The LUSH store in Friendswood (just outside of Houston) opened two weeks ago. I had no idea it existed until someone in this community mentioned it. I'd never been in a LUSH brick and mortar before, so I dragged a very sweet, indulgent friend of mine there.
I had a great time. I loved seeing the giant wheels o' soap. The SAs were very much like brand new SAs (or maybe it's just a LUSH thing) in that they were all over me, but they stopped *just* short of being irritating.
I ended up with Sweet Japanese Girl, Herbalism, Porridge soap, Mask of Magnaminty, Tea Tree Toner, Dreamwash, Love Lettuce, and a sample of Angels on Bare Skin. The Porridge soap I bought solely based on its scnet, it's so molasses-y edible. I really wanted Cupcake, but they told me it sold out within five hours of the store's opening. They're supposed to call me when they get it in again. One small disappointment is that they don't have ANY of the Retro stuff and said they don't think they'll be getting any in. I got a free Sex In the Shower for spending... too much.
Last night I used Love Lettuce on my face. It felt great. The entire experience, from start to finish, was really good. The mask was calming, soothing, and felt deeply cleansing at the same time. After that I did Mask of Magnaminty on my back and shoulders. I ride a scooter as my only transportation and I won't get on it without full gear: helmet, boots, gloves, and armored jacket. The upside is that I'm not dead. The downside is that the jacket, while not sweltering hot, does make me sweat in the Houston heat. Sweaty back leads to breakouts. MoM felt so good and I can see a difference already. Before I went to bed I washed my face with Herbalism, which I also like a lot. It's good and scrubby without demolishing my skin.
This morning I used SJG (dry, then hot, wet washcloth) and ended it with the Tea Tree Toner. My pores look great. I moisturized with Philosophy's Hope in a Bottle, because my skin responds very well to the salicylic acid in it.
I have problem skin in general-- supremely oily, very acne prone, blackheads and congested, large pores in general, and some sensitivity (though that seems to be lessening). I'm in my early 30s, way too old for acne! I was using a combination of Mychelle and Philosophy facecare products, followed by Lumiere mineral makeup and my acne improved by 80%. However, Mychelle just reformulated all their stuff to the point where I no longer like most of their products. I think I'll stick with the Philosophy moisturizer, but I'm very happy with the LUSH things I've used.
The Friendswood store is having its Grand Opening on the 30th and I'd love to go. Are there any Houstonians who'd mind ridesharing if I chipped in for gas? I could go on my scooter, but it's a long, long haul that way.
So I had really great results with all of Lush's face things in clearing up my acne. I started with Face Farmacy and Mask of Magnaminty. Great results, but not exactly perfect. No problem, went to a store and they said to use Herbalism along with Face Farmacy, Tea Tree Toner, and Enzymion. Great, my skin is looking amazing.
Then last month I went to another store and got the Cupcake face mask. I used it every other day because I got two containers and didn't want to waste it.
Now I knew it was going to break me out, I excpected it. But is there any like, delayed reaction? Because since I've used it my skin has been pretty ridiculously broken out. And it is getting really, REALLY annoying. This is two weeks later by the way. Last day it was good was July 28th.
Do you think it could be the Cupcake still? Or should I be changing my face routine? I use SJG too for the blackheads on my nose and that works fine...
I have a chunk of Coalface that I could be using too and just...yes. I'm at my wits end here. Keep in mind with the suggestions though, these stores I went too were very far away and a trip to the store is not happening again. So no new biofresh masks.
EDIT: I've followed some advice and as of right now, I've cut out the herbalism. If it keeps up, I'm going to guess it's the moisturizer. Thanks everyone :]
Okay, I'm looking for a skincare routine!!! Having taken a different contraceptive pill for the last 3 months my skin has cleared a little. I do still have spots but about half the amount. My skin is still oily and it has a noticeable blotchy/red/sore look to it. I think in part this is due to some scarring.
So my questions go to what I can go to control the oil, help minimize the rest of my spots and reduce redness. An important point is that anything harsh often dries my skin, so I need the products not to be too... intense.. if that makes sense.
I'm looking for anybodys ideas on a skincare routine... as at the moment I have been leaving my skin (to see the effects of my pill on it's own). So suggestions... cleanser, toner, moisturiser, exfoliator. Just some ideas for a routine .. whats worked for you. I see many of the Lush products tackles spots etc.. but there is so much choice I am unsure what to use. Thanks in advance my lovelies! x
I've got a holy mother of crap zit coming. The monster is on the bridge of my nose, towards the nostril. I suspect it is from my sunglasses, or even my regular glasses causing some sort of blockage. It's already starting to pop up but its not insanely noticeable yet. I have a rather large arsenal at my disposal that I can use. What do you guys think will work best?
- Cupcake biofresh mask
- Face Farmacy
- Herbalism
- Coal Face
- Mask of Magnaminty
- Sweet Japanese Girl
Suggestions? The sooner the better, ha.
Hi there. :) I'm new to this community. I have only recently discovered the joys of Lush. I love using Coal Face and Fresh Farmacy for my face because I've always had pimples. Until now! These two products are a miracle! However my two issues at the moment are:
1. I still have tons of blackheads. I've been reading through the tags and from what I can see Sweet Japanese Girl would be best for me. Correct?
2. My boyfriend has issues with pimples on his body rather than on his face - not tons of them, just some on his back and legs and often on his neck. What would you recommend he wash his body with?
Apologies if I grossed everyone out with pimple talk. ;) Thanks in advance for any advice!
Edit: Just a quick note, I'm vegan so I can only use Lush's vegan products. My boyfriend isn't vegan. :)
After years of not doing much about it I finally caved and went to the Drs for my acne. I'm almost through my couse of treatment.
Its much better now, and I'm left with just some light scarring. Before I started taking the tablets I used Fresh Farmacy on my face. I liked the exfoliation it gave, but it did tend to dry my skin, so as the tablets I take also dry my skin I stopped using it, and swiched to a very gentle oatmeal soap.
Now I'm out of that I want to go back to Lush and get something for my face. I prefer a solid cleanser if at all possible, something I wash off as the water helps me wake up! I also still hae some blackheads and patches that need exfoliating, so something that would help with that would seem to be in order. Oh, and I also have sensitive skin.
Suggestions?
It seems this topic has been coming up a lot in the last few weeks. I just thought that I'd share my routine, which is the most amazing things I've used.
( Cut so no one has to read if they don't want to )
I'm unfortunate enough to have been blessed with bacne and oily skin (har har). Is it ok to use Bath Bombs and Bubble Bars if I'm prone to bacne? Will they aggravate it, cause more, etc.?
Also, is it ok to use Aqua Marina on oily/prone to clogged pores and acne skin? I've heard that it actually helps a lot of people with those problems, yet it's marketed towards people with dryer skins...
I'm also looking at SJG for my blackheads. I'm actually really nervous to use her because of the oil and butter content. Will it she make me break out while clearing out my pores? Or is there a special way to use her to steer clear of the breakout issue?
Thanks.
What products have community members had success with when using them in conjunction with Retin-A?
My significant other has blotchy, red, acne-prone skin and i want to surprise him with a LUSH cleanser to see if it'll help him out (right now he just uses drug store brand cleansers). I was thinking Fresh Farmacy, but having never used it myself, I am not sure. Any rec's? Thanks!
