Hey everyone, I just wanted to remind you that in five days story posting for the Secret Santa will be open. I hope you're all working on yours (like I am...) or - for the overachievers among you - are already done with it. I'm really curious to see what you've done for your recipients ;)

Thanks to koboldmaki every Secret Santa assignment has been dealt out and we can all start writing for our respective partners. Please everyone thank the Maki for standing in for me. She also had a good suggestion for the markenting for next year's Secret Santa: Free chocolate for participants! I think it's an excellent idea ;)

Anyway, I also installed a new banner and community icon yesterday (since Totensonntag, the last Sunday before the first Advent, marks the beginning of the Christmas Season in Germany and I'm an autocratic dictator ;)). Hope you like them :)

First of all: Happy Birthday, United States Marine Corps (even if you don't let me read your website which I totally don't understand but that's a thing for another posting... ahem)! OORAH, Marines! (oh damn, plot bunny... go away... GO AWAY! I have only 9 prompts left and I already used the USMC Hymn! Leave me alone! Shoo! Go pester someone else!)

And second: There are still a lot of open spots in the Secret Santa 2009 and I'd love to see a few more people signing up (and I think you do, too ;)). You still have until Sunday, November 15th to do so. If you need to revisit sign-up guidelines, have a look here. Really, the more the merrier and all that. And hey, don't we want to give my friend koboldmaki who agreed to do the sorting (since I shouldn't be doing it if I signed up as an author as well) some actual work? I know you want to ;) Give yourself a little push, come one!

Since mackenziesmomma somewhat losened my "No other challenges until you're done with Fanfic100!"-ban and allowed asked me to take part in the Secret Santa (because the deadline is after Dec 13th). So, yeah, here I go:

Things I'd like: romance, humor, LOTS of snark, explosions, drama, angst, mission fic, holiday fic (in this case: Christmas ;))

Things I wouldn't like: slash, character death (it's a Christmas exchange after all...), OOC characters

Things I can do: friendship, hurt/comfort and pretty much everything from the "things I'd like"-category

Thing I can't do: slash, smut (ask mac... I'm abysmal at real smut ;)), fluff (ONLY fluff, I mean... no fluff without at least a little bit of drama in my stories)

In the fic post, please post the name of the recipient but don't reveal it in any other postings or comments before this. sga_santa states a minimum length of 1,000 words per story but I think it's okay to make it a minium of 100 words for this community. Is everyone okay with that? Please remember that this is an exchange so don't sign-up if you don't think you'll be able to post your story in time.

As for Cadman/Lorne: The stories don't have to be romance, they can also be friendship, UST, pre-ship etc. It's only important that they contain both Evan Lorne and Laura Cadman as protagonists.

So asugar asked if I'd like to sign up for sga_santa but mackenziesmomma said no (with good reasons, granted ;)) and it's much too McShep/other slash heavy for me anyway... but it gave me the idea of proposing a Secret Santa fic exchange for this nice little cosy community here. So... would anyone be interested in it? And if there is... is there any particular approach you'd prefer or like to suggest?

BTW... I believe there are still stories from the Disney challenge wanting to be posted, aren't there? Just a gentle little reminder... (because I for my part... would love to read them :)).

Meh, I just remembered that October 10th is the last day for claiming prompts at sg_rarepairings. If anyone of you wants to claim one of the Cadman/Lorne (either gen or het) prompts for this year's ficathon and hasn't done it yet, please, please, please do so! We need more Cadman/Lorne stories and the prompts at sg_rarepairings are gold (for example vicki595's prompts... thanks for suggesting them vicki!). Come on, people!
