Im new to LJ, and the very first thing i did was look for a communty of writers.

I have one posted on some ghettoass site, but its readable. and its my work.
Please read it and give me input.
The site separated it into two, but just follow the link.

The story is one of  many of mine, i actually finished this one. Not that im happy with it at all.
It follows a teenage girl through England when World War III breaks out.
Enjoy.

Hey there, just starting out and working on an extended project. I write fantasy, with a realistic edge to it.

The premise:

The diary of a trainee, or side-kick as he learns what it means to be under the shadow of a hero and where his place in the world is. Marty is a recently graduated soldier training under an Ordinator, named Gracon, who is a decorated warrior.

6:32 am - Hello Friends
wordsnimages Words and Images, a literary journal published in Portland, Maine, since 1969, is looking for fiction submissions for the Spring, 2008, issue. No tired writing, please; the stories must be excellent and alive. We're looking for literary fiction strong on plot and character. We're also looking for quietly experimental work - for fiction which pushes the boundaries of genre and form, but never at the expense of character or emotion. Which means we're looking for something a little more Jonathan Safran Foer than David Foster Wallace (though DFW is wonderful, too). More information is online at wordsnimages.org. Deadline for submissions is December 31, 2007. Don't feel daunted for lack of previous publications; we shine flashlights under rocks in search of new voices. Check us out. Onward!

Hey. Name's Jerry. I'm a recovering bleeding-heart goth kid who's finally decided to get all his emo-tastic issues in order (bipolar, stepdad who smacked me around as a kid, whining melodramatically over girls) by participating in NaNoWriMo and blathering out what should hopefully be a rather interesting snippit of the life story of an ex-cokehead kickboxer kid with an overactive imagination and a sadistic gang of friends.

I don't sign on often, but I comment plenty when I do. I'm a rat-ass bastard, but I'm not too dumb. I'm 24, which makes me a dirty old man in the lj world. I don't always capitalize this thoroughly. I am wicked into: martial arts of all sorts, video games, vegan food, playing guitar, my cat, and being chivalrous to / abusive of women.

Comment for reciprocal adding, it might be fun.

Hi!

We're Darcy and Kirsty, and we've just published a book, Them and Us:

"Well-written and beautifully executed, the first novel by new authors Darcy Lee and Kirsty Park is sure to delight readers of all ages. Easy to relate to, the trials and tribulations of the main characters of the four friends will make this a book you pick up and don't want to put down."

Vicky, Sam, Amy and Katie are four teenage girls, floundering to keep up as they make their way through their teenage years. Struggles with family, friends, school politics, sex, music, german and hair dye try the girls as they mature and grow on their journey to adulthood. Them and Us is a story of four girls as they come of age and come to terms with their individual personalities, their sexuality, and each other.

10:06 pm - word count 109 Strange creature

agilitygirl

Black and orange splattered on the clean blue rug.  Upside down purring ball of fur proves to be the cat.  Indoor, outdoor, named for function one time barn cat, but she seems more than that.  Mamaki is what most cats are not.  She enjoys the company of people.  Me, oddly enough, more than the rest.  When I am home she follows me about.  Sleeping while I type essays on the computer, resting on the hamper while I bathe, curled under the blankets with me at night.  This cat is not the ordinary cat.  If I were in the middleages I’d be burned as a witch, and she my familiar.

Hi everyone.
I'm Lysandra, and I'm glad to have joined this community.
I just recently started reading some Kurt Vonnegut JR. stories, and I find myself falling madly in love with him, hah.

I would be flattered if you would add my myspace, click, please.
I have been intrigued with the more old fashioned literature, such as J.D. Salinger, and I was looking for more suggestions of excellent reads.

So, I'm a fiction writer turned student reporter who is looking to revive my fiction voice. This lj community caught my attention with the four word challenge (flamingo, torpedo, lasagna, cranium) in 100 words. Here's what I came up with (untitled):

Screeeet. My nails lacerate his bronze-polished flamingo. He wouldn’t get a pink one; instead, he bought a metal one so tough it could torpedo a riot-proof building. My nails are bleeding.

Sploosh. Wet pasta lambastes the floor. I repainted the kitchen “spaghetti sauce red.” One more meal of his lasagna and I’ll need my stomach pumped for toxins.

Scruunch. The sound his cranium would make if I pestle it to dust as I’d like to. He earned worse treatment after running over my sister’s cat, but my arrest warrant for the last guy caught up with the local police station.

Feedback is welcome (and appreciated)!

I just read this crazy-ass story about this kid who got trapped inside the body of his dead cat! It was the coolest thing I've read in a while, and I'm sure you guys would wanna check it out! It kinda reminded me of Neil Gaiman's style. Click the picture (above) to go to the website for it, or, you can:

12:34 pm - Everything Is an Afterthought

chidder
I recently sold my first book. In conjunction, I've established another LiveJournal to report on the project's progress, occasionally provide links about, and writings by, its subject, Paul Nelson (famous for signing the New York Dolls to their first record label, as well as his Rolling Stone reviews of Bob Dylan, Ian Hunter and Mott the Hoople, Jackson Browne, the Sex Pistols, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, and the Ramones -- to say nothing of his cover story about Warren Zevon's battle with alcoholism), and share snippets of information or parts of interviews that may or may not be covered further in the final product.

The new journal shares the book's working title, Everything Is an Afterthought: The Life and Writings of Paul Nelson. Just follow the link.

Anybody interested in learning more about this brilliant critic, whose own life proved just as mysterious and fascinating as the artists' about whom he wrote, is welcome to join. As well, tracking the process of how a book goes from sale to publication should prove interesting. I'm rather curious about that part myself...

It is so very lovely when you have friends that know your references and have a similar sense of humor as you.  The following story began when a friend and I were wandering his campus.  I asked what building was that over there, and he had no idea.  I spotted a sign that said directory clearly upon it.  Thinking that a directory might tell me where I was, I headed over, just to find that the thing was blank.  It told me nothing about the campus, and even less about where I was.
