For those who have not seen it; also, so I don't have to link to the userinfo, and can instead link to an individual post.

This list will remain the same, but if enough of you plan on reading one non-listed novel instead of a listed one (i.e. some of you reading Stephen Hawking over Harry Potter Hiatus), let me know, and I'll include it in the schedule.

I know you've gotten a lot of flack for this list (which is excellent!), so I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I'm just really curious about one thing...

The Watchmen. I'm soooooo looking forward to reading it (I was going to read it this summer anyway, regardless of being on this list or not!) But how does it play into lost? I see that "EW" is how it relates, but err... what does that mean? Entertainment Weekly? Or something else? Hahah. Just curious, thanks for humoring my silly question! :)

Hi! There are no such things as bad questions, just bad ways that they're asked :) But thanks for being nice. Yeah, I have gotten a decent amount of slack, but mostly from three people who, coincidentally, are all friends with each other (two of whom are even dating). Immaturity at its finest, but I guess they're meant for each other.

Anyway, yes EW means Entertainment Weekly. Damon Lindelof mentioned it as being one of the greatest pieces of literature in the 20th century or something along those lines, as well as an influence on LOST. He's also appearing in EW in July discussing it, along with some other notables (I don't remember who). So there's that. I would've just as soon left it off, because I think it's going to be something some people aren't going to be able to find at their local library, but a lot of people wanted it kept on and so I did.

I hope that answers your question :)

Erm, I meant the list is excellent, not that getting a lot of flack for it is excellent. Getting flack for it is bad.

I think Occurance at Owl Creek Bridge is a short story. What made you guys choose that, out of curiosity?

Not a criticism at all, by the way, this is a great list!

We just talked a lot about OaOCB a lot in my film class last semester and I'm shocked to see it on the list.

http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Literary_works#Occurrence_at_Owl_Creek_Bridge :)

Plus - a couple people requested it, it'd only be a week's worth of reading, and I thought it sounded like an interesting story :) When books had very little significance to LOST - i.e. if they were just seen briefly - I decided which ones sounded like an interesting/relevant story or not, and which ones would bore people to death. Hence why Stephen Hawking didn't make the list, but Owl Creek Bridge did :) I also broke it up with some light reading, like the Judy Blume and Agatha Christie.

Very nice. I totally agree that Occurance is a great piece and definitely very relevant. The way the events unfold and all that. Kudos!
