If you're wondering about the name, which I'm sure you are, it's from Homer's Odyssey.
In Greek mythology, the Lotophagi/Lotophagoi ("lotus-eaters") were a race of people from an island near Northern Africa dominated by lotus plants. The lotus fruits and flowers were the primary foodstuff of the island and were narcotic, causing the people to sleep in peaceful apathy. -Wiki
Created as a split from the rampant idiocy that manages to find itself on livejournal despite the best of some of our efforts to curb it, the DIA is bullshit-free place to discuss anything drug related. There are some basic rules to keep in mind, and they're quite different than what you might be used to.
1) Discussions are encouraged. Differing opinions are welcome. You do not have to agree with anything the mods say, but you're expected to show at least as much respect as they give you.
2) If you are stupid, people will make fun of you. Do not complain to the mods, unless it is of a hateful nature. That is, don't use racism, biggotry, prejudice and the likes. As well, there's no need to point out spelling mistakes, they're obvious to all, but if you feel it advances your point (or lack thereof) feel free.
3) Obey the LJ TOS. This is not a forum for illegal activity. Discussing the usage of drugs, and fostering a community where responsible drug use is encouraged over idiotic drug use is the main purpose for this community. Do not make posts asking where you can obtain illegal drugs, how to prepare illegal drugs, how to extract drugs. This list is not extensive and we won't be very lenient here. Use your common-sense. If you are not sure, ask. Dosage information, is as far we understand, allowed. If this changes, the userinfo will reflect that as will a post informing the community.
4) Take it easy. We'll make fun of you, we'll laugh at you, and you'll feel dumb. It happens to all of us. It's the best way to learn. Keep in mind that most people here are on drugs, or do a lot of drugs, or are out of drugs, and they're probably not in the best mood at all times, but in the end, it's nothin' but love.
5) Do not spam, but feel free to eat some.
