Jungle and Oily Roots
Jumping
[info]angeofleak
Hey guys,

I ordered Jungle from Lush UK a few weeks ago and there was a chunk that was a little more liquidy. I cut it off and decided to use it first just in case it goes bad. Anyone know what this is?

I have oily roots and thin hair and am trying not to wash every day. So far I've tried Squeaky Green, Jumping Juniper, I love Juicy, Hybrid and Big to tame the oil. I think Big has done the best thus far even though I'm not sure that was its intended purpose. Which shampoos are best at postponing washing?

Thanks!

Hello my fellow LUSH-o-philes  :)

I'm relatively new to the comm, and after looking around through the archives, I had a few questions to ask.

To give you a little background, I've only recently become obsessed with Lush.  I was curious about it years ago, but had a bad experience in store with an SA who had no concept of personal space.  :(  However, while on vacation earlier this year, lacking shampoo and with $$ to spend, I ventured into a Lush store at the mall.  Loved it.  I bought a bunch of stuffs, got some free bath stuff, and was hooked.  Since then, I took myself to Lush for my birthday, and wound up spending some more $$ to treat myself.

Not to get too long-winded, my query is this:  I got some $$ from family for my birthday, and am thinking that I'd like to spend it at Lush.  Specifically, I'd like to get moisturizer, and maybe try some of their other face stuffs.

So far, I've tried Vanishing Cream and Gorgeous.  Vanishing Cream smelled lovely, but didn't give enough moisture.  Gorgeous I really liked (the smell is amazing!), but wasn't so amazing that I can justify spending that much money on it.  Also, I'm currently using Herbalism at night, and Dark Angels 3 - 5 times per week in the shower to exfoliate / deep clean.  I tried out Brazened Honey with my last purchase, and quite liked that as well, though I'm itching to try other masks as well.  (Non-Lush-wise, I use witch hazel to tone, and sometimes Cetaphil to wash my face as well)

My skin is combination, a tad sensitive, but mostly just fussy about getting enough moisture.  I break out occasionally (usually just a few pimples at a time), but get dry patches too.  I also have some clogged pores on my nose.  Looking at the websites / reviews / entries here, Enzymion or Imperialis look like my best bets.  So, what do you think of those?  Used them, loved them, etc?

Also, I'm open to other recommendations for what to buy myself - especially bath bombs / bubble bars, other face stuff (especially masks, and I'm willing to try other cleansers), and anything else you just love that I must try.

Thanks in advance, and I'll try to provide reviews later on!

Oh, and ETA!  I'd also like to try out Buffy, any raves / rants about it?

I ran across this, and I thought I'd share.

I find it hilarious, but I'm sick with some evil death flu and sleep deprived, so there's no accounting for taste...

I know it's a little (a lot) out of season, but I just tried Snowdrops for the first time. Am I the only one who found it to be ouchy and stabby? It's like the thing is packed with shards of glass. Next time it's going in a stocking.

Someone just recently mentioned on this community that new products were coming out soon, and I found some descriptions on the Lush NA forum. They're from this thread (which were taken from the UK Lush Times): http://forum.lush.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=120964

And in case you'd like to see close-ups of the UK Lush Times and what the new items look like, go here: http://forum.lush.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=44664&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=110

I dunno about ya'll, but I'm super excited, especially for the new bath melts!

I just wanted to share with everyone a great combination of products I've found that works really well for wavey border-lining curly hair.

Gentile Lentil, American Cream, and King of Mods. Amazing.

My hair has always responded only so-so to anything else. It would work but my hair would still be frizzy/dry/not hold the curl for longer then a few hours. But this has worked great for me for the two weeks I've used it. It even keeps the curl from going insane while I sleep or frizzing at work under my hat.

Aromaco

Hey LUSHies,

I bought some Aromaco a few weeks ago and didn't start using it until last week because I still had some of my first batch left. When I started using my new batch I noticed that there were a ton of little hard pieces in my deodorant. Its not as smooth and makes it a little irritating to put on. My first batch didn't have any of these little hard bits in them, so I'm wondering, did I maybe get a bad batch?

Any Lushies in Santa Cruz, CA?
[info]supercurls197
I was just wondering if any of you were in/around Santa Cruz CA and interested in making a trip up to the San Jose store this weekend. I don't have a car, but will go three-quartersies on gas if someone else does.

Mods: Not sure if there is a tag for this.

HELP! Best for stubborn blackheads?
cate surly
[info]geekninja
My BF uses SJG (along w/TTT) to combat his blackhead problem and it has worked WONDERS. Now, with 1.5 bars left and none left to be found, we need to start thinking replacement. His blackheads are quite stubborn and as a result cause him to have large pores combined with a very oily t-zone. SJG has greatly reduced the blackheads and his pores have diminished because of it. In short, it's been a MIRACLE for him.

I'm just so crushed they discontinued it! >_<

He's tried a sample of DA, and it didn't seem to do anything with his blackheads and it clogged his pores up where he had to use a lot of TTT to get the residue off. DA handled the oil just fine, but it did nothing for the blackheads and seemed more fussy than he wanted to deal with. Ocean Salt didn't seem to do much either. Exfoliation doesn't seem to make much difference in the blackheads as he's tried just about everything prior to SJG with absolutely no relief. But all the SA's seem to recommend DA as some miracle product that will replace SJG...but for him, it's absolutely worthless.

He hasn't tried Coalface yet, but I'm thinking it'll act similar to the DA as far as blackhead cleansing goes, but am willing to try anything. He would be chuffed to use a giant black brick of doom on his face instead of the "angry Korean woman" (he makes up random names for SJG...which cracks me up) and a sample of Enzymion seemed to tame the oil when the weather was a bit cooler, but now in summer, it's just too much. In the shower, he uses Ice Blue and he will use a bit on his face which has really helped with the oil slick, but again, no relief from the blackhead horde.

So what recommendations do you all have? What should I have him try next? Or should I just start the campaign to "Save SJG to Retro" now?

Thanks!

The Blonde (Update!)
[info]mynamesjonas
Hi folks,

A few weeks ago I made this post about the effects of The Blonde for non-blondes. Just wanted to report back that after daily use on my naturally red hair, I have actually noticed a pretty big difference! Granted, it's not exactly drastic, but my natural highlights have returned from their drab, winter hibernation, and I've noticed a general improvement in the overall depth of my hair color. All in all, I'm pleased!

So, the moral of this story is: if you've got fairly photosensitive hair, the Blonde just might help bring tired, wintery locks back to their highlighted glory. And even if it doesn't, it smells super and makes your hair insanely soft. Win - win!

Combination Skin Regimen
dm; interview
[info]houjun
Hello hello~

For the past couple of months I've gone through several different brands of skin cleansers and exfoliators, trying to find something that will really improve the overall look of my skin. I found Lush through the intarweb, and have become totally interested in buying a few products that will help me out.

I am combination type, with normal cheeks and a somewhat oily T-Zone. I don't get acne much, no zits or blemishes, but I do have blackheads (and there's a lot of them).

On the Lush website, I was figuring a good regimen would be:
1. Ultra Bland Cleanser
2. Dark Angels
3. Tea Tree Water Toner

Edit: I just realized I wasn't too clear -- I'd use the Ultra Bland/Tea Tree on a regular basis, and then substitute DA a few times a week. (Is that all right? Or would using DA straight up every day be better? Also, is it better to only cleanse once a day, or both morning and night?)

I've never used any of these products, so any input from you lovelies would be awesome :] Also, if you have the same skin type as me, it would be rad if you could share with me your regimens as well. I'm looking for something to balance my skin and take care of these annoying blackheads.

Thanks! :D

Trouble with massage bars (Therapy vs Mange Too)
back
[info]betise_mcmutton
I got into Lush because I wanted to try the massage bars. I bought Business Time first, and when I got it, I didn't like the smell. After that, I used it for a massage and the smell grew on me. I like it now, but it's not my favorite scent. Then I bought Wicci Magic Muscles, which smells really...minty. I was expecting cinnamon from what everyone else said, but it just smells minty to me. Also, I used for a massage but I didn't feel the tingle/burn everyone else talks about. No issue there, I guess.

And now, the bad part. I bought Therapy solely because I heard it was great with scars/stretch marks...but it smells horrible. I can't get used to it at all. I thought I could just try and use it only on my problem areas, but the smell makes me nauseous. I was thinking of getting Mange Too as well, but I heard that it smells similar to Therapy.
I must explain that I have the "new" version of it (most commenters say it's chocolate, but I love chocolate and I would never eat anything that smelt like Therapy). Mange Too apparently smells quite sweet, so I was wondering...do any of you find those two scents are in any way alike?

If I buy Mange Too, should I expect to get headaches from the smell, like I do with Therapy?

spot treatment?

I usually use Mary Kay's acne spot treatment for random pimples and burgeoning ones, but I'm running out. I'm planning on switching most of my beauty supplies over to Lush, but from lack of fundage right now I can't get Greased Lightning (or the Fresh Farmacy that every says works wonders for acne spots, too). I was thinking of using BB Seaweed on my spots, do you think that will work? If not, what other tips or tricks do you have? For some reason I have a little cluster on my chin that does not want to budge. :\

Thanks for your help!

Has anyone tried Grease lightning yet? how do you use it. on the bottle it says it's a "spot cleanser" but i don't think using it as a cleanser would give it enough time to work. for the past couple days i've used it as an all over face treatment at night. is this too drying? it doesn't feel too drying when it's on. how effective is it? i haven't seen any great result yet. thanks

Itchy scalp?
kbell puzzling
[info]intotheheart
Hi Lushies,

Ever since I switched to Lush hair products (over a year ago), I've been experiencing off-and-on itchy, itchy scalp. I currently use Seanik and/or The Blonde with Veganese, usually every 2-3 days. When I do wash my hair, I blow-dry it afterwards. My hair is past-shoulders blonde hair, the actual hair is fine, but there's TONS of it.

I love love love the smell of Seanik and I prefer using Veganese (I like that it's Vegan, I'm trying to go Vegan in my bath-products as much as possible.) But should I be using something else? Anyone have any suggestions, or experienced similar itchy scalp with these products?

Thanks team!

P.S. So excited for the Sugar Scrubs in NA. Heading STRAIGHT to Sugar Babe.

More goodies!

Ok, so i went down to Norwich today, then plan? To go to the hsbc, then to Lush... Just to buy some Love Lettuce (i dont ever order it online because it goes bad so much faster if you do that, i've found). Well, while i was in there i decided to grab some more ocean salt, as i dont want to keep having to do that 40 minute drive just for odd bits. Then i bought some Marilyn because my mum doesnt want me to have visible roots at my sister's wedding, and i got a therapy massage bar because my husband is complaining about how i never massage him any more, and i've found that most massage lotions just dont provide the necessary *ahem* lubrication to give a really good massage.

So, i've pretty much accepted that going into the Lush store for one thing is a pathetic fallacy that i should just avoid perpetuating in future :p

With regards to Marilyn... do i really have to use tons of it? My plan was to take a small blob and kinda comb it through my hair, concentrating on the root areas, to make it last. At nearly 8 quid a pot, im certainly not going to be slathering my head with this stuff lol

I also figured that since im a regular user of the Blonde, combining the two should yield some nice results :)

I already tried the massage bar, and i have to say that i love it... its a little melty right now because of the heat, but i'll probably just put it in the fridge with the rest of my Lush products lol.

I'm very new to Lush cosmetics, but I thought maybe this would be helpful to others in the same boat. Let me know what you think!

Vitamin E oil & acne scars
Vegan/Animal Rights : 'Dairy Is Scary'
[info]luinecu
Has anyone here tried adding vitamin E oil to their Lush facial moisturizer to reduce the scars caused by acne? I was thinking about adding it to a pot of Enzymion, but obviously I don't want to ruin £12 worth of moisturiser!!

Or would I be better off applying it separately with a Q-tip? If so, before or after moisturiser?

Cheers everyone!

Also, has anyone tried None of Your Beeswax yet? I'm dying to get my hands on some!
