Hi all,
For starters, I am curious about The Blonde solid shampoo! I think it is discontinued in America but we still have it here in Australia. I know it has lemon juice in it for the blondeness, but is this drying for the hair? I heard that rumour somewhere... I got it to keep my blonde well...blonde! But is it bad for my hair and drying it out?
My hair: Blonde streaks on top (which can go brassy!), and lots of fine, curly waves! It is quite dry, especially on the blonde bits.
The products I have: Blonde, Curly Wurly and American Cream, along with a sample of Marilyn.
I am not sure what is best for me. I had a sample of Coolaulin and adored the smell, but don't know if I used enough of it. It seemed to do very little (but I was coming straight off 'cones...). I went to a different Lush store and the SA recommended that I get American Cream... but I am not sure whether I like that any better! I want to accentuate my curls and add moisture, but it is still drying all frizzy.
So I am still on the hunt for a conditioner. I am hoping that American Cream will work for me in the end, and that I am still in the adjustment period! I would rather not have to buy another one just yet! It is pretty expensive, so I am going to either mix AC with water as a leave in, or just start using a lot more in the hope that it works better!
I am wondering about Jasmine and Henna Fluff-eaze and Retread. Oh, and Jungle! Would these be too much for my fine hair? I really want to keep the curly, and accentuate the curly!!!! If I didn't already have Curly Wurly and The Blonde the I would be tempted by Trich, but i don't need THREE Lush shampoos! LOL I will definitely get it next time :)
So what do we think in regards to conditioner for me? It is mainly de-frizz and curl-boosting qualities that I am after, but I don't have coarse, thick hair so I am worried about weighing it down...
Okay this just got long and rambly! Sorry! :)
EDIT: Oh yeah, and are any of you guys from Aus? Does anyone know if we have the Retro items, the return policy that everyone raves about or any of the giveaways that our US friends get? I haven't seen or heard of any of these things but maybe I haven't been paying attention (and the aussie website doesn't say!). Cheers.
Hi everyone! Does anyone have any idea when the Lush at Fashion Island in Newport Beach Ca. is going to open? The awesome staff at the Lush on Universal City Walk told me sometime in July but I'm wondering if anyone has a more cement date. I'm very excited! :) I need a new buffy!
Hi. Me again.
I'm trying to figure out what Lush conditioner will work best on my hair. Conditioner is such a hit-or-miss thing for me, so I'd like to snag some opinions before I go out and get one.
My hair. It's super thick and SUPER wavy. Not oily. A little bit on the normal/dry side. It's naturally red but I dyed it black a few months ago (yes, I know, dumb move, but I rarely dye my hair). It's medium-long, down over my shoulders below my collarbone.
When I was little, my mom told me that I should use a dollop the size of a quarter when I conditioned my hair. If I use anything less than 1/2 to 3/4 of a HANDFUL, my hair gets tangly, slightly frizzy, and refuses to cooperate. I try to deep-condition it once a week to make it cooperate. I go through conditioner like crazy, and the only kinds so far that have worked for me are Garnier Fructis and the generic Whole Foods conditioner.
I've been using Squeaky Green and Trichomania to shampoo, and using Jasmine & Henna Fluff-Eaze every so often before washing. I tried out a little Veganese today, and I like it, but I don't know if it will work long-term.
Thanks!
Is there a full list of the stuff that was just DCed?
I am so happy that Lush has finally come to Kansas and I can experience it's wonderfulness that I previously had only heard of!
So far, I'm using Seanik shampoo bar and Veganese conditioner as I'm trying to go SLS and 'cone free. However, a friend of mine pointed out that there's SLS in the conditioner. I've been all over the website and the forums but I can't seem to find a reason as to why they use a harsh cleanser in their conditioner. It baffles me. Has anyone else heard why they do that?
(P.S. I'm all about using tags but WOW there's a lot for this comm. Any suggestions on which ones to pick when making a post?)
I've got a holy mother of crap zit coming. The monster is on the bridge of my nose, towards the nostril. I suspect it is from my sunglasses, or even my regular glasses causing some sort of blockage. It's already starting to pop up but its not insanely noticeable yet. I have a rather large arsenal at my disposal that I can use. What do you guys think will work best?
- Cupcake biofresh mask
- Face Farmacy
- Herbalism
- Coal Face
- Mask of Magnaminty
- Sweet Japanese Girl
Suggestions? The sooner the better, ha.
I was considering placing an on-line order for some of the Retro products, but since most of what I want is melty and the weather here has been hot hot hot, I'm reluctant to spend the money on what would surely arrive on my doorstep as a fragrant puddle-in-a-box.
I wrote to Lush customer service to ask about the possibility of paying extra to have the order shipped with coldpacks. No dice on that, but the customer rep who responded revealed that at least some of the Retro products are being returned to the regular Lush rotation - including my beloved Cosmic Dreamcatcher, my favorite Lush fragrance ever. (Out of stock at the moment, but I was assured it will be back).
I couldn't be happier. I've been hoarding my last supply of CDs (double-bagged, in the freezer) ever since they were discontinued, and am down to the last one. Woohoo!
I have a quick tiny question.
OK I have a friend who handed me over a few of her bombs and bubble bars a while ago since she hates baths and she didn't want to throw them out. I was going through to collection today since I need to thin it out a little and I'm thinking of swapping, and she gave me this purple bubble bar, that looks like Comforter, blue skies and Karma, with the swirls, But it's purple. What's the name of it? Since I think it's discontinued because it's not on the Lush web page and I've never seen it. I'm not a huge fan of the smell so I'm thinking of swapping it along with some of my bath bombs that I used to love, but don't anymore and have left over.
It's an extremely purple Blue skies it seems. Thaanks guys :D
So, I have this skin condition called keratosis pilaris...it's pretty much genetically deformed hair follicles that create bumps and red marks - basically it looks like chicken skin. The condition is especially aggravated by dry skin. Lactic and alpha hydroxy acids (like those in milk) can help, as well as coconut oil, and gentle exfoliation - but heavy exfoliation can make it worse.
There are so many lush soaps, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of what might work best? I did a search and the most recent entries for something like this are 1 year and 2 years ago respectively so I was wondering if anything new has come out in the mean time...
current mood: optimistic
Hey fellow Lush addicts xD
I'm desperately looking for a good every-day Lush solid shower gel. I travel a lot, and am on a mission to replace all liquid products in my toiletry bag. I already have Lush solid shampoo and deodorant (and a bunch of solid temple bars/perfumes and massage bars), but I can't for the life of me find anything I can use in the shower that doesn't make my skin feel all weird and dry and awkward when I rinse it off.
Tried: Porridge soap (b/c it seemed soft), Karma soap (b/c is smells delicious), then realized soaps were not going to work, switched to Ring a Roses, and found that it has the exact same problem. Body Butters are fine, but they're hardly shower gel replacement. Is there some ingredient causing this, that I should avoid?
I'm thinking of trying Lemslip as an alternative, or the Jellies, but I don't want to spend a lot of money trying them all out (I have to online-order them from the UK) if there's not a reasonable chance it'll be better. Anyone has any advice on what would work?
Any thoughts very much appreciated!
