F-Tama, the official fan club for the Macross Frontier science-fiction anime, has announced to its members on Saturday that it is holding two "Macross Crossover Live A.D. 2009x45x49" concerts at the Makuhari Messe convention complex near Tokyo on October 17 and October 18. The "galaxy's biggest crossover" will feature Mari Iijima (Lynn Minmay in The Super Dimension Fortress Macross), Yoshiki Fukuyama (the singing voice of Macross 7's Basara Nekki), Chie Kajiura (the singing voice of Macross 7's Mylene Jenius), May'n (the singing voice of Macross Frontier's Sheryl Nome), and Megumi Nakajima (Macross Frontier's Ranka Lee). This is the second event to mark the "first year of Macross" after the Macross "space launching ceremony" in February. (The first episode of the first Macross series aired in 1982, but its story was set in February of 2009.) The first Macross Frontier film will open in Japan on November 21.

Tickets are already available to people who join the F-Tama club between Saturday and July 25. People who joined the club before can purchase tickets between July 13 and July 29. The organizers plan to offer the remaining tickets to the general public on August 22, initially through the FamilyMart convenience store chain's ticketing system.

The last time that this many singers from this many Macross series held a concert together was in 2007's "Macross 25th Anniversary Live: Minmay meets Fire Bomber" concert. During that concert, Iijima, Fukuyama, Kajiura, Nakajima, and Nobutoshi Hayashi (Basara's speaking and occasional singing voice) performed. (Since Nakajima had just been selected in a nationwide audition and Macross Frontier was months away from its television premiere, Nakajima had sung the "Voices" song from Macross Plus.) The last time that more Macross performers were on stage together was in "Macross One-Night Stand," the 15th Anniversary Live concert in 1997. That concert featured Iijima, Fukuyama, Hiroko Kasahara (Ishtar in Macross II), Akino Arai (one of the singing voices for Myung Fang Lone and Sharon Apple in Macross Plus), and Yoko Kanno (composer and pianist in Macross Plus).

Kanno held a Seatbelts concert this month that featured songs from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Macross Frontier, Arjuna、RahXephon, Macross Plus, Wolf's Rain, Cowboy Bebop, The Vision of Escaflowne, Aquarion, Card Captor Sakura, and other titles.

Hello i 'm new, and i didn't see this topic yet. But the new figurines of Macross frontier are gorgeous and avaible on ebay... a little priceless ...




In japan you can win them in lottery, japaneses go  to convienance store , they buy a 800Yen tickets, ( around 6 euros ) so must be less than 5 dollars, and if luck is there ,they can win the gorgeous figurines.

i asked my japanese friiend, to buy 4 tickets and i got  the alto hime towel,  2 chibi mecha  that are alto and klan one and the last one was lucky to win sheryl! i was so happy.

The chibi are so cute too. They were on Ebay too.

Most of us already know this but the track listing and summary for Drama 1.

1) Alto Meets Sky
Alto was graduating Jr. High, and playing Juliet in the graduation play "Romeo and Juliet." He had a doubt about continuing acting, and one day, he met Nanase. Right then, an EX gear flew nearby and destroyed Nanase's drawing. Being angry, Alto went to Piloting department, and confront the leader, Michel.

2) Doukutsu no Triangular (The Triangular in a Cave)
While Ranka was shooting "Tori no Hito," Alto and Sheryl visited her. Sheryl wanted to go a cave adventure in a mystic Mayan Island. Alto and Ranka were reluctant, but Sheryl dragged them with her. It's completely dark in the cave, and what's about that Mayan legend?

3) Sheryl no Doki Doki Hatsu Taiken (Sheryl's Exciting First Experience)
Sheryl will play a pilot in a MBS drama. Alto dismissed her saying he was certain she will use a stand-in for flying. Sheryl got mad and declared that she would do it herself. She couldn't take her word back, so she went to Michel for help. Clan was upset about Michel's near sexual harrassment to Sheryl. Would she be able to pilot Valkyrie?

Hey, look what I found while browsing at my favourite doujin artist's site! I forgot what these little figures are called but they're just about the cutest I've ever seen, though why is Sheryl's hair pink, I have no idea. I thought it was Lacus Clyne at first. There are even Michel, Klan, Brera and Ranka's little frog, and a geisha!Alto.


Amazon JP and FC2 have the set. One is more expensive than the other. Unfortunately, Amazon JP doesn't ship outside of Japan so we'll probably have to wait for some other place to have them. I don't know if FC2 ships outside of Japan since I can't read Japanese and this dumb computer doesn't display any Japanese text. *kicks* I'm hoping YesAsia will carry them soon.

The planned Fall opening date for a theatrical film remake of the Macross Frontier anime series was announced via an itasha (vehicle decorated with character art) mini-van outside the "Macross: The Super Dimension Space Launching Ceremony" event on Sunday. However, creator Shoji Kawamori and the cast members Yuuichi Nakamura (Alto), Aya Endo (Sheryl), and Megumi Nakajima (Ranka) noted in the actual event that the new date and even the title of the project is subject to change. During the event, the voice cast performed a live audio recording for a promotional video of the theatrical film project. The promotional video included brief new footage of the arena for Sheryl's concert in the story and Nakajima's new song, "Sou Da Yo."

The "Macross: The Super Dimension Space Launching Ceremony ~It's Really 2009 Already…It's 2/22 (Nyan Nyan Nyan), Deculture!~" event marked the precise month when the events of the very first episode of the first Macross science-fiction romance series supposedly takes place. The event was split into a two-part "talk show" with guests from several Macross projects, and the actual "ceremony" itself. During the first talk show segment, Valkyrie mecha designer and story co-creator Shoji Kawamori, character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto, and mechanical designer and Studio Nue co-founder Kazutaka Miyatake discussed how they met at school and Studio Nue. They also reminisced on how Macross came together and how Macross has grown in the 27 years since its first airing. The second talk show segment had the live audio recording for the Macross Frontier film's promotional video and a discussion of what the cast wanted to ask "kantoku-san" (the director) to do with their characters.

During the ceremony itself, brief new footage of a computer-animated Macross spaceship was shown during its launch day. The story's fictional ceremony was recreated with new and old dialogue by actors Michio Hazama (Captain Bruno J. Global) and Katsumi Suzuki (pilot Hayao Kakizaki). (Sho Hayami, the voice of the pilot Maximilian Jenius, was unable to attend due to flu.) The event ended with a song by Nobutoshi Hayashi (Basara Nekki) and a mini live concert with Nakajima. Dressed as the singer character Lynn Minmay from the first Macross series and film, Nakajima sang covers of Macross songs such as "Watashi no Kare wa Pilot" ("My Boyfriend's a Pilot"), "Tenshi no Enogu" ("An Angel's Paints"), and "Ai, Oboeteimasuka" ("Do You Remember Love?").

Just something on the sales of the Blu-Ray discs.

The Oricon survey firm has announced on Tuesday that the third volume of the Macross Frontier television anime series ranked at #1 on its latest weekly Blu-ray Disc chart for Japan.

That makes Macross Frontier the first series from any genre to rank #1 on the Blu-ray Disc chart three times in a row. Volume 3 also sold 14,828 DVDs in its first week of sales this month. The story of Macross Frontier takes place 50 years after the first Macross robot anime television series and revolves around a rookie fighter pilot, the galaxy's latest pop idol, and an aspiring singer. The Japanese anime distributor Bandai Visual announced in July that it shipped 45,000 Blu-ray Discs and 55,000 DVDs for the first volume of the 22,000 Blu-ray Discs and 18,000 DVDs in its first week of sales, and the second volume sold 15,488 DVDs in its first week. Oricon that the Macross Frontier CDs have been record bestsellers as well.


Looks like Frontier is still going on strong.

I've been waiting forever for Macross F figures! I didn't think they'll ever be out. Not sure about the quality of the figures, though, unless someone can take a closer pic of them or do a review of them. First set is available in December and priced at 400 yen each while the second set will only be available in January 2009 and at 483 yen each, I think. More details on the prices of the figures and the VFs are available here along with their release dates.
