 9, plus their drinks are sooooo good! Very creative with names like "Hollow Hills" and "St. Vitas Dance" (yay for Bauhaus drinks!). We will have the lounge part with couches and table reserved for us upstairs.

Remember, you don't have to own any BPAL to come, this is a great opportunity for you to sniff the scents and maybe even swap or buy a few off others. For those of you that do have BPAL, bring as much as you're comfortable with. I usually bring some of the rarer scents and of course the newest ones. Hooray for Moisturizing!

I've put myself on a shopping ban until June - no Bpal, books, cds, etc. The exceptions that I made were for the Harry Potter DVD and for lotion & body butter if I ran out or almost out.

Hooray, I'm almost out! This means that I could spend a little bit and buy some lotion and body butter. So, I went to MMU first and bought: Hemp-isphere in Chai, Jojoba-E Body Lotion in ThaiPhoon, and Sweet Fluff Body Butter in Whiskers and Buttermint Candy. After that, I went to Skindazzles and bought Whipped Body Frosting in: Rice Flower & Shea Type, Mayan Gold, Pumpkins on Parade, Breathless, and Lemon Sugar.

Of course, all of those are in smallish sizes - barring the Rice Flower and Shea since that's what I reach for when I don't know what I can wear under my Bpal of the day. Everything else was selected to go with various Bpal scent categories that I have.

It'll be great when the two orders arrive. Not only will it be fun to get girl stuff in the mail when I haven't for a while, but I'll need the stuff. I only have little bits of maybe 5 scents left and they just don't go with everything as you can imagine.

It's too bad I don't have a good reason to buy Bpal - like I've run out or something. Because I'd just love to. But, no. Must resist. This will have to be my smelly treat for the next three months. Then I can order some Bpal. Then another shopping ban. WAH!

There is a bath & body product company out of Canada, called MMU Cosmetics. I have ordered from them in the past, but found myself unemployed and .. well .. little luxuries fall by the wayside.

But mom sent me money for my birthday and Christmas, and since we're getting our bills paid of in the refinance with Founders, I though I'd go ahead and finally use some of that money. I hadn't intended on it even, but they have a Silver Mountain Water dupe, and Jason absolutely loves that scent. So I decided first that I'd buy him a roll-on scent of it, as well as some body-wash. Sambuca
Sambuca (also spelt Sambucca) is an anise-flavored liqueur. It is usually a clear liquid. Hi! I just joined this community. I hope to meet fellow candle lovers in the process.

I'm addicted to Yankee Candle. Everytime I go there I spend far too much money then I intended to. Good thing my addiction hasn't put me in debt. I adore the discontinued Aromatherapy line, especially Lavender & Herb and Ylang Ylang Mimosa. I was saddened to learn they just discontinued their Home Fragrance collection, including Orchid Rain, which was one of my favorites.

They just introduced their new spring line, which I must say is one of the best in years! I suggest everyone check out "Queen Ann's Lace", "Country Linen" and "Cottage Breeze". All are really fresh smelling, if you like that sorta thing!

Autumn / Harvest / Halloween scents

So-- spill. What smelly things are your mainstays for the season? What do you have on order? What things are you lusting after?

What I have: BPAL oils in Samhain, Mabon, Harvest Moon 2004, Lughnasadh, Hamadryad, The Lion, The Hesperides, Bengal, and Jack. I have pretty much all of the Yankee tarts in Fall/Spicy scents-- I particularly like Pumpkin Pie and Harvest. I'm in love with the Witches' Brew seasonal, too. FeMaledictions oils in Sleepy Hollow, Descent, Pumpkinhead, Bewitch, and Witchy Treats, as well as her soap in Merry Hallowe'en and an Irate Jack O'Lantern soap. Pumpkin face mask from Bath & Body Works.

What I've got on order: BPAL's Harvest Moon, Pumpkin Patch, Devil's Night, Dia de Los Muertos 2005, and Samhain 2005. A Femaledictions gift bag with one vial each of her limited edition scents. Skindazzles bath meringue in Boo, and whipped body frostings in Pumpkins on Parade, Abracadabra, and Halloween Cupcakes, as well as a few Ichabombs.

What I'm lusting after: The Halloween stuff from DarkCandles. The new gift set from Femaledictions. Pumpkin soap from DarkSwan. And I really would like a Halloween sample from DSH. A sample of Samhain Night from Toadstool soaps.

Places I don't like:
Stormsong (The scents were either weak, funny smelling, or just yuck); however, they have a huge selection of other items that might be their selling point. They were great customer service, after all. The wax bricks that I got just didn't do it for me.
Confederate Candles (Still haven't gotten my order, poor customer service, high BS factor)

Anybody have any wax loves other than those? How about new scents? Fall is coming just around the corner, so I love good fall scents.

Oh, Becky, and as per our discussion of earlier? The first tart listed on the Yankee page today is Amber Sunset. HEH.

1. What's your favorite Lunacy oil thus far?
Blue Moon, by far. Not only is it one of the most unique, beautiful perfumes I've ever worn, but it's an amazingly effective ritual oil, as well. When this comes out again in 2007, I will be ordering several bottles.
My next favorite would probably be Harvest Moon, for its beautiful and uncommon yellowness-- butter, hay, and autumnal blooms. I would have loved Frost Moon to bits because it's so evocative, but the prolonged scent of mints makes me somewhat queasy.

2. Rank the four 2004 Halloween blends according to preference.

I adore Samhain so much, and if this is an annual scent, I will buy it every year without fail. It's a daily scent for me in the autumn-- rich pumpkin infused with mullein over a damp, hallowed bed of fir.
Dia De Los Muertos would be next-- it smells completely different on me each time I wear it, alternating between cocoa and tobacco leaf.
Sugar Skull, while completely delightful in its brightness and uniqueness, is not necessarily I want to smell *like.* I wear it every now and again, though, when I'm feeling strange and disarming.
All Saint's came in last, but only by default because my skin chemistry and heavy florals are generally non-mixy things. This is surprisingly wearable and evocative, however, which is rare for me.

3. What was your biggest surprise oil, the one that you were amazed to find that you loved?

Eden, probably. I only ordered an imp because I figured that fig was an odd thing to smell like. Then I smelled it-- smooth waxy leaves and freshness, completely unexpected. The first thing I thought was "Caddy Compson smelled like leaves." I had a total English Major moment. I'm wearing Eden right now. There was also Iambe, which I expected to be too floral, but it's warm and glowy tea most of the time. I love it.

4. Of the 2004 Christmas LE blends that you tried, which was your favorite? Which was your least favorite?

I love Snow White because it's delicious and it always gets comments. It's one of those scents where you never quite know just exactly what it is you're smelling, but it evokes a memory, fuzzy and treasured. For me, that memory was curling up under a comforter with tea and a good book as the first snow begins to fall. I also loved Rose Red, though I rarely wear it. It's a fresh-cut, dew-dripping red rose, thorns and all. It smells completely different from most rose perfumes/notes because it's so true to the actual intent.
I disliked Yuletide on my skin because it smelled of generic potpourri. I might use my imp in my oil burner this year, though. I avoided Egg Nog like the plague because I was sure it'd turn my stomach.

5. Which of the Springtime in Arkham blends did you order? Which have you recieved? Favorite so far?

Ordered: Mi-Go Brain Canister (had a bubblegummy note that didn't mesh with me), Miskatonic University (so potent, and too sugary for me. I kept an imp), Shub Niggurath (the perfect gingerbread scent. My favorite by far). I'm swapping for imps of the rest, results forthcoming.

6. What's your favorite random LE? (Not a Halloween, Lunacy blend, Christmas blend, Kings & Queens, etc.)

Mabon. I think that'd be considered random, since there's not a full set of Sabbat blends. The ivy and blackberry wine mix is perfect for mid-Autumn. I'm also quite fond of Lughnasadh's mulled maraschino cherries and the childhood memories that June Gloom evokes (Lemonheads!). Also, Dead Man's Hand is so very, very sexy.

7. Kings and Queens - what's your favorite of the lot?

I've spent the least amount of time with these and so far, I've only not smelled King of Spades. I think I'd say King of Diamonds because of the odd, beachy feel I get from it. This might change as I try King of Clubs on my skin.

8. To Snake Oil or not to Snake Oil?

Give me aged Snake Oil or give me death.

9. Favorite dragon's blood blend (be it Ars Draconis or another blend)?

Tintagel. The dragon's blood and berry/wine notes blend so perfectly. Every time I wear it, I want a big, medieval-sized chunk of roast turkey leg. Sadly, I am not kidding.

10. What's your favorite aquatic blend?

Szepasszony, which I consider aquatic/ozoney. It's so off-kilter. Grass and slashing rain and wonderfully interesting.

11. What's your favorite note?

Amber. Spices. Sandalwood. Burbon Vanilla. Blackberry. Pomegranate. Lime. Coconut. Leather. I can't narrow it.

12. To floral or not to floral?

My chemistry makes 90% of all floral blends go headachy perfumey. I really have to like the rest of the notes to try something with flowers in it. Jasmine is the ultimate kiss of death.

13. Favorite discontinued blend?

Three Witches.

14. Favorite foody blend?

Midway was a delight. Shub Niggurath is wonderful. Jack, when it's not the evil pineapple of doom, is lovely.

15. Favorite spicy blend?

Sin, without a doubt. Hamadryad ranks a close second.

16. What was your most recent 'first time tried' blend?

I tried Blood Pearl last night. It was quite nice.

17. Bottles or imps?

Imps first, almost always, unless it's an LE I'm willing to chance.

18. Favorite way of enjoying Bpal besides wearing it?

I use some of the ritual oils. Other than that, sometimes I perfume my pillow so I have pleasant dreams.

19. Bpal first love?

Sin, I think. It was one of the first things I ever swapped for and has been a staple "I am a hot and sexy woman" scent ever since.

20. Is there a scent that you like that didn't hit so well with the masses?

Hmm. I don't know, really. I'm very fond of Titania, but I don't think it's disliked. I can't really think of anything off the top of my head.

21. Of the up and coming scents, what most piques your interest?

I have the Carnaval Noir scents on their way, and I can't wait to try Bearded Lady, Geek, and a few others. Some of the up-and-coming Lunars have my attention, like Hungry Ghost Moon. The as-yet un-announced Autumn blends have me all a-flutter with speculation. And then there's the Arthurian collection, as well.

22. Favorite unreleased scent (providing you've tried any)?
Pumpkin King. Delicious.

Also, to add, my own personal category favorites:

Favorite fruity blends:
1. The Hesperides - Golden, magic-hour apples.
2. Algaea - sweet, innocent peach blossom.
3. Persephone - Pomegranate and sweet tea rose.
4. Tarot: The Star - Lime! Mint! I smell like a mojito!
5. June Gloom (LE) - Lemonheads candy!

Sex in a bottle (on me):
1. Sin - amber, cinnamon, sandalwood.
2. The Lion - spiced amber
3. O - honey that smells like sex. I don't know why that makes sense, except it does.
4. All Night Long - One of Beth's voodoo blends. I use this in conjunction with other scents, and it works.
5. Snake Oil - a deep, sexual vanilla and spices.

Sex in a bottle (more masculine blends):
1. Dead Man's Hand - wear this, and I will jump you.
2. De Sade - slick, black leather.
3. Whitechapel - a sinister citrus. Hee.
4. Fenris Wolf - This is the masculine version of Sin, to my nose. I might have to get myself a bottle.
5. Oisin - fresh, clean, and still sexy.
*I'm expecting Golden Priapus to fall into this category; results forthcoming.

Favorite Voodoo/Ritual/TAL oils:
1. Yemaya - melon and saltwater. This was excellent for my Yemaya meditation.
2. Blue Moon - the ultimate circle-casting oil.
3. Aunt Caroline's Joy Mojo - it smells like cotton candy! If this doesn't put you in a good mood, almost nothing will.
4. All Night Long - ahem. French Love has similar results.
5. Somnus - you will sleep like someone whacked you with a lead pipe, minus the splitting headache when you wake up.

Favorite foody scents:
1. Dana O'Shee - grains and almonds and creamy milk. Yum.
2. Shub Niggurath - gingerbread cake.
3. Chimera - If Dana and Shub mated.
4. Midway - Funnel cake and cotton candy and buttered popcorn. Just like being in the middle of a fair.
5. Sudha Segara - creamy ginger, so much lighter than the rest of the group, but just as edible.

I didn't expect to like:
1. Iambe - the Sudanese amber combined with tea makes this positively glow.
2. Spellbound - this is a deep, dark black rose, sluggish and incensey and so mysterious. I rarely have the opportunity to wear it, but it's special nonetheless.
3. Tempest - ozone zing! This is so ozoney that it feels potently charged, which is why I like it.
4. Eden - I didn't expect this to be so fresh and lovely.
5. Hexxennacht (LE): I figured the pine would do me in, but instead, I got a lovely bonfire scent.

Favorite Limited Editions:
1. Blue Moon

I picked up one of Yankee Candles' new Macintosh Peach tarts today, and it's so yummy. It's got the sharp, intense apple of the Macintosh scent, but the Peach lends it a deeper, subtler edge.

HAAAAAPPY!

Hi, I'm new to the comm - I'm a fan of Lush, Black Phoenix Alchemy Labs, and Yankee Candles. I have another company that I'm mad for, and would love to share them with you.

Primal Elements make a line of glycerin soaps, candles and other bath goodies that I have been using for five years now. My favorite scent suites from them are 'Flower Shop, 'Dragonfly,' and 'Tahitian Vanilla' in soap, candle, shower gel, bath salts, and lotion. I love too many of their soaps to name, and when the holidays roll around, I get a good many requests for 'that cool soap.'

Good thing I can buy it but the bar, or in five-pound loafs - it's also a good way to stock up on a favorite.

I hope you'll enjoy them as much as I do.

Is anyone here familiar with Beanpod Soy candles?

They are quite possible the yummiest-smelling candles I have ever smelled. I don't think I've disliked any of their scents (even their patchouli was nice, more spice than the BO I usually get). And they're SOY! They burn cleaner and longer, and they even have these tiny little pepples that you can mix up in a tart warmer like a tart, except that you can mix up the scents how you please.
