Needed: Dressmaker! [Jul. 3rd, 2009|12:05 pm]

[music |VAST - You're Too Young]

Okay, so I have a project on the go for next year at Maelstrom and for it I'm going to need A Dress.

The dress... )

I am hoping that there's someone talented out there that will take my commission. Of course, I am willing to pay for materials and time and whatnot. I would prefer someone for whom this will not be a first time experiment but will consider all offers. Drop me a comment if you think you can help. I am also looking for someone to make me a black kimono but that's not the priority right now.

Maelart - Cross posted from Rule7 [Jun. 1st, 2009|09:11 am]

We all love Maelstrom artwork right? I know I do. And there are some fantastic artists at Maelstrom. Wouldn't it be nice if there were a place where people could post their game related artwork into a pool for comment, criticism and adulation? I think it would.

If you have any Maelstrom art that you've done, why not visit this shiny new Flickr site I've created and get posting?

When you pack food to take on site, what sort of food do you bring?

Booze is of course an essential (actually, that could just be me), but what kind of snacks and soft drinks do you keep in your tent?

Of course, the same principle applies to anything that relies on volunteers, not just football.

I've posted this on other journal's before, but not Maelfroth.

Dryad Hair [May. 13th, 2009|09:28 pm]

[music |Flogging Molly - The Worst Day Since Yesterday]

[X-Posted from my journal]

Supplies:
- 3 packs of varying brown wool dreads from Dreadz On Headz
- Brown head scarf
- 2 bunches of fake ivy (eBay is good for this)
- 1 pair of brown tights (though I only had black to hand)

Method:
- Spilt dreads into two lots of equal amounts.
- Cut the legs off the tights and tie around a large book/board/table (basically something to keep it stretched).
- Take each dread and fold in half, stick the top loop under the stretched tights and then pull the loose ends through the loop, pull tight.
- Do this for half the dreads then repeat again with the other leg of the tights. Now you should have two sets of tie-in extensions.
- Pull clusters of leaves off the fake ivy and tie into the wool at intervals until you have as much foliage as you want.
- Tie your hair into two high pigtails and use the tights material of the extensions to tie them around your pigtails (of course, if you have short hair this entire process is pointless!).
- Cover up any visible hair with the head scarf.
- Done!

And the result is... )

Leicester Pub Meet this Wednesday [May. 10th, 2009|06:44 am]

idleknight
The Leicester pub meet is this Wednesday at Chaplins Bar in Leicester, the details have been posted previously, but if anyone wants to know more send me a message. It's starting at 7 and going on till midnight.

If you are working in Leicester or are getting there early, we are doing an informal pre pub meet, meet in firebug. Firebug is just down the road from chaplins bar and does nice food. This will give anyone who works in Leicester or gets there early somewhere to go.

Finally if anyone from Coventry needs a lift, let me know

Chain mail links [May. 2nd, 2009|08:27 pm]

cassies_file

Hello all,

I was wondering if you could give me some advice with regards to chain mail links and where to buy them from.

I've looked at the Ringlord and heard that many of my friends buy from him, but I've found a site called Armchair Armoury which is UK based and lower prices. I was wondering if anyone has used either of them before and has a preference? or possibly suggestions for other places to buy from?

I've booked chaplins which is a private venue in the centre of Leicester. It's between event 1 and 2, so it's a good chance for players to froth about the last event and the next one.

There is also a facebook event for it

It's from 7ish till Midnight

Here's the website for chaplins which includes directions

Oh man what a joker Matt P is, convincing us that Site A was just a couple of featureless fields, while all this time the PD staff have been working overtime to put in such awesome landscaping.

Did anyone else find the "Lost Flembic Mine"? I thought I was a goner when the collapsing pit-prop effect was triggered. And can anyone else confirm whether the Dryads in the wood were part of the monster crew or very convincing animatronics.

I'm so looking forward to next year, I here the planning permission for the Ziggurat has been granted.

Lulu and Omar [Apr. 7th, 2009|12:03 am]

Hello,

As those of you who have been paying attention know, I wrote a book. I self-published it the hard way and sold copies.

http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/malikara-nights/6695470

Perfect bound, in full colour, it's an A5 size book. I think it's quite good. The price seems a bit silly to me, but then people do buy comics which also seems a bit crazy.

Edit: you can also peek inside it to have a look at which events it covers and to see the first page which is a rather clever little feature I hadn't noticed.

Okay, before you finish packing for next weekend's fun filled, action packed Maelstrom, please do not forget:

Pack some Suntan Lotion (and use it).
Pack some bottles of water or a canteen (and use it)
Pack warm clothes, and a some changes of socks.
Pack some waterproofs.
Don't forget your medication, (if you have some) for goodness sake. (This goes double for asthma inhalers.)

Everyone have a fantastic weekend, and I'll see you at the bar on Thursday.
