sale post [18 Jul 2009|04:24pm]

aznxlonewolf

Hello :)

I was cleaning up my room the other day and stumbled across my two-disc LOTR: Return of the King Widescreen DVD...which I would like to sell, since I already have another copy. If I remember correctly, it's never been played or has been played only once. The Special Features disc has never been played. DVDs themselves are in excellent condition <-- they haven't been touched, what did you expect? :D
but I can't say the same for the box. The plastic is dented in some areas and a whole corner seems to have been torn off, although I haven't the slightest idea why. At any rate, it can be found in this post: http://aznxlonewolf.livejournal.com/1810.html
Feel free to request more pictures, information, or whatever. I didn't think I needed to check the back of the box when I was taking the picture so...yeah ^__^;

I also found a LOTR leaf pin...I think it's the one that they wore on their cloaks from Lothlorien...? <-- did I even spell that correctly?
It's never been used and has only been taken out of its packaging <-- which has long been thrown away
I no longer want it, shiny as it is, since I've fallen out of the fandom. Also found on the link given above.

Thanks in advance.

The Lord of the Rings Elf Quiz [17 Jul 2009|05:05pm]

Hi everyone!

This quiz was first created way back in 2002 and was shared by yours truly in this community. However, the old quiz and image links have long since died and disappeared from the web.

With my new quiz domain, I have resurrected and re-uploaded this quiz:

Which Lord of the Rings Elf Are You?

Sample result )

I have checked the community guidelines and a post of this nature is allowed, methinks.

Thank you so much.

Lord of the Rings site renovation [14 Jul 2009|09:05am]

caitak
Hey there,

A few years ago I created a Lord of the Rings site with a friend. It's quite big, and the idea is that it takes you on a tour through Middle-earth following in the footsteps of the Fellowship.

Then exams picked up, university started and neither of us had time to keep it updated. But we left it up, determined that we'd get it running properly eventually.

Well now we're proper grown-ups. We have jobs and responsibilities, and, ironically, now we actually have time again. So we're giving it an overhaul.

The site in question is Cirith Ennor. We're planning on making things a bit more interactive, getting a proper forum set up (with some emphasis on role-playing) and maybe doing something with fan fiction. We've got quite a few ideas up our sleeves. ;)

But is there anything else that you'd like to see? Wouldn't like to see?

Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

Edition help! [12 Jul 2009|04:46pm]

atheneglaukopis
Good people, does anyone have access to Lord of the Rings, in three volumes, without continuous pagination, following the Houghton Mifflin 1987 revision but before the 1994 revision?

If so, I would be most grateful if I could get page numbers for the following four passages.
citations )
I own only the single-volume, continuous pagination edition revised in 1994, and the Ballantine editions without the 1987 revisions. I have been to the nearest Barnes and Noble, searched the public library catalogue, and the university library catalogue, and cannot get my hands on the editions without continuous pagination. If no one has it, I'll fork over the $40 to Amazon, but since I really only need page number citations for four passages, it would nice if the internet would give them to me for free.

I ask because I'm preparing an article for submission to the journal Tolkien Studies, and they seem to want the three volumes cited separately.

Many thanks (and an offprint if you want one!) if you can help.

The Hunt For Gollum [13 Jul 2009|01:44am]

barker9
Hey all.

TH4G's soundtrack has been been released - http://www.thehuntforgollum.com/soundtrack.htm

Click under FREE DOWNLOAD

Hope you enjoy it. Personal favs - "Crossing The Mountains", "The Nazgul of Dol Guldur", and "Athelas and the Evenstar".

The vision sequence and the montage with Strider crossing the mountains was quite something for us when we finally saw it on the big screen at our premiere.

Hopefully I'll have some Born of Hope (http://www.bornofhope.com) news for my next update. We're about to shoot the last few scenes to slot into the edit. I haven't seen it yet, but I hear great things. I did however see a visual effects shot. Looks super.

TH4G will be at the London Film and Comic Con next Sunday. Unfortunately, we couldn't get San Diego. The Hobbit will be there though!

Until next time. Thanks again for all your support.

LOTR is everywhere. Including the title of the Freakonomics blog in the New York Times: The Yellow Face, It Burns Us. It's a good little entry too, about how the human tendency to find patterns in data leads to conspiracy theories and political myths.

Lord of the Rings Tours [17 Jun 2009|02:20pm]

pinikir
I've made this year my year to visit New Zealand and I was wondering if anyone here has been on a tour and can recommend one? I'm leaning towards Red Carpet Tours but if there are other good ones I would love to hear about it.

Also is anyone else planning on heading there this year?

Pimping this 'cause it's just too sweet to miss. :D From [info]semyaza at [info]waymeet:

In October 1999, an adventure began that led many of us to a place we never thought to go (and no, I don't mean Mordor). Some of us were weaned on The Lord of the Rings and some of us came to the book as adults, but it's fair to say that most of us wouldn't be here in the LotR fandom, or perhaps in fandom at all, if it hadn't been for the screened trilogy. To mark the tenth anniversary of the start of filming, we've come up with a challenge to honour both the book and the movies. We hope it will provide inspiration to all of you, no matter what your preferred genre. RPS writers may have to put on their thinking caps for this one but we have every faith in your ingenuity.

The Long-expected Party Challenge will take place from 1 August to 31 October with one month being devoted to each of the three volumes: August to The Fellowship of the Ring, September to The Two Towers, and October to The Return of the King.

Very Secret Icons? [08 Jun 2009|06:52pm]

cherie_morte
[ mood | blah ]

Considering the popularity of [info]cassieclaire's Very Secret Diaries of the Fellowship of the Rings, I expect there are millions of icons with some of the more popular phrases out there. Unfortunately, I am inept and have spent the morning looking rather desperately for some good ones and failing epically. I was hoping maybe some of you guys in this community could help me out?

I am specifically hoping for a "Pervy Hobbit Fancier" icon.

Just Curious [06 Jun 2009|12:31pm]

arisuke_84
When did The Hunt for Gollum actually happen? It is said that this story happen BEFORE the events of Lord of the Rings, but didn't it happen after Bilbo's 111th birthday party and before Gandalf told Frodo the true nature of the ring? If it is, isn't it supposed to be before the formation of the Fellowship of the Ring at Rivendell?
