50 Covers

  • Feb. 3rd, 2008 at 2:16 PM
I don't know about you, but I really love covers. Sometimes they turn out even better than the originals, sometimes not. I love to listen to them, anyway. So here are 50 of them. I think only a couple of these have been posted before.

50 Covers right this way )

Following up to yesterday's post and poll:

Starting right now, [info]lunatunes will become a locked community. That means all entries MUST BE POSTED FRIENDS-LOCKED or they will be deleted. ETA: I fixed it so's that all posts will show up as friends-locked whether the Original Poster remembers to flock or not. So that makes things a bit simpler.

I know this is a pain in the ass, but on the plus side I'm not moderating membership or making you fill out a goddamned application just to join. AHEM.

Questions, comments, concerns? Here's the place to bring them up.

90s Music!

  • Aug. 26th, 2006 at 1:30 AM
Artist: Tonic
Song: If You Could Only See
Oh, man, I love this song. I don't even want to. I just do.

Artist: The New Radicals
Song: You Get What You Give
I love this song, it's so happy :D My boyfriend didn't know who it was by but knew all the words :D

Artist: The Aquabats
Song: Pizza Day
Although this song was on an album that was released in 2000, it was written for an album that came out in the 90s, but the song wasn't finished or polished enough by the release of that CD. So I think this should still count. Yes.

Artist: Presidents of the United States of America
Song: Peaches
Yeah!!! Peaches!! I am under the impression that everyone loves this song.

Artist: Presidents of the United States of America
Song: Video Killed the Radio Star
You know that terribly catchy 80s song called 'Video Killed the Radio Star'? Well. This is Presidents of the United States of America covering it their way.

I'll be back if I discover that I have more :D

I ::heart:: the 90s, part 2

Girlie Girls )

Sometime later this week: a random set of 90s songs. :-D

I ::heart:: the 90s, part 1

  • Aug. 25th, 2006 at 7:39 PM
I have insane love for parts of the 90s, but they're all different styles, so I'm going to split it into a couple of posts, so as to not give you musical whiplash....

*NSYNC and Backstreet Boys )

Next -- Girlie Girls!

And for my last contribution to Bring In The Laff: Just Plain Silly.

Behind the cut-tag: naked banjos, relationships, famous people, pirates, rebel cows, demon sheep, an unexplained goat, and other assorted livestock. )

I've enjoyed this week's theme a lot, and I hope y'all have liked my contributions.

Today on Bring In The Laff: Parodies!

Setting new lyrics to old tunes is a tradition with a long and noble history, and not always done for comic effect -- but since comic effect is what this week's theme is all about, that's what we've got today.

Behind the cut-tag: Wait a second, THOSE aren't the words! )

Funny songs!

  • Aug. 23rd, 2006 at 4:22 PM
To download, right click on the link and "save target as." All MP3s are encoded in 128 kbps. The lyrics for all of the songs are included within the MP3s.

1 Original song, and 10 parodies )

I helped write most of the songs, so if you to take a listen, feedback would be appreciated in a major way. Thanks!

Today on Bring In The Laff: Sick Humor! (Plus adding one song to the last category.)

Behind the cut-tag: Stuff you probably shouldn't laugh about. Except it's just so damn FUNNY. )

And in a late addition to Sociopolitical Commentary, we have The Systematic Dumbing Down of Terry Constance Jones.

Okay, this one comes straight from the artist's MySpace account, even if it's in a low bitrate.

"Don't Download This Song", Weird Al Yankovic. That's right. Not only did Weird Al get a MySpace, he's offering a song off his next album up over there. No, it's not a fake--that is most definitely Al. And he's talking about music "piracy". He even makes a dig at Lars Ulrich, whose actions make me want to post "Enter Sandman" here out of spite.

More 80's and Weird Al... all funny

  • Aug. 22nd, 2006 at 5:50 PM
My 80's Rockstar - The Weekend
This is just a funny little song about a washed up 80's rockstar... You know, it reminded me of John Taylor, and the character he played in Sugartown when I first heard it. It's not utterly hilarious, more just a funny little song.

Star Wars Cantina - Weird Al Mark Davis
It seems I've been misled these past 20 years as to the singer in this tune. It isn't Weird Al as I'm now being constantly told. It's some guy by the name of Mark Davis. Apologies if I've misled anyone - it was unintentional. If you do download the song, it will list as being Weird Al, so you will have to change that yourself.

Silly Songs

  • Aug. 21st, 2006 at 10:43 PM
There's been some interesting omissions in the funny so far--or, at least to my ancient brain there have been, so here are a few of my favorites. And, yes, more Weird Al, who has been posted, but one can never get enough of Weird Al.

Kyle's Mom's a Bitch from South Park the Movie

No South Park?! I think I fell in love with this show from this song.

I've Got a Theory from Once More With Feeling (Buffy Musical)

While not all the music is funny in the least, this one...well, when Anya starts blaming it on the bunnies, I end up rolling every time.

Quiche Lorraine by The B-52s

I believe Rock Lobster has been posted and while I love that one and have some rather odd connections to it from high school, this one is my fave of their early '80s music.

You Put The Spring in Springfield from The Simpsons

I could have posted both these albums in their entireties, but chose a couple of my longer favorites. It's a song about a burlesque house!

We Do: The Stonecutter's Song from The Simpsons

Capt. Picard, Mayor Woody (Guttenberg), and an alien, where can you go wrong?

Two Dozen and One Greyhounds Medley from The Simpsons

Only Mr. Burns...

The Saga Begins by Weird Al

Okay, I have a penchant for Star Wars. I have a need to see George pay for the last three episodes and the gerbalization of Obi's face. This song makes me happy.

Yoda by Weird Al

It's a theme! Do two songs make a theme?

Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun by Julie Brown

No Julie Brown?! OMG, every song is just too funny. I remember the video for this one. I could so see my homecoming queen pulling this.

Make It Through The 80s by Julie Brown

I woke up every school day in college one year and put on this album to this song as I got dressed. Yes, album. *g*

Enjoy!
