Time for a change - advice sought!
Hello all from little ole New Zealand - and other Kiwis in here?

Anyway, like much of the posts I've looked back through, I've got a general, 'Help, what the heck do I do with it?' sort of post. :)

I've only in the last year or so actually started doing anything different with my hair; prior to that it was just cut to shoulder length and tied back in a ponytail for the most part. A combination of being very tomboyish and thus not interested in my hair and having really difficult hair has meant that I've never really experimented and my general knowledge is sadly really lacking.

For about the past year I've had dreadlocks done calico; my natural colour is reddish-auburn and was left in for about a third, about a third was bleached, about a third was dyed black. However, simply put I'm tired of the dreadlocks and want something new. So in two weeks I'm going to be sheering off the dreadlocks. My original plan was to go for a sort of camouflage 'hawk effect - have the sides and back done short (between 2mm-2cm depending what looks okay) and the middle done wide enough that it can be worn down on either side to look like a bob-cut. However, I'm starting to get cold feet about this, and I'm unsure whether it's likely to look good and thinking maybe I should try something else, but I'm left thinking, well, WHAT?

Two main things; I work in a corporate environment, so my hair needs to be able to look decently tidy and respectable without too much hassle. However, I want something that can be made more funky/out-of-the-ordinary in my spare time as well, so I don't want an actual all-round neat and tidy haircut.

The other thing is it needs to be reasonably easy to care for. I don't mind spending a bit of time but I don't want an extra half hour to every morning spent trying to get it presentable. This is made harder by the fact that my hair on top has a very strong wave in it (I'm planning to get it straightened for the 'hawk) but on the sides and back is straight.

Here's a pic of me rocking the junkie-chic cancer patient look, as of course I need something that suits me as well! I can't help thinking I'll just look dorky trying to pull off a mohawk, but I dunno. I also suspect there's a whole lot of styles out there I could do that I'm just not aware of.

Any advice/suggestions/input (links to good sites to look at different sorts of hairstyles would be awesome too!) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Do you mean the pseudo-bob-cum-mohawk or just a regular bobcut? Don't want the latter as yeah, it looks professional, but is also boring and I can't do much else with it.

Mohawks don't clean up well a lot of the time haha I used to have a really long one and pin back the sides for work, but it got old fast.

Solution: WIG!

Either that or go for a bob. Bobs can be made funky
