-Participation in this contest is completely voluntary. It is totally separate from the competition. This is just something fun to hold everybody over and give the community a new look for Round Eight. :)

-You are required to enter a header and a matching icon. I'm not putting size restrictions on the header, but I would prefer it if it wasn't gigantic. We don't want anything that will take forever to load. The icon obviously has to fit LJ's icon dimension rules: no more than 100x100 pixels or 40KB.

-I'm not sure if I'm going to stick with the current layout or switch to a new one, but I will customize the colors to match whichever header wins, so feel free to use any color scheme you want.

-The header and icon must have the community name on them somewhere. Everything else is up to you.

-You must sign up for this round to participate.

-The winner will have a variety of prizes to choose from [an extra bye, automatic immunity (the winner will be saved if they're voted off before we get down to eliminating one person per challenge. Can only be used once.), paid time, or extra userpics.]

-There will be no Mod's Choice, only a Voter's Choice.

-Only one entry per person.

-Entries are due by 6 PM (EST) on Tuesday, July 14th.

-Remember, sign ups are open and an extra bye can be earned until Tuesday, August 4th!

-If you have any questions, feel free to comment and ask!

PLEASE BE SURE TO CAREFULLY READ ALL OF THE RULES IN THIS POST AND IN THE USERINFO BEFORE SIGNING UP.

1. This is the sign up post for Round Eight. If you would like to participate in LORD OF THE RINGS - Last Icon Maker Standing (LIMS), please comment to this post. By signing up, you are agreeing to participate in the following contest and all of its challenges until a final winner is found. If you fail to participate in a challenge and do not have any byes left, you will be disqualified. If you will be going away/will not have internet access for a given week and don't have any byes left, let me know, and I will do my best to work something out.

2. The first challenge will be posted on Tuesday, July 28th. You may comment to this post/sign up until Tuesday, August 4, 2009 (the day the voting for the first challenge goes up) by simply listing the username you will be entering with and the phrase designated in the userinfo. Keep in mind that if you wait until the 4th to sign up, you must also submit your icon that day. After voting for the first challenge goes up, no new contestants may enter.

3. Please help to promote. Spread the word to your friends and any communities that allow promotions! If you pimp this community somewhere and leave the link here, I will give you an extra "bye". This means you'll have the option to skip two challenges rather than one. If you promote the community in a friends locked post, you can post a screencap. This must be done before the voting for the first challenge goes up.

4. Once you've signed up, make sure you add the community to your friends list. You don't want to miss the first challenge!

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ THE RULES CAREFULLY. If you don't follow the rules, I will NOT count your vote. Since this is the final challenge, we're going to be voting differently, so it's very important that you read the rules.

VOTING RULES:
- Voting will last 24+ hours. The results will go up on June 4th, around 6 PM EST. You are not required to vote, but it would definitely be appreciated. You do not need to be a participant to vote.

- Vote for the icon that you think is the BEST for each of the three parts. You are NOT voting somebody off this time. You are not required to give reasons for your votes, but they are always appreciated. Remember, these votes will determine the winner of this round. Make sure you're voting for the icons that you legitimately think are the BEST.

- You will also be voting for the one icon that you think is the BEST OVERALL. Out of the six icons, vote for the one that you think is the best.
