AboutThis is a closed community for transsexual men to discuss medical, financial, physical, and psychological aspects of reconstructive genital surgeries. It is open to men who are considering their surgical options. Men who have had reconstructive surgeries may join, but the focus of this group is on men who are working on making decisions about their surgical options.
Bullshit tolerance here is going to be basically zero. Talk about your own experience and your own opinions in ways that respect that this is a hard thing for a lot of us to talk about, and that we are talking about people's bodies. Everyone comes to the table with a different set of absolute needs from surgery and there is no right way to feel about all this. Respect other people here, period. This includes being respectful of the relationships people have with their natal genitals; some people are more okay with them than others, and obviously people engage with them and use them in different ways, and nobody here should have to be ashamed to talk about how they have sex or what they like or what concerns come out of that. Additionally, if there's any kind of heirarchy-talk about phallo v. meta v. free up or whatever, or even any implication that lower surgery is a more legitimate choise than no surgery, that will be addressed as being out of line.
This needs to be a place where men can talk freely and openly about their fears, concerns, hopes, etc. around a really fraught issue. If you have an issue with something another member has said, please contact me and we'll work it out.
In order to join this community, request to join and then send an email to posttransanthology@gmail.com (that's old, but i'm at the airport and don't feel like making a new one, so there it is for now) with information about you, your transition status, and where you are wrt lower surgery. YOU MUST ALSO INCLUDE THE USERNAME UNDER WHICH YOU REQUESTED TO JOIN. I'm not trying to police this a whole lot, but I do want to be sure that men who join are all on the same page in terms of where we are with this.
At this time, this community is only open to men who are past the initial stages of medical transition. I don't have hard and fast rules on this, but I do look at a combination of time on t/ surgical status. There are a lot of ways to transition, but this group specifically addresses medical transition. Also, please have a basic understanding of the surgical procedures and how they work. This information is all over the internet. Most folks here are well past "lower surgery 101" and are not here to answer "what's a meta?" questions.
