About:MAKE ART MAKE ART MAKE ART

A community of artmakers who seek to keep their creative gears oiled by following the whims of [info]snooks, [info]outlaw_jesus, [info]shigela, [info]sideshow_gypsy, and [info]skepticle, the idiots behind the curtain. We posts a new art project each Monday (or so), and if you want to, you can jump in and do it, then post your work here.

Rules and philosophy: Join. Create. Praise your fellow artists. Talent is not necessary, just effort and politeness. As you've undoubtedly read in 1,000 other communities, if you have nothing nice to say, you have nothing to say. So speak up with the positives, and shush with the negatives.

If you join the community, you have posting access. DO NOT post anything as a new post other than your Projects (non-art posts will be deleted as politely as possible, which means, if your post gets deleted imagine we did it politely, even if we REALLY just muttered "idiot!" as we were doing it). If you have anything else to say, put it in a comment, and try to stay ON TOPIC.

Spammers will be killed, blah blah blah, etcetera, you know the rest. We're here to make art, share art, and in our small ways make the world a better place, ONE PROJECT AT A TIME. So join up already, and get working!

If you post your images here, please try and provide hosting for them that's as close to permanent as you can manage; those little red "X" thingies suck to look at. We want to see your art for a long time! Also, if your images are large (say, over 600 pixels wide), think about putting them behind a cut. Some people's connections are slower than yours.

We try to stay on a WEEKLY schedule, with new Projects going up at the beginning of the week. They're officially due at the beginning of the next week, when the next project gets rolling. For most projects, you can be late if you want. You can post something four months late if you need to, we'll still think you're awesome. Just be sure to put the Project number you're posting in the subject (example: Project 003) and tag your entry in the same way so it aligns with everyone else's efforts, no matter when they were posted. That's what the tag cloud on the side of the page is for; click any of the project tags and go right to ALL the relevant posts for that project. See how that works? Technology is awesome.

That said, the whole reason for this community's existence is to provide a spark for your ongoing creativity, so being late isn't really the point. If you're a member, try to stay current. The more people participating, the more inspiration we provide to each other and ourselves, and the more successful the community will be in fulfilling its goals: to fill the world with art!

When is it NOT awesome to post late? If we're doing a community-based project, like Project 002, which was a deck of cards. Everybody had to be done at the same time, or there would have been no deck of cards, and that would have sucked. So for projects like that, where specific assignments are handed out that OTHER PEOPLE are relying on, you cannot be late. If you aren't sure that you can make the deadline, DON'T SIGN UP for that one. Do a different one, or come to [info]snooks' house and wash his car if you're desperate for something to do. He's cool with that. But don't leave swirls in the clear coat.

Fair enough?

Then let's go!
