This is a community dedicated to a lower and healthy-carbohydrate lifestyle. Specifically, this community will cater to the copious and healthy vegetables associated with a low-carbohydrate lifestyle. You do not have to be vegetarian or vegan, but please keep in mind that we won't be focusing on animal-flesh sources of protein. Eggs and dairy will be included because they are a component of an ovo-lacto vegetarian lifestyle.
Choosing to eat low-carb does NOT mean NO-CARB. Our bodies require carbohydrates to function and maintain good health. We should be aquiring our carbohydrates from fresh fruits and vegetables, not refined sugars and refined flours. Whole foods have nutritional value, processed foods usually have little to no nutritional value.
Feel free to post recipes, questions, resources, journal articles, news articles, progress pictures and general commentary.
This is not a debate community and flames, insults, or spreading misinformed or outright bad information will not be tolerated.
If you are curious about healthy-carb diets, please choose a diet and read the book before you begin, it is literally dangerous to do ANY diet on hear-say. Please don't be surprised if you see "Read The Book" as an answer to your post if you ask a very basic question. They are looking out for your well-being. Also, NO ONE should begin any diet without the consent of their doctor.
