Uluru + Psychodelic Bar

I really, really wish now that I'd ordered two of the Uluru bath bombs. The water turned a gorgeous tangerine/coral color. I combined it with half of the Psychodelic bubble bar and it was a lot like taking a bath in a chai latte. *L* It was spicy with the cinnamon and cardamom from the Psychodelic bar and yet citrusy with the lemon and orange from the Uluru bomb. Very luxurious and restful.

Almost forgot to post this!

I took a nice bath the other night after spending 2 hours cleaning my room (which, for only 2 hours.. was fantastic. I have a floor!! And a desk!! And... multiple piles of books that need alphabetizing NOW).

I'd found the easter egg from Lush's Egg Hunt back when, and inside was a chunk of Blue Skies and Big Fluffy Clouds. I took that, and combo'ed it with my last (-sniffsniff-) Avobath, and a sample of Ice Blue.

Now, i didn't really smell much of the ice blue, and I think maybe that's because Blue Skies and Avo were pretty overpowering together. It was a nice, super soft bath, great smells.. BLUEGREEN WATER TO DIE FOR... But then.. like an hour later.. my stomach started turning. I didn't know why at first, but then I realized....

Blue Skies has patchouli in it. Patchouli makes me nauseous.. The smell of it was So much stronger when I dried and the tub dried. It permeated the bathroom to the point where I had to spray febreeze apple cinnamon all over the place, and pumpkin spice on me.

I don't think I'll be trying blue skies again.

Reviews! Reviews! Happy Fun Time Reviews!!

Fox in the Flowers Bomb- I tried this before but it was a bit stale so I didn't get the full effect. Now that I used a fresh one I can actually form a better oppinion. So, dry it smells exactly like Sod Soap. Sod soap has the fresh cut grass smell that is nice but a little strong. The smell does mellow out a lot once it its the water. I cocktailed this with Flower tub and this made an excellent combo. The perfume from flower tub really brought out the green smell in Fox and toned down that strong almost nutty smell it has. Combo this with a scrub down with Sod Soap and you have a really great refreshing bath. I recomend this combo on a hot day in cool water. It worked great to cool me down.

Absolute Delight Bomb-...where have you been all my life? I picked this one up mainly because I was on a roll with the retro pieces and felt "well hell, I might as well just try them all". I wasn't expecting much. Usually when you smell one rose sent you smell them all. OOOH I was SO wrong. This was a wonderful youthful FANTASIC smell. It was amanpondo's baby sister! There is a sweet rose/honeysuckle/jasmine/not sure but its awesome! smell with notes of citrus that wake you up and cheer you up as well! Cocktail this with Amanpondo and you get a very feminine sophisticated smell that makes you feel like a woman. The water also turns a lovely light light pink. Though sents very rarely last on me, this one stuck on my skin for HOURS which was heavenly. I washed with Lily Savon and it was a fantastic and feminine bath.

Honey Lumps Bomb - What it lacks in smell in the tub, it makes up for in soft soft skin. Dry, Honey Lumps smells like Honey Be Have dusting powder which I adore. Its a sweet smell, but not UBER sweet like rock star or Candy fluff. The bomb mellows a lot in the water so this one is a good one to cocktail, possibly with one of the candy smells (This worked great with Candy Cane). Though the smell isn't that strong, the effects on your skin are a lot like Butterball. Honey bits melt in the water and soften your skin. I felt so soft and silky afterwards! I finished up with some Honey Be Have dusting powder. Unfortunately I had no Honey I Washed The Kids on me or it would have completed the whole thing. I do wonder if Honey Waffle soap is a good combo for this since I feel this sent is lessy Food-y.

Back For Breakfast Shower Gel - GREAT way to wake up. I wasn't really sure what to expect from this but I was looking for a new Shower Gel. When it said it had Honey inside it, I was sold. Honey Does GREAT things to my skin. The smell reminds me of Lemon Drops, those little lemon candies I used to get from my grandpa when I was a kid. It really does wake you up in the morning too! Not abruptly like Zest soap but in a good way, kinda like smelling a really good breakfast in the morning and waking up to the smell. It perks you up and makes your skin feel fantastic. If you're an early riser, try it!

Red Rooster Soap - SO afraid of this one at first. Mainly because of the whole "It smells like..ahem...man parts" rep it has. But my curiousity got the better of me and I snagged up a bar. I will admit, dry, and if you smell it a few times up close...yeah...it does kinda smell like...well yeah. But once I got it in the shower, that smell goes away completely and your left with a nice spicy orange smell. It reminds me a bit of a Christmas smell when its wet. The spice does out number the orange there. While I do enjoy the smell, I wouldn't call it the end all be all of soaps. Its nice, its spicy, but it doesn't really do much for my skin and I tend to feel cleaner using Waylander than this. I'm glad I got it, but I don't think it will be a staple in my stash.

Cosmic Dream Catcher Massage Bar - I never thought a smell like this would put me to sleep. But it does. EVERY time. If you like really heavy smokey smells this one is for you! Frankensense...you are one strong smell! At first sniff it struck me as a very strong sharp smoked cheddar.O.o Weird. So I was really reluctant to use this for a while...so it sat in my fridge for days. After a while I finally gave in and tried it on my shoulders and neck. On the skin it loses that "Cheese" smell and it becomes far more smokey and herbal. The smell reminds a lot of an SCA war actually. Its the smell of campfires and incense which for me is a VERY relaxing sent. There was also something about the Frankensense and Vetivert that just knocks you the heck out. A couple whiffs of my shoulder and I was down for the count for the night. A little goes a long way so this bar is probably going to last me one heck of a long time.

Stupid question

I've been into Lush for a little while. I found it in Holland when I was there on vacation, brought a ton back and usually hit the one in NYC near the Manhattan Mall when I got to the city to visit friends.

I just went to the one in Philly a few weeks ago and stocked up on my favorites (Goth Juice, Demon in the Dark, the minty ice blue one I can't remember the name of...). I just finished my last bar and unwrapped a new Demon, and found a sticker on it. You know, the usual Lush sticker with a cartoon person saying who made it and when.

This one said the soap was "best before Feb '08". Uuuuh... oh dear. I bought it in June. I had them cut it off of the giant cheese wheel of soap. I'm slightly concerned. I mean, I don't THINK soap can go... bad. Can it? It smelled fine...

Anyone encounter this before?

first time poster, question about solid shampoos

Hi all!

I'm a new member of the community and a long time lover of all things Lush.

My name is Mel...I'm 31 and from MN. We have a Lush store at the Mall of America, but since that place gives me hives (too many tourists and many of the stores are ones you can find in any other mall and I swear the prices are higher there overall) I still shop online for some of the products I love from Lush.

I have been recently debating purchasing one of their solid shampoos.

Which one do you use?
Do you like it?
Has your hair responded well?

I have pixie short hair so I figure that I could really benefit from using a solid shampoo and I only use a fraction of liquid shampoo right now as it is. I would just like to hear what good or bad experiences folks here may have had with them.

Thanks all!

Mel

We have good news and Bad news on the lush front!

First the bad news:
The following items have been discontinued:(
- Afterlife moisturizer
- Almond Kisses moisturizer
- Butterfly bath bomb
- Creamy Candy bath melt
- Marathon bubble bar (no! Not my beloved Marathon!)

They'll be selling these until the current stock goes out so snag them while you can!

The good news!
LOTS of new stuff on the website including some limited things like
Ginger Soap
Ol' Blue Skies is Back
White Wedding Bomb (BRAND NEW!)
Godmother Soap
An Tea and Sympathy (which unfortunately looks like its out of stock:()

Also, if you get the LUSH times there are a ton of new things coming out that look very fun! This sorta softens the blow for the loss of Marathon for me. *L*

Unfortunately I don't have my Lush Times on me at the moment, but if anyone is interrested, I will throw up a list of new stuff coming a a couple of days. Or if anyone wants to do it before me. Please feel free!

Aura Suarvis and Sore Labors

Aura Suarvis
Okay..this thing rocks.
I have been drying to try it since reading the description. As usual I tend to be skeptical when it comes to things saying "Oh this will center you. This will relax you" Its his mainly because i an an extremely high strung person at times.
Well I can say LUSH once again suprised me and lived up to its description. I popped half an Aura Suarvis bubble bar into the bath last night and nothing else. The smell is very sage (LUVS!) and a hint of mint. The sage definitely worked its magic because I felt very relaxed after that bath. This is a GREAT bubble bar after a very busy day and for right before bed. I wouldn't say it makes you sleepy, but it does clear your mind well.

Sore Labors
I enjoy the smell more than Wiccy. Its far less cinimon and more clove. So if you don't like or are algeric to cloves, you may wanna pass on this one. It definitely does its job. While Wiccy tends to give you that icy hot type of tingle, Sore Labors does not. It does give a bit of heat on your skin but is far more subtle. I used this on a sore shoulder last night and this morning it felt considerably better. If you like Wiccy, definitely give this one a try!

I of course bought a slice of the Demon, a Big Blue, and a jar of Goth Juice, because I'm running low. And my goodie for showing up in costume... a Very Berry box! WIN!

Softy + Dreamtime + Ring of Roses

This time I tried the Softy bath bomb from my Retro stash. It's a big bomb, almost too big for my net bag but I managed to get it in there which was good because Softy is full of rose petals and lavendar. It also makes a lovely soft pink fizz with lasts quite a while. I combined it with a quarter of a Dreamtime bath melt and used the Ring of Roses buttercream all over. It was a very girly bath and very relaxing. I had such a good sleep afterwards!

Bon Bomb + I've been Mangoed = Margaritaville

I tried some more of my Retro order last night. I'm so glad I ordered two of the Bon Bombs -- big things come in little packages. It's got a bright yellow fizz that fades to a lighter barely there color but the smell!! Fresh cut limes, sweet and tangy, with an orange undertones, making me hungry for margaritas. It also has these little floating bits of mango and avocado butter. I put in the last bit of my I've been Mangoed so it made a wonderfully moisturizing bath. My skin still feels great this morning.

I wish they'd put this one on the menu full time.

Cocktails

At my store, I am known as the professor of Mixology because of the cocktails that I create using our products. Some of them have actually been featured in our company newsletter that is released weekly. I wanted to share two of them with you:

Karma Chameleon:

In your bathtub mix one part Blue Skies Bubble Bath with Karma Bubble bath. While the bubbles form, also throw in a chunk of Dreamtime bath melt. After your tub is full, plop in a Geo Fizz bath bomb to finish up the cocktail. You can also add some Mudflats soap to the mix to wash your body with as you soak in this earthy and rich cocktail.

Shock The Monkey:

In the shower, grab a loofah and combine in there a mix of Sonic death Monkey and either Freeze from the Lush retro line or suds from Ice Blue. Wash all over your body. Then rinse off and wash again with some Heavenly Bodies Buttercream. Rinse again, now turn the shower head away from you, and while still wet, buff you body with (here comes the shock) Running To The Embassy. Rinse it all off and towel dry. THEN (shock number 2) Moisturize your whole body with Fair Trade Foot Lotion. Fell the shocking tingle and the softened skin.

Anyone else got any good cocktails to share?

Banana Moon

My Retro order arrived yesterday. The only casulty from the trip was the Sore Labor massage bar had gotten all mushy but a brief stay in the freezer fixed that. It has a more subtler scent than the Wiccy bar so hopefully the hubs won't complain so much.

I haven't had a chance to try the bath bombs or bubble bars yet, but I really love Banana Moon soap. It does smell like fresh bananas when it's wet but it leaves a light fresh scent when it dries. The lather is wonderful and very moisturizing. It feels like you're washing with lotion. Very nice!

Waylander Soap

I am Stunned I like this.

My first retro order came in yesterday. I have been curious about Waylander for a while, reading reviews about it on the forums and such so I picked up a slice.
When I took it out of the box I was at first turned off by the smell. Patcholi usually has two smells for me. Fresh and Herbal or Dirty Hippy Feet. This Smelt of the latter when I took it out. Ick. I was relucant but I cut off a slice from my chunk and brought it into the shower.
Now maybe it was my batch, but in the water the smell completely changed for me. It went from the dirty feet to the fresh and herbal smell pretty darn quick. The smell reminded me of a smokey version of Mud flats. More musky and less citrusy.
Since there are pumice bits inside it I also expected it to scrub my skin off. Not the case! Its ground so fine that it feels very delicate against the skin. I keep comparing this to Mud flats since they both have the Rassoul mud in them. I love Mud Flats and I think its a great after work out soap since it leaves you feeling squeeky clean afterwards. Unfortunately Mud Flats tends to dry my skin out a bit. Waylander gave me the same clean feeling but when I was done my skin felt so soft and smooth and not dry at all! I did use a buffy afterwards but I honestly doubted I needed to.
So I have to give Waylander my thumbs up. Mudflats is a better smell for me since its more delicate. But if you don't mind a more musky smelling soap I hightly recomend it.:)

Ginger Beer

I tried something a little different tonight -- I combined Avobath with a non-Lush product. Sin! I have horrible seasonal allergies so I like to use Village Naturals mineral bath soaks when I'm really stuffed up. The 'Allery & Congestion' formula is really nice -- it has a strong ginger & lemon scent. Combined with the fizziness of Avobath, it was like bathing in ginger beer! I loved it! (Ginger beer has stronger ginger flavor than regular ginger ale and is often sweetened with lemon or pineapple... yummo.)

That's the last of my Lush until my Retro order gets here. I ordered a few things that have ginger in them so I'm anxious to try them out.
