mac sale

so i'm looking to sell off my pretty ancient 17" imac 1GHz PowerPC G4. I've got all these old versions of adobe software on it, which are still totally usable (i still totally use them), BUT the computer runs damn slow (for somewhat unknown reasons). If i wipe the drive i'm sure it'll improve performance however all these programs will be lost.

So should i try to sell the computer as is? or wipe the drive and sell it that way?
[edit: by which i mean, which way would be more profitable for me?]

ipod touch issue...

I am having issues with my ipod touch that I just bought.

I like to play games on iwon.com. so as soon as I had the wifi set up, I clicked on safari and went there...

but the thing is... It doesn't WORK!

None of the avatars or the games come up!

I checked the settings, java is set to work, but I'm getting nothing.

Am I doing something wrong? I'm very green to the ipod touch, so any assistance would be appreciated.

Oy... this sucks. :(

WTF

Ok, so I'm trying to delete some files off of an external hard drive, and every time I try to delete them, I get this message:

"The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."

What does that mean, and what can I do about it?

The files in question are two folders, containing albums. I deleted a bunch of music off of this hard drive before, but these folders would not delete - and I was presented with roughly the same message at the time. However, I was able to click "OK", and the other files I wanted to delete were deleted successfully. Now, when I click "Continue" when the message above pops up, it just quits deleting, and closes the Trash window.

It if helps - when my external drive is connected, the two folders show up in my Trash, but when the drive is disconnected, the folders aren't there, and I'm able to delete normally.

My Trash is set to "Empty Securely", which I remember selecting when I was fucking around with some settings. Would re-setting it to delete normally fix the problem? And if so, how the hell do I set it back? I forgot what I did to change it.

Thanks so much!

X-Posted.

Yesterday something happened to the monitor on my ibook. Everything that should be black is now a bloody red, and on top of that there is a pink haze floating around everywhere. It's like Terminator-vision. I see everyting. I was thinking safe mode, but naturally i tried rebooting and that didn't work. Just tried recalibrating the colors to no avail. Am i going to have to send my computer to Apple?

HEEELP MEEE

Hacked IPhone Users

Did you run into any problems when doing so or did it all go smooth? Ive had friends that after unlocking it had problems with other applications like youtube.

A few days ago I "pwned" my iphone just for the hell of it to see what it was like and it was pretty great except that I ran into some problems with using Safari. Anyways the problem was too annoying so I just restored and its all back too normal.

do i try it again or just wait for 2.0?

share your experiences, please

Grrrrr >:|

I run 10.5.2 on my MacBook. When I first open Applications after booting up, the system will sit there and poll the file sizes for each application. It makes scrolling through the list difficult. I have to wait until it is done before I can scroll without any lag.

Is anyone else that uses Leopard having this happen?

EDIT:: Hah! I found it. I have "Calculate File Sizes" turned on in my Show View Options for that folder. ^_^

boot camp and XP service pack 3

so i don't know if anyone here runs boot camp with microsoft XP but if you do and haven't been able to upgrade to service pack 3, here is the solution:

1. Go to run and type "regedit", and then click OK
2. go to this subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
3. go to the edit menu, click on new, and click "String Value"
4. name the new sting value "BootDir" and hit ENTER
5. when "BootDir" is highlighted go to edit and click modify
6. type the drive letter for your system drive then click OK (For example, if your system drive is "C:", type in "C:\")
7. Close Registry Editor.

then just do your windows update as normal. this works or you can order the CD and it should work too.

My friend just let me borrow his Leopard install disc (a family pack, so it really shouldn't be a problem) and I upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. That went seemingly well, but now I can't connect to the internet and a lot of my applications crash or don't even start up. I'm able to log in and everything, but not much else works. I've tried running Network Assitant or whatever to connect to the ethernet, but it just freezes up while searching for a connection.

Anyone know what's wrong and how to fix this? I don't want to have to do a clean install.
