In need of Father's Day plot bunnies
I already did a rec list for Family Fest, but I wanted to write some fiction as well. I came up with the idea of doing a short story in my Always series, where Theodore and Dylan hear about a Muggle holiday called Father's Day from Hermione, and decide to do something that day for Snape and Lupin.
The only trouble is, I'm sort of stumped as to what they should do to celebrate. They'd get up early and fix breakfast for the Professors, but then what? Take them out somewhere, to a show or Quidditch match? Just stay in and spend the day together as a family? Or as their gift to their fathers, arrange for Snape and Lupin to have some alone time and go off on a date? Somehow nothing really reaches out and grabs me, although the date idea has some potential. So I thought I'd see if my readers have any suggestions, any good plot bunnies they'd like to see me write.
If you're not familar with the series, Snape and Lupin adopted two orphaned Death Eaters' sons after the war ended: Theodore Nott and Dylan Rosier. Theodore is currently 18 going on 19, and Dylan is a year younger. So unfortunately, I can't use "the kids fix daddy burnt toast and eggs for breakfast" kind of plot. Well, I guess I still could, but I've already established in the series that they can fix an edible meal. ;)
ETA: Thank you everyone for your great suggestions--they've definitely got the creative juices flowing! I think I've got enough to start with, but if you want to keep commenting, please feel free. One can never have too many plot bunnies, right? ;) Oh, and if someone is inspired to write their own Father's Day story, I'm perfectly happy to share the bunnies.
