Once upon a time, long, long ago in a place far, far away, there was the continent of Avern.

And there was magic.

Throughout Avern's history, the magic of man, beast, and Avern itself played an essential role in the natural rise and fall of cities. Of countries. Of people of all ages, of all races, of all paths of life. Magic was in the very air they breathed, and with each breath, a little of that magic entered them, as well.

Countries sprung from nothing and collapsed into dust, revolutions were sparked, and wars started. It was one of these wars that directly preceded the end, and no one wondered if it was the cause or a direct result from something that had already begun. Either way, a terrible war took place, with the screams of the dead and the dying shaking the very earth.

After years of fighting, however, the war ended (as all wars do), and Avern's people returned to an uneasy peace. Families mourned their long-gone dead while survivors grew old, and for a while, all was well.

For a while.

It crept upon them slowly, silently, almost unnoticed. But mages felt their powers weaken, and weaken more every day. And, perhaps strangest of all, their memories of their magic faded as well, day by day by day. Books of power lost their words, pages steadily turning white. And eventually, all the pages were white, and the people knew nothing of magic-- knew nothing of it ever existing.

Two hundred years dry of magic have passed, and barely a trace lingers. And suddenly, five people wake up with no memory of their past, no memory of how they came to be, and a journal with strange writing.

Welcome to Avern. It's quiet here.

I N F O R M A T I O N
Luna * Memoria is an entirely original roleplaying game. It takes place on the continent of Avern in a world completely seperated from ours. There is little technology other than the penny press-- in a medieval society, there's not much importance placed on inventing.

All characters in Luna * Memoria are entirely original, created either as presets or by their players. Communication is done by a system of journals that they find have suddenly produced other people's writing. However, there is something unique about this system: to find is to lose and to lose is to find, and at the moment the journal activates for each character, one thing they value disappears into thin air. It could be a necklace, a painting, a pet.

A sister.

A lover.

Their sanity.

Real-time meetings between characters will either be done by log or in the fic format found at

himitsu_sensou; players may choose between the two.

C O U N T R I E S
Avern is seperated by the Silver Sea into two subcontinents, referred to as Northern Avern and Southern Avern. It currently is home to five countries, each with its own culture.

Dakan is the westernmost country of Northern Avern. It is run by a king and a Council of Five which are stationed in the capital, Firon. While it is a primarily military-based country with strict punishment, the southern region has a thriving underworld of smugglers, prostitutes, and thieves.

Faline is the largest and northernmost country of Avern. It is ruled by a Council of Thirteen. Church of Ages, which is the central religious group of Avern, has its headquarters here. Temples can be found all over the country.

Kalria is a large country located in Southern Avern. Its government is a feudalistic monarchy, with many noble houses paying tribute to the king at the capital of Yilan. Its ruler is King Arron and the heir is Prince Draven.

Jiranz is located in Southern Avern to the east of Kalria, and is also a feudalistic monarchy. Its ruler is King Rhys, with no heir. Jiranz is famous for its flowers and its lavish seaside court at the capital, Reiarn.

Azurane is an archipelago located near the Golden Sea. Its capital, Aveen, is located on the largest island, also called Azurane. It is matriarchal and ruled by a queen. Its current ruler is Queen Nalia and her heir is Princess ~~Iva~~ Riana. Azuranians differ the most from other countries in culture, especially in religion.

The Dead Lands are to the southernmost part of Avern. It has no people and therefore government. More information can be found in the ooc community.

Age; Really doesn't matter, but it's nice to know, right?
Journal; Your personal journal, not a character one.
RP Experience; Not really important, because everyone has to start somewhere, but pretty important. If you've RPed with

warwolves, go ahead and skip it, mmkay?

THE CHARACTER;
Name; Last names are uncommon for anyone but nobility. If I see one 'Alea'ia Starshine' it goes in the trash. Savvy?
Age; v. important to know.
Country; Not just country, but city, too. If it's a small village, go ahead and skip the name of it.
What did they lose? Self-explanatory.
History; Tell me about their past, their present. What was their childhood like? Where did they grow up? And so on and so forth.
Personality; Now, what are they like? How do they view the world? How do they feel about themselves, their families, their friends, their country? Etc.
Watcher? Yes or no, please, and if yes, tell me about how they act. Funny? Bitter? Snarky? Kind?
Appearance; Anime and possibly some video game PBs are allowed, though I'm allowed to make the final call on any non-anime/manga PB. Tell me about not just how they look, but how they dress, how they talk, walk, sit, stand, ride.
