Our Second Annual! So, Put on your Collar and Cuffs and you Sunday Fetish Night Best 'cause We Wanna Know What You Would Do in the Dark?! Upstairs @ The Dragon's Den, Doors @ 11pm. DJs from Corrosion with Special Guest Niugnep!

We will be having prizes awarded throughout the night for best/sexiest/most ingenious Black Tie Attire, so dress like you mean it, besides that's part of the fun!

Bring a light source if you think you might want one, though we will have light sticks and such for everyone to play with as well. See you there!

Versailles will be here on their Broken Dolls tour. You can check them out here. Featuring New Orleans's own dark cabaret players, Morella and the Wheels of If. DJs Tot Kuhjunge and Vendetta will spin Goth and swirl for an evening of decadence and dancing, at the HiHo Lounge at 2239 St. Claude Ave. at 9:00 p.m. $10 at the door.

This is a lot of stuff, so bear with me...

Summer is upon us yet again.

But, the eldritch and unspeakable forces that govern the New Orleans Goth Scene will emerge from the shadows in defiance of the light. Grave things are afoot.

First, you can check out Corrosion every Sunday at the Dragon's Den, and they'll also be spinning in support of Combichrist on June 12th at the Hangar. They will have tickets to give away this Sunday night, so come check it out.

House committee agrees to ban smoking in bars and casinos

BATON ROUGE -- Louisiana's smoking ban would be expanded to include bars and casinos under a bill that narrowly escaped a House committee today despite opposition from bar owners.

The House Health and Welfare Committee voted 8-7 to move House Bill 783 by Rep. Gary Smith to the floor for more debate. Rep. Neil Abramson, D-New Orleans, who had missed virtually the entire 75-minute debate on the matter, appeared in the committee as the vote was being taken to break a tie.

Smith, D-Norco, said the bill is meant to create a "level playing field" between restaurants, where smoking was banned in 2006, and bars, where it is still permitted. He cited studies showing that secondhand smoke has harmful health effects on workers in establishments where smoking is permitted.

Opponents of the bill said smoking should be a matter of individual choice, and that a ban would hurt small businesses.

If the bill becomes law, Louisiana would join 16 states that have already passed a complete indoor smoking ban, including gaming establishments. Indian casinos would not be covered by the bill.

We'll be taking you "Through the Red Door" into the sumptuous surroundings of a bygone era filled with "wise guys" and "good time girls," burlesque shows and the Lindy Hop.... But with a little bit of our own flavor thrown in, namely, sound beatings, hot waxings, and of course that glorious debauchery we all know and love.

So dress it up (think Bondage Showgirls and Gothic Gangsters), come to carouse and be prepared for a night where we're not just in the decadent past or rockin'-sexy present but somewhere gorgeous in between!
