Diet / Food Calculator
I really don't know if what I want is even out there... but I'd like some type of a website where maybe I could make an account (to save my data) and put in what I eat for each meal. And maybe have some type of calculator where it tells me how many calories, fat, sugar, salt, etc was in a serving of whatever I ate. Then total my % of daily value and tell me how I did for the day.

Or just suggest something you use that helps you understand what you're consuming? I don't have a clue how to read the nutrition labels on stuff. I think I'm doing good, but then people look at what I eat and just say OMG WHY ARE YOU EATING THAT IF YOU'RE TRYING TO BE HEALTHY?????

I'm at a loss. I joined a really expensive gym package with classes and a "nutritionist" (yes, i put it in quotes for sarcasm) and I ended up gaining weight. They told me it was because muscle was going to weigh more than fat, but I got bigger in my belly after the whole ordeal. I gave up on the gym. I think I need to focus on what I'm eating cause I'm a skinny girl with a gut.

http://sparkpeople.com/

That tracks what you're eating and has most food listed but if it doesn't then you can add it yourself and it saves the info.

I've heard amazing things about this site and came here to recommend it, although I don't have personal experience with it.

I have to say the thing that has helped me the most were their daily motivational/informational emails. It's like a reminder every morning that I'm doing this for real and that I need to keep going, at least for today.

Do it. I don't think you'll regret it.

Only 25 more to go for me :\

I'm no expert but when I look at labels I'm only concerned about 4 things: Calories, Fat, Sugar, and how high High Fructose Corn Syrup is on the ingredients list. That generally works for me. I try to stay away from packaged foods if I can, snack on fruits (within moderation because of high sugar content) and veggies. I'm busy so I don't always have time to cook, but I generally get those Lean Cuisines. Some of them, especially the Spa meals are actually pretty healthy, with lots of veggies.

I've lost about 10-7 pounds since summer started. Along with that, when I have time I go to the gym and run (or swim). Yes, I know, running sucks, but it's a good way to kickstart your metabolism and burn lots of calories as well as work most all muscle groups. So I do that and ride my bike to school when it's not raining.

Yeah, but just don't eat lots of sodium from other foods? Each Lean Cuisine generally contains 33% of your recommended daily sodium so just balance yourself.

I recommend them. I've been eating Lean Cuisines for about 3 years now (crazy, I know, just most foods don't ~agree with me), and I am really fit and really skinny. Works great and they are filling and give you energy imo.

That sodium info makes me feel better. I don't add salt to anything, and don't eat chips and what-not. I've been taking these in my lunch. I think they taste better than other brands (that aren't meant to be healthier food)

Also, high sugar fruits are low in calories and high in nutrition. They only need to be avoided if you are starting a low carb diet. The sugars in fruits are FRUCTOSE whereas refined sugar (bad bad bad!) is sucrose...

myfitnesspal.com is great for this, i used it and you enter in the chart what food you've eaten during the day and calculates all the nutritional data you need to know. I found it really helped me and with running everyday and using this site I've lost 35lbs so far. Also you can't spot reduce, meaning you can't just lose weight from your belly, i'd combine some cardio with sit ups to get rid of a tummy :)

http://exrx.net/Nutrition.html a whooole bunch of stuff.
Sometimes the food pyramid site is useful, they have a lot of interactive stuff.
Are you in college? If so, maybe try taking a general intro nutrition class, I took one (for my major, nutrition haha.) and they tell you how to calculate your calories, daily intake needed for most micro/macronutrients, bad fats vs fats you need, how to read food labels and figure out how to read around deceiving parts on the nutrition facts etc etc. Its worth it imo!

http://exrx.net/WeightExercises/RectusAbdominis/WtHangingLegHipRaise.html
That exercise there is also reallly good for working your abs, if you don't have the upper body strength to hold yourself by your arms, some gyms have arm slings so you can just hang out it the sling and then do it.

http://exrx.net/Lists/ExList/WaistWt.html#anchor172895
Waist exercise menu. *like the above commenter said, you can't spot reduce however.

Also another little tip, once you use all the sites posted by everyone to find out how many calories you need a day AND how many you need to lose weight, when you look at any nutrition facts label on food its based on a 2000 calorie diet. I hope that makes sense =]

one last link! Sorry for being so long!
