My BA Embroidery Final Project!!

I am asking for your help with my final project on my degree. It’s all about forming visual representations of collections and taking this through to design ideas after lots of drawing and investigating objects. I am trying to form an exciting and diverse collection by asking people from all over the world to send me objects in the post! It can be absolutely anything, the stranger the better! It does not have to relate to embroidery or textiles in any way.

The object(s) need to be:

· small, no bigger than 10cm square.

· old or used or with an exciting history

· inexpensive – I unfortunately can’t send you money in return!

Hi there,
My name is Sam. I help run a zine called SOURGRAPES ZINE. We're a local zine based in Lexington KY. We focus on teaching kids about D.I.Y. ethics, being posi, and why its important to support local art and music.
I wanted to write not only to introduce our zine to the livejournal zine world! But also to explain our predicament. You see, after a lot of pulling out hair and craziness we've decided to hire on a full-time zine team. We used to be submission based but it was pretty hard on our (then) small team.

Brief: Using the postal system, please send me a written drawing instruction which involves any media and any technique. Please send the instruction on a post card sized surface (6x4inch).

The drawing instruction can be as detailed or as vague as you wish. The instruction can contain an image on the post card (i.e an example of the instruction or background image), but must also include a written version of the instruction.

Examples of drawing instructions :

hey everyone. my name's margeaux and i'm a 25/f/bi/goth/pagan chick living on the coast of maine with my boyfriend of 8 years, our 6-year old daughter and a menagerie of exotic pets. i'm an artist/snake breeder/ghost hunter.

you can see a fairly long list of my interests on my profile page. i could list them all over again here, but that would be pretty redundant. (like they won't be listed again in my intro letter. lol)

i'd mostly like to hear from other bi, bi-curious, goth or pagan girls, preferably in the u.s. or canada, at the moment. it's a plus if you have kids, but i don't discriminate against the child-free.;-) i prefer pals that are into long letters and really getting to know their pals as friends. personally, i tend to write extremely long, rambling, letters and send lots of photos.

if it matters to you, i nearly always handwrite my letters, but some (including my intro usually) will be typed. i have some muscle/nerve/joint problems that affect my hands at times and make it impossible to use a pen, especially for 20+ pages, which is the norm for me.

i'm also looking for new fb and xxx fb swappers. i'm getting back into them after a long hiatus. i enjoy swapping them in bulk. i also swap slams. i'm taking a break from decos for now, but i also like to swap movies, music, books, clothes, pretty much anything mail-able.

Hi all,, i just joined this community and found you via the mailart LJ community.
I am just beginning with my first mail art project and maybe some of you would be interested....
i will take part any anybody else's mail art project to return the favour :o)

summary of the project: I LOVE MY CITY

We all have a personal identity with the city in which we live in or near too, weather its a favourite building, street or landmark, personal or unique experience, memory or event, or it's just that we have a love of where we grew up and each individual as their own social history with their home city.

To investigate this further I am calling for people to send me a personal visual representation of their home city in any medium through the post. This could include:

This is going to be cross posted to a few of the letter writing communities on LJ.

I am currently involved in an organisation that deserves MORE press than it's getting. It's called the Deployed Soldiers Network or DSN for short. Okay, so what's it about? Well, I'm not going to push my beliefs on you or anything of the sort but basically the definition is all in the name. This fine group of people support soldiers from all over the world who are stationed all over the world. That might mean that one of the soldiers is in Iraq or it might mean he's in Japan or even in Germany. These are the soldiers who have little to no family or at the very least who have no one sending them support.

So what does DSN do? Basically, it offers support through written letters, e-mails, and care packages. If you were to join you could only send letters to one soldier, or you can adopt a whole unit. A lot of soldiers write back and so it'd be a new way of penpaling for a lot of people.

My name is Holly, and I am very interested in having a pen pal. Excitement always comes when something arrives in my mail box. In this age of technology, time slips by and things that should take thought, consideration, and even patience are lost to us.

I love to write and get to know people; I like the idea and mystery of knowing someone hundreds or thousands of miles away that I haven’t even heard or seen. Though talking to someone that’s very similar to me might be comforting, I’d like to talk to someone who lives in a different situation.

I like to read but I don’t read as much as I want to due to college class and assignments and painting. Painting is my favorite hobby besides web design right now. I guess Angafacwen.com sums me up a bit; there are also pictures of me and my art…but I sorely need to add pictures to the latter.

I enjoy music but I don’t base any happiness on it. Silence is priceless. I can play the guitar but I learned bass guitar and flute formally. Randomly I enter into pageants for flute music, both writing and playing… though it’s been a year or two since I last entered anything at all.

I’m creepy, silly, happy, and hate lying. I’m a second year college student and have recently decided to do a double major in Russian language/culture and in clinical laboratory science. [Maybe the FBI will want me!]
