I have (finally) managed to get lostunicorn.org back up and running again. The change won't take affect immediately, but over the next 12 hours it should propogate around the net, and you should be able to use the proper address again. (Note: for those on the other side of the globe, it may take slightly longer.) Any questions or problems, just let me know.

Where is LUN?
As of this morning, if you try to connect to lostunicorn.org, you will get an unknown host message. Our domain name expired yesterday, and I have been trying to get in touch with the registrar for a month now, but their site has been "down for maintenance" and my e-mails have gone unanswered. I will work this out, but in the mean time, please feel free to point your mud clients at "lostunicorn.net", port 1701.

Sorry for the trouble, but we'll have this resolved asap. In the meantime, happy mudding!

i can't connect to lun. is it just me? if not, anyone mind throwin out some info on what's goin on and if anyone has any idea when it will be better again, heh?

Back in the Saddle
Ladies and Gentlemen, dragons and pixies, and everything in between..

We are back in business! Things might still be a little bumpy, but we
will try to minimize the impact on the players as much as possible.
For example, the website isn't up at the moment. Another of those
bumps is that "lostunicorn.org" is still pointing at the wrong place.
I am trying to fix that, but until then here's how you connect:

Address: 216.254.112.193
Port: 1701

I'll update here and in notes as we smooth things out. If there's any
problems, please feel free to note or e-mail me. This all happened a
lot quicker than anticipated so I am doing the best I can. :-) Come on

A Real Update
We have two bits of good news:
1) Our new server is up and running.
2) I have spoken to the previous host, and I should have access to the
remainder of the files I need within 24 hours.

The final piece will be moving the domain name over, which I will take
care of tomorrow.

So, end result: The mud should be back in full swing within 24 hours.
As soon as we're up, I'll let everyone know. When we're back, it will
be the same info to connect: address=lostunicorn.org, port=1701.

For any of you on LJ and not in the yahoo group, oidhche has said this about the mud being down: --------------------- As most of you have probablly noticed, LUN cannot be connected to right now. I am trying to figure out what's going on, but near as I can tell there is a problem with the ISP currently hosting LUN. (This will be one advantage when we switch servers soon, I will have direct control of the server and direct contact with the ISP.) So, for the moment, sit tight and I'll get LUN back up just as soon as possible. -Oidhche ---------------

The Return
LUN returns. We have power, we have a server, and now we have a mud.

Power Outages, Aug 14th
The mud connection is still apparently down due to the power outage that has affected most of the north-east. All I can tell is that it is a problem with the ISPs network, so they may still be suffering from outages. I am working to get any information I can, and as soon as I know anything I will pass it along. In the meantime, just be patient and stay tuned. :-)

You may notice this morning that "lostunicorn.org" comes up as "Unknown host." I have no idea why this is, but until we get it resolved, lostunicorn.net will also work to connect to LUN.
