Good people, does anyone have access to Lord of the Rings, in three volumes, without continuous pagination, following the Houghton Mifflin 1987 revision but before the 1994 revision?
If so, I would be most grateful if I could get page numbers for the following four passages. ( citations ) I own only the single-volume, continuous pagination edition revised in 1994, and the Ballantine editions without the 1987 revisions. I have been to the nearest Barnes and Noble, searched the public library catalogue, and the university library catalogue, and cannot get my hands on the editions without continuous pagination. If no one has it, I'll fork over the $40 to Amazon, but since I really only need page number citations for four passages, it would nice if the internet would give them to me for free.
I ask because I'm preparing an article for submission to the journal Tolkien Studies, and they seem to want the three volumes cited separately.
Many thanks (and an offprint if you want one!) if you can help.
