Putting Crime under the Magnifying Glass |
|
| Name: | Putting Crime under the Magnifying Glass | |
| About: | We’re putting crime under the magnifying glass. 1) Civil English. Be polite, respectful, argue your points without reverting to either netspeak or prolific cursing, and know how to use your language. This isn’t a place to pick on typos and fingerslips, but basic grammatical standards are a must. 2) Discussion. This isn’t a place for “fangirl squeeing” (or “fanboy squeeing” as the case may be); there are places that focus on that side of the shows, and we’re trying to achieve a different perspective. 3) Ships with Substance: feel free to bring up various potential or canon relationships, but defend them, and defend them well. Please don’t squeal over the “shippy” episode moments; use them to defend why the ship(s) you follow has merit. 5) Keep the content as g-rated as possible; the shows deal with complex material with which not everyone is comfortable, so please keep that in mind. No aspect of show content is excluded from debate, but if you’re venturing into more explicit material, put it behind a cut and include a warning. 6) Avoid massive spoilers—a lot of people don’t want to know what happens in a given episode, so let’s try to respect that. Put spoilers behind the cut. 7) Reread number 4. 8) No promotion or advertising without permission from the mods. If you have/know of a site, whether it's on LJ or not, that's devoted to a show we cover, we're more than happy to let you advertise, but we request that you give us the courtesy of checking in. Any advertising that hasn't been cleared by a mod will be deleted, and the only allowed advertising is the inadvertent: if another site has a point directly relating to yours and you wish to reference, please feel free. 9) Make substantial posts. Comments and responses do not have to be essays, but they should further a discussion, and "I concur" does not really achieve that. Explain yourself--even briefly. To the more loquacious members, this is your chance to be long-winded and be appreciated for it. 10) "Cite" your sources. This may be as simple as a link or a reference to a magasine or interview, but, as is common courtesy, don't take credit for what you didn't come up with. Copyright is a sticky issue these days--now more so than ever--and no one wants a lawsuit on their hands for a passing reference. 11) Have fun. Now that we’ve thoroughly overwhelmed you (we haven’t really, have we?), please check out this post for a little more detail on what we plan to do—writing, discussion, etc. Comment on that post and you’ll have complete posting privilege—until you do, we’re not granting posting.
