So, on another note, am I the only one who's been kind of annoyed with Viz's translation? I picked up volume six at a convention, and I was really surprised that they found it necessary to translate Nobu's 'darling', and rename Maity to Mighty. D:?

On the other hand, I've been really impressed with the French translations. They even included some freebies, like a pin and a cellphone charm, and they keep the original Japanese covers, coverjackets and all.

Just to let you all know -- Ochibichan Scans has released up to Chapter 55 on MangaFox since the last update we heard of here in August. Good to know they're getting back on track! These last two chapters are really nice, too.

[[ spoilers for 54 || I totally called Jii-chan being the 'short' guy in a past relationship. (Scary that he was supposedly that gorgeous, though. THE MAN HAS NOT AGED WELL) Also, this was really sweet. ♥ ]]

Disclaimers: I do not own the characters mentioned in this fan fiction except the little boy and her sister. I do not also own Winnie the Pooh. They belling to their respective creators.

Height? It's just figures...

He was always at his best. Yes, always whenever he is at school and teaching those cute preschool students. Mind you, that was his aspiration. To pass his college entrance exams. And now that he is already at it, he always gives what he has and if possible more than what he has.

He knows the rudimentary cause of his students’ every complain. Of course he is a teacher, a preschool teacher. The mastery of children handling is so simple that he need not to exhaust himself just to make them stop crying. His students’ short attention span is ABC’s for him.

He loves to see them smile and hear them laugh. Their singing of preschool songs and childish inquiries where enjoyed by him. He loves to place colorful stamps on their notebooks as a motivation for them to want to learn more.

He sure is a teacher.

“Atsushi sensei…” Keitaro, one of his students called him while he was on his way to the school quadrangle. All at once, he stopped and walked back towards little Keitaro and bent down, hands on his knees. The boy smiled at his teacher.

“Keitaro-chan, why are you still here?” Ootani spoke softly while peering around them to check whether some of his students were still there. When he saw that no preschoolers were still around he immediately asked the kid, “Did your sister forget to fetch you? Come on, I’ll send you home.”

He straightened up then held the kid’s hand in his. Started to walk but Keitaro seemed to not want to go home.

“My sister is here. She asked me if we can wait till you go home. She wants to talk to you.” Keitaro said pointing beyond the gate. In a half running and half walking manner he pulled Ootani out of the school. Ootani, on the other hand, prevented his footwork from falling.

Once they were out, Keitaro ran to a seemingly senior high student carrying a checkered backpack, a clear filing envelope and an apple green colored umbrella.

He checked his timepiece, and then glanced from side to side. There were some students filtering out of the school, an old lady fetching her grandson and a tall girl wearing a simple shirt under an unbuttoned brown trench coat paired with faded jeans and white sneakers and other passerby.

“Ootani sensei…” The girl said.

“May I help you?” He inquired.

“Anou…”

Keitaro settled his bag down, opened its side pocket and brought out his light blue tumbler.

“Yes?” Ootani eyed her.

She scratched her temple and clearing her throat she held her folder tight. Ootani bewilderedly watched her waiting for what she is to say.

“Anou…”

The little boy was having difficulty to open his tumbler so with great force he tightly gripped the tumbler while his left hand pulled its lead. It opened. He was startled. The lead dropped and rolled along the pavement. Keitaro tried to follow it but was stopped someone jogged following the object and quickly picked it up.

He raised his eyebrow still waiting for her.

“If you don’t mind…I am in a hurry and…”He tried to say politely but was rudely cut midsentence.

“Please… please go out with me…” She seemed to have gathered her courage. Blushing furiously, she bravely looked at him expecting an answer.

Keitaro was smiling when he was given his tumbler lead. Softly spoke his thanks and gave the stranger some of his remaining recess, animal shaped biscuits, which were packed in a small heart printed plastic bag sealed with a seemingly knotted ribbon.

“Ah… about that. I am sorry but I am a busy person. I have many things to do, many tasks and most importantly, I already have my significant other. I am sorry but I may not go out with you.” He said trying not to sound harsh.

“Even once?”

“Even once…”

“But I like you so much and…” The girl protested.

Ootani, looked at her and placed both his hands on her shoulders. Comfortingly he smiled and told her, “There are a whole bunch of guys out there that are greater looking than I am. A whole bunch of them that would make you fall in love. Even in your campus, there might even be one person who likes you much and you like in return. Mutual. It’s just that you are ignoring, maybe his hints of affection and interest towards you. The best thing for you to do is be patient enough to wait for him and he will come to you as a present wrapped the way you want him to be…”

“But he is taller than I am…” Though hesitant at first she continued. Her eyes twinkled as she timidly smiled as if remembering something important.

“But height is just figures… It’s simply a number five, eight, two one…You can’t let figures defeat your feelings for him and his feelings for you. It’s only a tiny spot in the context of love. Differences? Height, weight, color, age, name it. The more you take note of your differences liking itself would shy away and love would be void. Focus on something you have in common and drop out all your differences or make it into indifferences.” Ootani placed his hands inside his pocket.

Keitaro ran towards his sister and hugged her. He tugged her blouse and pointed towards the stranger who helped him.

“I gave her my biscuit. She helped with this…” He stingingly said while waving in front his Winnie the Pooh tumbler.

“Keitaro is it?” The stranger asked. Keitaro nodded. “You’re a very cute and sweet child. Thanks for the biscuit. By the way it tasted so good. Yum yum…”

“So…” Ootani cleared his throat.

“Oh, I am sorry. I was actually confused that I took you into liking while my mind and heart was battling about this certain person. Now that I have cleared my clouded thought I think I’ll go for him. He actually confessed to my but my ego was a bit hurt because it seems to me that I have to be dependent on him when it comes to things involving height and the like…” She gestured thanks to Ootani for helping her and the stranger for helping Keitaro. “Thank you for helping Keitaro…” She smiled.

“I suppose we have to go now Ootani sensei. Thanks for the advice and your girlfriend is lucky to have you…” She opened her umbrella and held her little brother hand. They started to walk when Ootani tapped her on her shoulder.

“By the way, this is my girlfriend. Koizumi Riza…”

Riza slid her sunglasses down her nose bridge then waved at her.

“Oh my… you are the famous Koizumi Riza of the “Statement Clothing Co.”, I am so pleased to meet you. I so love your designs.” She squealed stopped then looked at the couple. “Ugh… it seems that…”

“Yeah, I am too small for a tall girl like her. Remember what I told you, height is just a matter of figures.” He grinned.

“Now I understand…” She grinned and shook hands with Riza.

Confusion About Manga

Okay, so I NEED to have this cleared up. Exactly how is Lovely Complex compiled in the final volume? In a review at the Chapters/Indigo website, someone wrote that LoveCom is a 17-volume manga series; Wikipedia also says that it has 17 volumes. But, I read somewhere else that it's a 16-volume manga. Then there's Lovely Complex Plus.

So, in a volume of LoveCom, there are four chapters, right? Well, on my other computer, I have a file with the manga in RAW format. In volume 16, I believe (I think it's the "last" volume because it ends with all of the characters waving goodbye like in the anime), how many chapters are there exactly? (I could check by myself, but I am physically unable at the moment). I then have the three chapters of Lovely Complex Plus, THEN I have this completely separate folder with pages from the "Final Chapter."

That "final chapter" contains one-chapter worth of pages and, if you've seen it, it's extremely squee-worthy. I won't spoil it for you. For those trying to identify it, at first, a scan of that "final chapter" was released with green-tinted pages, then it was re-uploaded with the colour fixed.

Anyone able to end my pondering? Is Lovely Complex Plus going to be released as a separate one-volume series?

Oh, and this is a SRS REQUEST: does ANYONE have ~~hi-res~~ scans of A) most of the manga's color pages and B) THE SPECIAL EDITION DVD BOXES. Let me know. I saw those DVD boxes, and I was like, MY ENTIRE UNIVERSE IS NOW FOCUSED ON GETTING A GOOD SCAN OF THESE IMAGES

Summary: Otani discovers there is a rival for Koizumi's heart, one he cannot easily win.

This is a gift fanfic for my LJ friend Pam. She gave me the theme cat as a challenge and I wrote this for her. Happy Birthday Pam!!!

“Isn’t she just precious?” Risa squealed happily, rubbing the tip of her nose in against the kitten’s tummy.

The animal purred in satisfaction. Otani looked at his girlfriend not knowing how to react to that image. A part of him felt a tint of affection to her happiness. The rest of him felt extremely jealous of Atsuko, Koizumi’s pet kitten.

When Risa moved out of her house and into her little crammed apartment, she decided to fulfil her life’s desire for a pet. Her younger brother was allergic to cats, something that did not allow for pets in the house. So once on her own, Risa decided to buy a cat. Atsushi Otani was jealous of the darn kitten.

Koizumi had gone overly crazy and protective to the animal which, as Otani secretly believed, hated him and wanted to make his life miserable. It was the only explanation he had. He could not understand why Atsuko always decided to enter the room, and become cute enough to shift attention, at the moments Koizumi displayed her affection towards him to the fullest.

The small calico that day entered the room chasing a piece of paper, while Risa and he were making out on the couch. In her moment of rare initiative, Koizumi lay on top of him, pinned him on the couch and sucked his neck wildly. He had let a moan of excitement and started sucking her necks and right shoulder, while he slowly put his hands under her t-shirt and petted her back.

It was in that heated moment of excitement that a rustle echoed in the room. Risa, and he, stopped for a moment. It was quiet but as he touched her neck with his lips once more; a meow and a rustle took place again. They both turned their heads to the floor and saw the calico kitten staring at them with its big green eyes, before meowing and chasing the paper.

And that was all it needed. Risa’s attention shifted to the kitten entirely. Boy, he did feel rejected.

“Otani do you want some takoyaki?”

“Do whatever you want to,” he answered in grievance but she shrugged and went to her kitchen leaving him alone.

Atsushi Otani stared at the furry creature that now stood next to him. The animal walked towards him and sniffed the air around him. Atsuko jumped over his left thigh and smelled between Otani’s legs. Otani groaned and slightly pushed the animal from him.

The cat gave him and indignant look, something that seemed to accuse him of perverseness, but then resumed its sniffing. The kitten rose on its two back legs and sniffed the short man’s chest and neck for a few moments.

Otani blushed. He felt that the cat was sniffing him, trying to find out why the man smelled like “mummy”, as Risa put it. Atsuko sniffed up and down for a few more moments before looking at him in the eyes. Giving him a calculated look, she lied down and rested on his lap.

Otani looked at the feline not knowing what it wanted from him. She stared at him in expectation for a few seconds and then let out, what Otani thought was a sigh of defeat. Leaning her head, she stroked it against the man’s hand.

The short man understood and petted the cat’s head slowly, admiring how soft she was. He scratched her behind the ears and she purred happily. Suddenly she yanked his hand with her front paws and gave it what seemed like an affectionate bite before licking it.

“Well I guess you aren’t so bad,” Otani whispered to the kitten as he stroked its fur, “If you can make Koizumi happy, I like you. But stay away from her when I am around. She’s mine you know.”

The kitten stared at him with a look of challenge. Obviously, Atsuko believed that Koizumi belonged to her and Otani was the one who should stay away. With a sudden movement he scratched his hand, making him wince and jump, and then hurried into the kitchen, following the smell of fresh takoyaki.

Otani’s eyes narrowed dangerously as he heard Risa speaking to the cat. If that feline wanted a war for Koizumi’s heart, he would give her what she wished for.

Ok was it strange? My cat is quite territorial and perceives boyfriends as obnoxious rivals getting into her territory. She has quite a spoilt attitude

I think it'd be a great opportunity to get the fanbase active again, but there is a small problem -- we don't have any stamps, or good images with which to make said stamps. nejlbana was interested, but college is coming up for her in a few weeks and I'm worried she won't have the time. So, if anyone is interested in making us a set, please don't hesitate to speak up. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. ♥ And, of course, we do need some members to help get this thing off the ground. Join up, and I'll have the finished app ready in a few days.

I went on a huge archive binge for this series.. And I have to say: I think I'm in love. >_>

But since there's not much to do, fandom-wise, aside from wait for the next scanlation release, I figured maybe the members here would enjoy knowing what character they're most like. That's what a rating comm is: You vote on different filled surveys and decide which character, from a given series, is the one a person fits the best.

Would anyone here be interested in joining or even helping me run a Love*Com rating/stamping community?

I run a NANA/Paradise Kiss one, myself, at parabewood. Things would be different, obviously -- but if you want to know what's typical of any rating comm, feel free to hop on over there and check it out.

Stamp-wise, I could probably make them with the right resources (which I do have), but a graphic maker is certainly welcome.

Mangafox.com has Lovely Complex plus translated to English. I read the story. It is a prequel and does not spoil the manga ending for anyone who has read only the English translation scans so far.

Oh and I read it twice and I actually cried! Yes I was crying and I rarely cry at anything. So give it a read!
