| About: | In the magical universe there are no coincidences and there are no accidents. Nothing happens unless someone wills it to happen. The dogma of science is that the will cannot possibly affect external forces, and I think that's just ridiculous. It's as bad as the church. My viewpoint is the exact contrary of the scientific viewpoint. I believe that if you run into somebody in the street it's for a reason. It is not a community in the typical LiveJournal sense. By its nature it should attract self aware, uncomfortably intelligent, and (often) weirdly socialized individuals; cooperation is not a high priority, neither is tact. This community is primarily a collaboration between philosophy and psychology. While it is acknowledged that religion and sexuality are strongly related to those two disciplines, this community is about neither sex nor god. Both subjects may appropriately appear in posts; however, it is prudent to mention the following up front: If you are searching for a community whose primary focus lies within the realms of either sex (LBGT, polyamory, bondage, various and assorted kink) or spirituality (Buddhism, Christianity, magic, dream interpretation, "self help," etc.), then look elsewhere. The primary focus of this community is existential, analytical, explanatory. It is not a support group for the mentally ill; although it is highly likely that its members are. The only difference between the insane man and the neurotic is that the neurotic knows he is ill. The neurotic is not necessarily weak willed. Remember that. This journal is an attempt to escape a mental chinese finger trap, for anyone who is afflicted by "this," a place to discuss the word virus and the thought disease. The name of this community is a Burroughs reference (see above); however, its scope is not confined to contemplation of its name. Of particular interest to this community is input from individuals who experience excessive amounts of R.E.M. sleep (example given by a band of the same name, "I don't sleep I dream") and/or "have no choice but to write their way out."
