From lotrfic_crit, (a group devoted to the constructive criticism of Lord of the Rings fanfiction and meta comment, [here], ajhalluk makes the following observation, "Now, Denethor - John Noble - was principally given the job of Making Aragorn and Faramir Look Good. In order no doubt to console him for the wreckage the script made of his competence, motivations, consistency and table manners Jackson handed out not only a really, really good death scene (With Added Blazing Plummet!) but an extended scene of frantic grief, and one heck of a mad scene. A director shouldn't do that to a classically trained actor, you know. It's like firewater. It just struck me as amusing. | | Friday, May 13th, 2005 | 4:55 pm [kaitscribbles] |

This..may actually be random spammage, don't know if it's okay. But! It's a link to another journal with just...pure genius in the entry. ( Christopher Walken....LOTR?) comment here please so she doesn't get sudden spammage from people she doesn't know. kthxbai Current Mood: amused | | Monday, March 28th, 2005 | 12:39 pm [keltic_wolf]

Just the resident lurker with a slight question.
I recall that one time, a Lord of the Rings parody was posted here that involved George Bush and the United Nations? If anyone has a link I would be... really happy and thankful.
And so this isn't all off-topic; from a locked post in gold_fox's journal (Got permission)
Bilbo: I'm old, Gandalf. I know I don't look it— Gandalf: (muffled laughter) Bilbo: I shouldn't take this crap from a guy who’s, like, a THOUSAND years old, you realize that?!
Peter Jackson: Take two… and action! Bilbo: I'm old, Gandalf. I know I don't look it— Gandalf: (muffled laughter) Bilbo: (ignores it) I feel...thin— Gandalf: (laughs like a maniac, falls out of chair, begins rolling on floor) | | Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005 | 12:21 pm [moxieibiza]

*G* I'm looking for someone who can write music to be the songwriter on what promises to be the biggest thing ever to hit Broadway, just as soon as it's written. It's the tragic story of feuding bands of Rohirrim and Uruk-hai, torn apart by the deep racial divide that runs between man and orc, and the romance that blooms between a young Uruk and a captain in the army of Rohan. It's going to end like no other play: each night, the set will be completely burnt down in the final battle, and then rebuilt by little Oompa Loompa stagehands in time for the next day's matinee. It'll be called Westfold Story. - rex_dart Current Mood: happy | | Wednesday, December 8th, 2004 | 1:41 pm [silverhill]

More Mary Sue humor luvboromir24601 here in anti_deleterius: People say I am the most beautifulll elf in Middle-earth but how can I be pretty if I am not happy? After all, my father was killed by orks when I was only two days conceived, my mother got raped by Saron and his seed influenced my dead father's seed and therefore I am half-evil like Saron, my entire village got burned by some orks, my cat got run over by a truck, Lord Elrond adopted me and that stupid Evenstar treats me like a servant gurl even though I'm really a princess of the secret country Lathelovania (which is right abovve Mirkwood!!!), I'm oppressed by men all the time even though I am the bestest fighter in ME, I almost didn't get to go with the Fellowship, Gimli laughed at me, the Balrog almost defeated me, Boromir raped me, I don't known about proper punctuation or how to use periods, I had to rescue Merry and Pippin and Treebeard all by myself, I have to hide my true feelings for Legolas because I will surely die if I marry him because I'm half evil, and everyone thinks Eowyn is a better fighter than me!!!!!! And now a public service announcement I'm new to the comm and I have something to bring. during a conversation with myng_rabbyt, this was noted to have come forth from my mouth: "Between rex_dart's slash and bri_chan's artwork, I have concluded that Legolas is a whore" and laughter ensued. it's not as funny as it was at the time and I apologize for my immediate stupidity Current Music: tv-"Drew Carey | | Saturday, November 6th, 2004 | 2:45 pm [pegkerr]

The Gollum Commentary From peacockharpy hereOne of Meg's [her young daughter's] current favorite things to do is take Mr. PH's statue of Gollum (it's not breakable) and press the buttons that make it speak. She especially likes to do this while I'm listening to NPR, ( which results in interconnections like this: ) | | Monday, September 27th, 2004 | 10:33 pm [glimmer_glass]

The Ring Poem from 'Bored of the Rings': This ring, no other, was made by the elves, Who’d pawn their own mother to grab it themselves Ruler of creeper, mortal, and scallop, This is a sleeper that packs quite a wallop. The Power almighty rests in this one ring, The Power, alrighty, for doing you Own Thing. If broken or busted, it cannot be remade If found, send to Sauron (the postage is prepaid). Found on metaquotes amand_r, talking about Hurricane Frances: So, Sylvan has canceled classes for tomorrow and the entire weekend, which of course, for me is grrrrreat! I traipse about the house and do my Tony the Tiger impression. I actually said the words "It'll be like a snow day!"
And then I remembered: snow days usually meant the snow had fallen and was laying useless in the street like a vagabond, perhaps George Thuroughgood in "One Bourbon, One Scotch, and One Beer." Hurricane Day means impending doom and rioting, random women giving you their babies just before they are killed by dragons, and most of all, a tall man in robes bursting into our apartment and asking the cat "Is it secret? Is it safe?" Current Mood: amused | | Sunday, August 29th, 2004 | 10:25 pm [silverhill]

luvboromir24601 on what creatures do and do not belong in Middle-earth here:5. Vampires do belong in Middle-earth... but not in the way you think they do. So don't even try or you will mess up. Thank you. ... 14. If Tolkien didn't mention a long-lost race of elves, don't you dare put one in. That means you, moon-elf lovers. The others are quite funny, too, but I didn't want to copy the entire post. | | Thursday, August 19th, 2004 | 12:31 pm [purpledragon_39]

What movie is this? Sunday I went over to my best friend's house. There was a LOTR marathon on Encore... or Starz I forget. We both have the DVDs but you know how it is... At dinner time we go out to the dining room to eat with her family. Her Mom jumps up from the table to turn the tv so we can watch the movie at the table (she didn't have to, but I didn't complain). My friend's Dad goes "What's this, Robin Hood?" Before anyone could react my friend mutters "...Men in tights... same thing." *grin* Current Mood: content | | Friday, July 30th, 2004 | 7:25 pm [agnes_bean]

helijt, in regards to yet another horrid Mary Sue:So, Sauron used to have a family. I can only imagine what his childhood would have been like: "Sauron, stop killing your nannies! That was the third one this week, for Elbereth's sake!" *Baby Sauron gurgles adorably* "Sauron, why does the basement look like an orc breeding ground?" "Um... Would you believe it if I told it was just for biology homework?" "Sauron! How many times do I have to tell you: no making of evil jewelry after 11 p.m.?"' "But Dad, that's not fair! I'll never be an evil overlord if you don't let me practice!" | | Friday, June 4th, 2004 | 1:42 pm [starcat_jewel]

From a discussion in grammarpolice The following was posted by arensb: In closing, my current music is a song which is listed on the album as Lover's Day, but judging from the lyrics, it is a day for more than one Lover, so I have made an editorial apostrophe shift.
Hmm...but would it then be pronounced Loverses Day, and ruin the flow? Not unless it's sung by Gollum. As far as I know, "lover's" and "lovers'" are pronounced the same way. Current Mood: amused |
